  • When stars were stars and actually had talent. People like "Merm" come along once in a lifetime

  • Another great lady that we wish could still be around. She was "Broadway." Miss her very much............Richard, Bradenton, FL

  • I went to a dance party last Saturday & it was terrible; Most of the people there couldn't dance, so they did NOT have rhythm! (Ha ha!)

  • Nobody mistakes Ethel Merman's voice for that of another singer. It always sounds like a trumpet and gives energy to the audience.

  • Is this available for purchase?

  • @richie60647 Yes, on an album called Mermania vol. 2

  • Ethel Merman was fantastic! I grew up with her, and my Mother loved her. Thanks to my Mom I love this kind of music. Ethel could belt out a song like nobody else, and she had some great movies. Nice video!

  • LOVE THIS!!! Wish I could see the whole show.

  • Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Probably because the BBC had a "higher definition" picture than American transmissions in the 1960's (as well as the lighting utilized here), it was possible to scrutinize Ethel's "flabby arms" in detail. But it isn't her ARMS that are doing the vocalizing- or would the camera pan in close enough to allow us to see her unattractive uvula as well? ;)

  • where is it

  • do you have the full version

  • Yes!

  • @NealeUK So when can we expect more??/

  • She's amazing!!!! I love her!!!

  • Rodger Eden's wrote this!

  • @damone77 ....George Gershwin wrote "I Got Rhythm."

    Just to be clear here.

  • This Concert (nightclub appearence) is on Mermania Vol.2...It is really good....I highly recommend it...Vol 1 is all on the piano though, no orchestra.

  • @rockanoarkennels Big was in at the time. Marylin Monroe was considered the most beautiful woman in the world, and she was a size 14.

  • I was a fan at 9 years of age, when my father took me to the movie theater to see a bootleg version of Theres No Business film in the 70s in socialist cuba. Can you beleive it?

  • Great story. How was it received? Hard to imagine. . .

  • I would love if Ethel could sing all night for me.....For being 55ish she looks goodness great!

  • Great star! huge voice, energetic personality. She one of my models

  • yea same with me she is my hero, i am 14 and that is very unusual!

  • I loved her when I was 14 too...and I still do!

  • yea I adore her.....my grandparents think that is amazing, she always had an exqusite voice!

  • I can't make fun of my moms flabby arms any more because Ethel has them too! lol, that would be making fun of my idol too...

  • @rockanoarkennels

You think her arms are flabby? I think they look pretty good---she was no chicken here!

  • WHAT A TALENT , OMG SHE IS FANTASTIC

  • thank you for sharing!

  • This is why I love YouTube. I get to see Ethel in things I never saw her do.
