  • I used to cover this song in my band 15 years ago.

  • whats the album?

  • @1seancurran It's from the album Desensitized, released in 1993.

  • saw them in london, best gig ever!

  • Saw these at Ozzfest '98, fucking ace!!!

  • @monkeymotherhubbard ACE 'O' SPADES UP YER ASS...

  • @MirrorballJack WTF Cono?

  • this band is badass...love the programming stuff they adapted and evolved which is great unlike other bands that drown in time

  • we are all here because we have good taste in music

  • one of the bst britmetalbands vibe.

  • Such a great band. But after this album they went to shit!

  • Brainscan ruled.why does their new music suck?

  • Last time i've seen that was on MTV Headbangers ball with Wanessa Warwick (was that her name ?) in the 90's. I miss my VHS tapes soo badly. They're all gone :(

  • I heard this song for the first time in the film Brainscan.

  • @BloodyCrisis Thats what brought me hear I just keep searching all the brain scan songs on the soundtrack till I found it.

  • @jimmi161 Me too!

  • @BloodyCrisis Good Movie man. one of my faves. Also, "The Visitation" stars Edward Furlong, and also is a pretty decent flick.

  • :)

  • Excellent blast from the past... I haven't listened to this in donkeys years... I've still got an import of 'The Remix War' from '94... This stuff was a massive break from grunge and thrash... Don't get me wrong though I love grunge and thrash, but I was also muckin' about with the Akai samplers and MIDI and Pitchshifter was right up my street at the time... Nice one!

  • The best Pitchshifter album!

  • this song reminds me of brainscan everytime i love that movie

  • This guy has no tattoo's. Lol Not lookin so rock

  • @celica16vGT He may not have tattoos but metal is more about music than how the band members look

  • @Hefewy If it is mainly about the music and not how they look. Why is the UNTATOOED MAN acting like hes real tough smashing stuff up? Maybe he works in a library in the week hahahahahahahah

  • @celica16vGT WHO FUCKING CARES!?!?

  • @Pevertedcunt Go play with yo pervertedcunt.

  • Rebel, Rebel, Rebel!!!!

  • Only good song on the entire album. Otherwise, I don't even like this band. I'll take Godflesh or early SWANS any day.

  • 90s rocked everything to bits.

check out the movie Brainscan where this was in the soundtrack

  • @xxm1ndheadxx couldnt agree more, I miss the 90's and Brainscan was awesome

  • The only difference between the pre-96 and post-96 is a bloody programmer. They're still the same group. They've still got the same message. And they still kick donkeys.

  • Fuck I miss the 90's

  • what a fuck is it? ScreamingChim, you're Wrong, Pitchifter was born in 1996.

  • This music F**kin Rocks hard. Turn it up with 2000 watts and feel the power!!!!!!

  • this band is awsome

  • I think people have to understand a band can't crank out the same album 10 times in a row. Some bands evolve partially for their career's sake too! Give them credit, I think people throw the word "sellouts" and "traitors" too easily. The bands need food and shelter too, and its like working in any job. I'm still thinking this band makes music with the same intentions as they originaly started.

  • @blackwaterdrowning Erm, some bands CAN crank out the same album 10 times in a row. AC/DC have been releasing the same album for 30+ years!

  • @Jermyn78 of course you can, but if i were in a band with a high fan base, i wouldn't. Evolution, in any situation, is key for survival in any case! I get your point about ac/dc... but they are a perfect example as to why you shouldn't crank do so... in my opinion of course! Fans of a band might not mind hearing the same style, thats the beauty of music!

  • This is when Pitchshifter were in their prime. It's such a shame that for such an opinionated band, they became a victim of corporate control. You'll not recognise this band after the album "Infotainment". Confused ?!, so was I !

  • XxbossmunkeexX - that dude is J.S Clayden ...

  • wtf.... is that not even a fucking whole drumkit?

  • At one point i saw them a lot, including i think in february at the cathouse and april at the venue (or vice versa)in the same year (1999 i thnk). fuck the details, they were always fucking awesome live. ALWAYS.

  • I kinda like their sound ..

  • WHY is everyone dissing the band and what they choose to do on ALL of the threads for ALL of their videos?!? If you like ANY of it, respect them enough to respect what they want to do! I think that ALL of their stuff is great, genre-spanning as it may be! Give them props for being so talented and versatile or just STFU!

  • Agreed! Everyone is a critic and the majority of them don't have the references with which to criticize. Great band, through out.

  • This is the last good effort from Pitchshifter. I hate their new disco music.

  • This was when I found them! Always great to hear again.

I heard there's a new album coming! True?

eheh hard to believe but it's the same singer all the way!

  • I hope XxbossmunkeexX is taking the piss when he asks about whether this is the same singer! Open your eyes!

Their best song by a mile!

  • so many bands copied this shit...including static-x! SO pioneering!

  • You mean copied Ministry, right?

  • @WolgonDragolf -Them too...yes...

  • best album ever, after this the band became MTV addicted!

  • no NOOOOOOOOO i cant take this! wheres js clayden!

  • wtf? this isnt the same singer thats in microwave and genius! this guy sucks! i liked the other dude wat happened to him?

  • haha its the same singer. although its such a silly statement i could have walked into a joke

  • @XxbossmunkeexX this is the same guy what you're talking about?

  • Kinda depresses me how many people dont see the versatility in the bands ability to play both kinds of music, instead it becomes shades of 'class traitor' cause they dared to experiment with different music styles. I love pitchshifter of either era, they put on a great live show either way.

  • agreed =)

  • @SoulEdgeHarmonics Here here, I personally think the post era is much better an incredible amount of top quality songs which otherwise would not have allowed me to start liking this enitre genre. However even I (who comes from a far more electronic, dance area of music taste) can appreciate this good tune (thats as far as it goes for me though in this era). Above all Pitchshifter should be highly praised for enabling people like me to expand their musical appreciation.

  • @SoulEdgeHarmonics

I believe that when something is good, don't go trying to change it too fast. The were ground breakers in the one style, and instead of progressing with the one, they changed to another. When I look at bands like Napalm Death that have progressed in the number of years they have been around, they didn't change STYLES from one to another, they just modified what they had.

If it's not broke... Don't Fix it to something else, just modify what you have

  • @Robbietats Sadly I have to disagree, the evolution of a bands sound (as much as anything else) can be split into the gradual growth you speak of and also the paradigm shifts which move the goalposts overnight. A good example would be where bands/musicians change their sound to take advantage of new instruments/technology that simply wasnt available last week. In order for music to grow,to bring us from Bach to Boysetsfire and everything inbetween, you need big shifts, it cant all be slow change

  • @SoulEdgeHarmonics That's because people are sheep. You'll find that many of those that subscribe to "scenes" and portend to be "open-minded" are actually just groupthink automatons. Strength in numbers? I think not...

  • @SaintVitusCrush Music is eventually self defeating, the cycle seems to be 'enjoy>feel part of cool clique>feel clique is getting popular>distance self via new/extreme/heavier version of current clique>hate on old clique whilst distancing yourself from it(i never liked them anyway)>realise current spot is getting popular>blame kids these days + accuse band of 'selling out' > retreat to mums basement> rinse repeat.

Its sad, a good tune is a good tune.

  • Hands down, Pitch Shifter's "Desensitized" album was their BEST album by far. After "Infotainment?" it went all downhill in my opinion. I prefer the "Cookie Monster" style vocals over J.S. Clayden's whiny vocals on the later PSI releases. And yes, Pitch Shifter was GRINDCORE. Just listen to "Industrial" or "Submit" and you'll detect strong grindcore influences (in the same vein as Godflesh).

    Take care

    trollcrusher242

By the way ... "D" (the drummer in this vid) was the coolest of the band.

  • Ah, remember hearing this in Brainscan.

  • Yeah I watched Brainscan earlier and reminded me of all the good bands in the 90's...so I decided to look up every song from the movie. Guess what? There were 14 songs, I could only find 4 that existed, and the 5th had it's audio cut off. -___- I couldn't find the other bands that were in the movie...it surprises me how the 90's kinda died out, especially for youtube to not even have these songs/bands -___- So...I'm sad ;-;

  • classic movie, talk about letting video games go to your head haha

  • classic from the 90s reminds me of helmet

  • this was back when pitchshifter was awesome too bad they suck now

  • exactly

  • PITCH SHIFTER FOR EVER yeahhh the best Grindcore

  • This isnt grindcore!

  • Yeah get your music facts straight! NOT GRINDCORE.

  • The last time I listened to this band was when Deviant came out, and I kind of lost interest. Now they sound exactly like Biohazard with Al Jourgensen as their singer.

  • This is their old stuff.

    Long before they released Deviant.

  • i love the P.Hs

  • Is fuckin real good, dude... the hard core PURE...

  • Propa tune!

  • the best of pitchshifter yeah..

  • Old and good times. P.S.: I like all the albums of Pitchshifter.

  • fckin love this song

  • he's smashing up a tv. but we're watching it on a screen...?

  • rip it down!!!

  • other than Meshuggah, these guys were far ahead of thier time!

  • I'll 2nd that! as I've always dug both Mesh & PSI for there efforts in pioneering metal in different ways

  • this is a song from their "pitch shifter" (not pitchshifter) era...from the 1993 album Desensitized...amazin like all their work.

  • looking for a nice triad but i found _THIS_ -.- -.- -.-

  • this song was in the movie "brainscan" ... cool flick and great song

  • luv it

  • I wish there was still stuff like this in the charts.

  • yeah...

  • charts? what charts? I haven't tuned in a radio or turned on "music" tv in years.

  • Both before and after was great. Bands have to evolve to where they are because listening/creating the same s**t all the time gets boring.

  • yeah right, brainscan is one of my favourite movies ever

  • this song was on Brainscan

  • Thats not JS Clayden singing

  • Yes it is.

I think it is at least.

  • he's using a harmonizer effect

  • Thank god JS learned to sing! Love shifter so much but shit if any off you guys are new to this tune check out on their live dvd, playing this live! One of the best bands the UK has ever produced!

  • i saw pitchshifter at the phoenix festival and the drummer stood there battering the shit outta two drums just like in this video, i think he would have done it all week if thye'd let him. also saw them at the old camden palace when they had loads of those little bits of paper with messages about culture etc on flying all over the place.

i love 'em and i love this song!

  • I was replying to "moparmonster1965" comment about Dave Walters (shifter's old (Live) drummer) and to quote "He looks pretty fucked up in this video, too." and i wrote!...., well you know what i wrote!.

  • is the same band that made Microwaved and Dead Battery!?...so different :S

  • Yep, it is

  • i paused the video at 00:27 & saw the drummers face!

but seriously this a great song with a great band & i wish they would make another album.

  • Brand new Pitchshifter fan here, I know I'm late but still the music lives on, for real.

    Heavy band.

So this band is over then? That sucks, I'm living proof that more fans will come along still though.

  • Pitch Shifter died in 1996. Unless you mean talking about that DnB, Nu Metal act that carry a similar name.

  • Dont get what you mean here. Do you mean to say you hate the Pitchshifter vibe after 1996? I wouldn't agree. There has been both positives & negitive on all phases.

  • I don't mind some of the post 96 stuff but it still feels like a disapointment.

I guess Im a little bitter over the Deviant album.

  • @ScreamingChim The best stuff came after 1996......so they didn't die

  • @ScreamingChim But I do love the old stuff too

  • I think Infotainment was actually quite good, also. pitcshifter(dot)com was the last album which was very strong (imo), but they continued to have good songs right up to the end (Hidden Agenda is a strong release, I think) - and yes, I've been a fan since Submit, and love Submit and Desensitized.

  • Agree with the comment that Industrial was their finest hour, still a good band though

  • both eras kick major ass

  • oh this is from Desensitized album..one of the best albums of the 90's,my personal favorite.... Industrial,Submit and this one are excellent, the other albums are so weak, nothing really..shame...Thanx for this up,though...

  • i saw them in march of 06 and they played this and it was terrible. it's my favourite pitchshifter song and it sounded moany and a bit linkin parky im sorry to say.

  • cool this movie end the music so good

  • i wanna find something of em when mtt godfrey played live with em....hes my lil girls dad xx

  • matt godfrey was just a live guitarist for them for like a week!

  • a week more than u managed then......

  • True dat, well I was only six at the time and the frets were too big. I was merely replying to your comment (being the shifter nutt that i am since yay high) to say that the guy was only in the band for a little while, just to fill in live for Stu Toolin who was fired in 92/93, matt never played on an album, never appeard in the videos (unless thats him on rythem guitar in the deconstruction vid?) and went to form houdini.

  • i didnt realise he was only with em for such a short while..... no wonder he doesnt pay me child supprt anymore lol. I do know tht my mate and her daughter are thanked on back of one of their earlier albums (sharon and rachael)...thats a really old album as Rachaels now a mum herself and was only a lil girl when the LP came out I will just get my daughyter to ask her dad if he any stuff from when he played for them x

  • lol, It was me who actually added him in the shifter's wikipedia seeing that know one knew of his presence in PSI, nore did I till JS mentioned him once on the messageboard regarding past members (his name is on the PSI family tree secion on there DVD too!). Infact the only orginal guys left are JS and Mark! (the founders/bros). Ask matt what he thinks of there "major label" efforts like ".com" etc, as that was my era of PSI back in '98, I was there youngest fan!.

  • The lead singer looks way different back then.

  • they still play this song live and it sounds so diffrent!

  • their old stuff is the best this track is GRINDING big time. they should make a return to it cuz theres not enough of it about

  • I saw these in Nottingham in 1998, and the drummer was battered on speed...how the hell he played a set is still a mystery to me...

  • He looks pretty fucked up in this video, too.

  • maybe thats why they got jason bowld in?!..

  • Can you elaborate?

  • Nah, D left because he didn't like they way the musical direction was going...

  • I know, plus the fact that johnny was going to leave at the time. tbh though, I would of though D would of left back in 97 while PSI were demoing ".com". cos "deviant" wasn't much of a departure imo.

  • edit - "I would of "thought"

  • Dude, wasn't it Sheffield or Bradford and I introduced you to D before the gig?!

  • Maybe the drummer wouldn't suck so bad if he took a seat.

  • The early material is far better; this is as hard as it get, boys and girls.

  • Cool, didn't know there were videos for their earlier tracks til now :)
