I think in a sense he was referencing the Big Bang Theory and the fact that its been wholly accepted in the world of Science. Students are taught to believe in the Big Bang Theory and those who question its validity are marginalized. I'm sure he was refering to numerous teachings but this might be one example of what he was talking about.
@fukinblowme Hoyle indeed never liked the Big Bang even if it may be true some of his work help lock the Big Bang into place. Hoyle of course didn't intend this. In the 1940's Hoyle thought the Big Bang plays right into the Roman Catholic Churches hands. A moment of creation where all known matter, energy, time and space was made. & a Catholic priest was first to present the theory. No energy for you and me, no matter for us to be made, no time for us&no space for us to be in before big bang?!!
