This is one of the most perfectly beautiful songs ever written . I love Matrac Berg - both her voice and her songwriting skills.
Just wanted to pass the word that she just released a new CD after a 14 yr hiatus . I bought it last week online and not a bad track on the entire album - she has been missed and the new work is a triumph.
I got it for the same low price , but , yes worth a lot more . lol All her stuff is special . Just wanted to pass it on because she is so often overlooked and is such an amazing talent .
yep this was a song my sister created after talking with grandma Icie Calloway and Lee hanna aint that life? we are all so beautiful though in spirit in love in the way we cherish our lives.
I cried when I first heard this song. I look at our wedding pictures from 43 years ago and then look at what age has done to the both of us. If I had one ounce of talent, I could have written this song. Ms Berg is certainly "singing my song, my life" in this beautiful "creation".
She keeps the picture of herself when she was beautiful by her fireplace. She just turned 80. And she tells the story of her friends when they were young had the pictures taken so they would remember when they are old. The song tells the story as beautifully as do the pictures.
This is so beautiful.... Matraca has been my favorite singer/songwriter for about 15 or so years.... I love her songs and style.. and can usually recognize her songs that others are doing.... thank you... Nita in Alaska
i heard this song for the first time on December 31, 2000 - the day after my wedding...it made me cry....now I'm divorced...and yes it still seems sad.....beautiful song
I think of this song when I visit my grandmother, who is now in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. BTW: This whole album "Sunday Morning To Saturday Night" is a masterpiece; look for it!
Back in 1996-97 I picked up her "Speed of Grace" CD entirely on a jag. Didn't know her from a melted ice cream cone on the sidewalk. I was amazed. I now tell friends it is "the best album you've never heard, except that others have told me she has one or two that are even better."
Berg has spent most of her career as a song writer, but she certainly knows how to communicate her songs.
it has everything to do with Music Row chewing up and spitting out talent if they feel someone else will sell more records. That is why Matricia is a relative unknown even it seems she is one of the real giants of country music.
I am an "accidental tourist" into Matraca's world, and i find it a beautiful, warm and gracious place

This song was used in the movie "Hope Floats" but not on the soundtrack, I had to track in down with the help of a DJ.
