  • Ebay is also good for keeping cost down.

  • not realy u can get an rtf trex clone for £100 it is the titan 450 from ebay

  • Hey im living in Jamaica and i got myself a 3.5 channel co-axial heli last Christmas and i am thinking about upgrading to this EXI 450 SE(same as above) or a 500 size heli but i wanna use the Fly Sky th9x 2.4GHz 9channel Radio. THIS COMBO is just under $200 which is in my budget for a 3D heli. It will be my first time building a heli from a kit. would you recomend this for me as a beginner to 6 channel...? if no which is the CHEAPEST 6 channel KIT you recomend?

  • WOW. Not only do you have great skills in flying, but you also have great skills in Puppetry. LOL

  • It's soo convenient that all your packages came at the same time. I wish mail worked that way.

  • wow. the ESC is bulletproof

  • Hey does anyone know which is better? Xheli now has a newer exi 450 kit I think it's v3 ... Does anyone know if it'll setup the same as the v2? It doesn't look as customizable as the one shown on this video, the landing bars look like they're only one piece pls help I want to know which one to get

  • its actually flightmax but whatever

  • here mikey what happens if your helicopter uses a 7.4 v and you put a 11.1 v in it??

  • @xToXiicxT3RRoRx You will probably burn up the ESC / receiver combo unit.

  • @MikeysRC oh right thanks does it matter if you use a 7.4 n but a different mah

  • @xToXiicxT3RRoRx Yes. But you can use a slightly larger / bigger mah. mah is just how big the battery is = how long the heli will run = heavier battery

  • @MikeysRC so then whats the difference in volts

  • @xToXiicxT3RRoRx Just that.....one os 11.1 and the other is 7.4. One has more volts. More volts = spins motor faster. BUT your ESC might not be built to handel 11.1 volts.

  • @MikeysRC oh right ok thanks for the help :)

  • @MikeysRC whats the best and battery for the 9101 to give me the most flight time and if ya can do a vid on how to install that battery

  • nicely done wid the puppet

  • hi mikey, my parts hav turned up but there is 1 thing missing. the body has not cum in the box. i looked on xheli and it said it was in stock. dus anyone know why or wil it cum in a different package .

    PLZ RESPOND

  • @Twisterr1000 I don't know exactly what you ordered bu usually the canopy comes in the same box.

  • @MikeysRC all of the servos an the esc and ll tat came ut the arf exi 450 v2 frame kit didnt come it the order. wil it cum in a different box because of something like a weight limit since i liv in the uk. v.v. annoyig pos i hav the otor, esc, servos , pinion, tx and reciever pack but just not the frame kit. there wos a parts list on the side of the box and the frame kit wos crossed out.

    thx

  • @Twisterr1000 Sorry I can't understand what you are asking. But I don't work for the company you bought your stuff from. The best way to get an answer is to contact them.

  • they dont have a telebee heli gyro on the site (there is only one for cars so wot would u suggest

  • @Twisterr1000 The Detrum GY...something It's like only $12.00

  • @MikeysRC thx man. u hav hwlped me so much poss without u i would hav a rubish heli. u r the best vid maker ever

  • they dont stok the esky motor anymore. whitch 1 do i go 4 (would like it to be for xheli pos i live in england so only wont to pay 4 1 postage

  • on ur sit there is no buy option and wen u clik on payment option is ses tht there is no parts in stok. i would realy like to buy the art 450 clone pos there are hardly any deals with all the bits in it. if u no anywhere else tht does tht can u re. u should get sum more parts in pos u r realy gd

    thx

  • @Twisterr1000 Hey there. Sorry those are old links I forgot to remove. I'm no longer selling helicopters.

  • One more question: could you use remote control like that as a remote for flight simulator? Best regards

  • Greatings from Bosnia. Great videos. I have one question. Could you give me ansver on it. Will model like that be capable of 3D flight?

  • I have the kit and am getting ready to buy the batteries and charger from Hobbycity/Hobbyking. Do you have one on their website that you recommend?

  • Hello

I have one question. I want to star building one model like this one,but I am interested which model of T-REX 450 is better. One whit belt driven tail rotor,or one whit shaft driven. Could you tell me + and - for both of them. Thank you. You are the best.

  • I'm using much the same stuff as in here (so I have been told by you lol) I really don't know what I am doing tbh but I think your vidios are helping me out loads thank you my friend :)

  • wouldnt you want a 40A for a 450 instead of your 30A?

  • @rootbear31 Yes. If you click in the "more info" drop down button you will see I'm no longer recommending a 30 amp.

  • Hey Will this is the same as the last one because I ran out of room, but can you do a review on the Turnigy 9x 9ch 2.4ghz radio from hobbyking. I heard that this is a popular radio because of it price 60 DOLLARS for a 9ch radio, and I want to know if there right ( it not really 9ch but 8ch on ccpm) (ie 2.4ghz). The quailty is nice not as good as the dx6i.

  • @12860682321 I have never used this radio. It's probably worth the $60 plus slow shipping though.

  • Hey Will I building my own t rex 450 and I want to know if these electronic will work. HK-450 CCPM 3D Helicopter Barebone kit HK450 size Pinion Gear 3.17mm/13T 401B AVCS Digital Head Lock Gyro Fiberglass Main Blade 325mm Fiberglass Canopy for Trex-450 HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo Hobbyking SS Heli Series 50-65A ESC Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack and a Turnigy 9x 9ch 2.4 ghz radio. Total cost 170 dollars w shipping.
  • @12860682321 You didn't say what motor or motor KV you are using so I don't know if a 13 tooth is right. Also 50-60 amp ESC is overkill. You only need a 40 amp with a 50 amp burst ESC.

  • @MikeysRC I'm using a 3500 kv 450/500 heli motor with 600 watt motor more 100 more then the normal 450 motor. and I want to know if the battery is going to be all right because the motor recommends to have a 50 amp speed control. If not then can you tell me were the throttle is going to be to to match 40 amps because I don't want to puff up the battery.

  • I cant see where to add the 450 helicopter frame with CNC Metal rotor head and tail to the cart

    ?

    -Bruce-

  • I just started this hobby and your videos helped a lot, tks and congrats on the videos.

  • How much would you sell one of these builds prebuilt?

  • Is hobbycity and hobbyking the same website?

If so why would they have different names for the same online store?

  • Hey, I got a question. When I put my throttle stick about halfway up, the tail servo reacts and pitches the tail rotor so much that its almost close to maxing out. so I can't really turn the rudder to the right. at full throttle the entire piece is maxed so I can only turn the tail to the left.. Is that supposed do that? And it seems centered alright as well. I don't know how to remedy this. Thanks

  • HobbyCity sells the t rex version 2 now

  • i just got the same helicopter today and when i got it it was missing the rubbers body groments and one flybar paddle

  • the EXI 450 v2 was on was on sale so i paid 30$ for it the best deal for me

  • Hi, I was wondering if a Hk 401 gyro would be alright because I have already got one.?

  • @thishleo Never used one but I'm pretty sure it will.

  • You got me hooked... ordered one today.... We will see how it goes.

  • When will tour store be open again?

  • @Mcrichalot12 Not for a while if at all.

  • 3:14 what's a Nine Head Bar?

  • @shangsandy87 Knight head.......I think that's the proper term.....they support the tail boom.

  • These videos are very helpful,I'm building the 450 and these videos make it so much easier. Thanks MikeysRC.

  • this is not lightmax :D its F-lightmax

  • I have question about battery i had 20c 11.1v 2200mah can i put 30c 2800mah 11.1v into my heli ? esc 30a.

  • @luki01111 yes it will fly with that....a little bit heavier than is necessary. But you should have at least a 40 amp ESC.

  • Dude your awsome i would like to get one of those.

  • im scared to get a gyro thats not analog because the servos are analog right

  • You can use analog or digital servos. Just make sure you have the switch flipped the right way on your gyro.

  • The assembly part only applies to the Trex clones. The throttle and pitch curves will apply to other 450 helicopters. The motor , ESC, servos and battery should all work on other 450's but no guarantee there.

  • when describing gyros, does "Head holding" mean the same as "Head locking" ?

  • yes

  • does the heli spin left when you punch the throttle?

  • are the servos micro?

  • Yeah 9 gram micro servos.

  • Hi Mikey,

I've ordered the same radio transmitter/receiver, but the seller didn't have extra receivers for it. Do you know if there are receivers compatible with it?

(any 2.6 Ghz receiver would be compatible or it must be from the same brand?)

These videos really inspire me. Can't wait to get my orders so I start building the models.

    Cheers,

  • Hobby king sells the receivers by themselves.

  • can i olso get the motor end esc that comes as an option with the kit

  • yes

  • Love your videos , Keep them coming!!!!!

  • The Telebee head locking gyro that you have in the video is now lowered to 24.79 now on Hobbycity :)

  • Yeah but don't buy it it sucks! The one I'm selling now in my store actually works.

  • hay can i ask you a question can you make a video on building a 250 helli for a cheep price

  • Yeah good idea. Might not get to it for a while though.

  • oh ok cool let me know when you do cause i have a mini collection of RS4 , erevo , and a blade cx2 and a 250 will Finnish my collection

  • Hello Mikey, How come you do not sell the Esky EK2-0704B Head Lock Gyro on your site? I find it to be extremely stable in flight and very easy to setup. The price of them are very cheap and can be bought from anywhere including ebay.

  • Yes I agree. I'm still looking for another supplier for these. They are nice HH gyros.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this gyro: "Detrum GY48V HH Headklock Professional RC Helicopter Gyro" be an acceptable replacemen for the one you specify? im on a really tight budget. this one is cheaper than the one you specify. just curious.

  • Looks like it might work. But I have never used it so I don't know. There are so many gyros out there these days.

  • Cool, either is fine with me =).

  • Yeah, great way to start.

  • I have watched this video 3 times.I can't help from laughing at the opening its great. What software do you use to edit your videos.I like the captions that you add they can be funny and helpful . Also had someone throw the f bomb on one of my favorite flight videos and would like to remove it.I have a flip video camera .Thanks

  • I edit in imovie. Very east to use.

  • Maybe I didn't hear it very well but I thought you said lightmax by the lipo, you forgot the F, it's flightmax ;) I use the same Lipo on my mini titan e325 and I love these batteries, they are a lot better than flightpower batteries. Flightpower batteries are constantly balancing and have less power then the flightmax. But it's cool that you made those video's. I'm sure you helped a lot of people with it. :)

  • LOL....you are right. No, you heard me right. When I looked at the sticker on the battery I just thought the "F" was a cool looking flame.......LOL...Yeah I should have said Flightmax. Thanks for the catch =). I hear the Mini Titan is a real smooth helicopter.

  • This is a fun,educational,helpful video.I just ordered a exi450 10 min ago.I have a trex600e,blade400,bladecp pro2,honeybeev2,two honeybeefp, just wanted to do a cheap build.I order most from xheli,hobbyking and helidirect.

  • I think you still need to get more helicopters! =)

  • Hii mikey, i looked on xheli site to get one of these but it would cost way to much to get posted to the uk so can you tell me if these are any good i think they are the same just a diffrent name

ebay item numbers are (i dont think it lets me post links)

    150372609292

and is it worth paying more for the alloy upgrades on it

    400070205819

hope you can check them out thanks gary

  • Hi Gary,

I would go for the 400070205819. well worth the extra money. Too bad you have to assemble the whole thing though.

  • Thanks mikey will the videos be the same setting it up with the alloy bits?? i know it will be diffrent but in the basic still be the same?

  • Yes the setup basics are the same.

  • r the 450s easer or more stable to fly rather than a hbk2 thats what i have thanks

  • Yes, then are bigger and more precise flying machines. I use to have a HBK2. It was a good stepping stone but not something to fly on forever.

  • Great videos! But i'm living in europe. We don't have this cheap shops, all parts are very expensive. :(

  • im living in holland and if youre handy on ebay you can, i it to and have a lot for 1 dollar :) totall cost now around 100 euro for everything brand new

  • i am also going to build me the same one, under your instructions cool man.

  • Hobbycity has at least 30 bucks shipping.

  • wish i saw this last year when i spent probley 1100$ on my heli and its not flying cuzz i spent all my money but for next time ill know and for replacement servos!

    thanks man

  • Hey Mikey! I'm having trouble acquiring the Transmitter PDF manual. It seems that helipro-rc is a SPAM type site. Is there another location where I can get the PDF?

  • O MAN, SORRY. It must have just changed because that's where I got it from. Thanks for letting me know. I just updated the info on the side bar. Please sen me an e-mail at mikey@mikeysrc (dot) com then I can send you the PDF's

  • turbos Dom!

  • hey mikey i love youre vids,

im starting to 450 size to now.

    i have a question about battery's

    it's about the c number.

    is a 20c bether or a 30 c.

where does it stand for? unloading speed-resistance.

sorry for my bad englis im from holland.

am i right that how higher the c number gives the most power per sec?

    thanks so far,

    Zeb

  • Hi Dragon69fly. Yes you got it right. The "C" rating does refer to the battery's ability to quicky let go of it's energy. Generally the higher "C" batteries will be more expensive and also a little heavier when comparing between two batteries of the same voltage and capacity. For the 450 size helicopter a 20C is plenty especially if you aren't going to be doing 3D tricks and aggressive flying.

  • Thanks Mikey,

    That realy helps me.

To bad i saw youre vid this late.

Now i have already orderd some 2450mha 30c 11.1v 3s lipo's for 1 dollar :) at ebay site. also is my heli underway. so i think the price is ok :) i wasnt planning to do 3d tricks i like scale flying most.... well for now.

I love youre vids. mabey a vid for maintenance and lubrication for a longer life span? i dont know where and what to keep in mind and what stuff.

Thanks man youre my hero :)

    God Speed,

    Zeb

  • Zeb, thanks for the compliments. Your are going to make my head get big =). How heavy is that battery? Yeah I'm sure I'll get into the maintenance in the future. Aside from crashes thought it's actually a pretty maintenance free heli. Just make sure to check all the screws for tightness after every couple flights.

  • Hi Mikey, well when every thing arives ill send the data to ya, or i make a litle vid of my stuf to (A)

Im happy to know now that it is a pretty maintenance free heli. i live In The Middle Of Nowhere like rc shops. so i have always to figure out every thing myself. I Fly a copple of years a 4 channel ikarus picolo fun(own 2 of them but both tail motors are fried now) olmost fully upgraded, but want fly bigger scale. Youre are my biggest help now so thanks for that.

    cya

  • You're welcome. GLad I could help.

  • thanks miky i lie all your videos i have the graupner 47g

  • Great vid! I was thinking of getting a real TREX 450 or an EFlite Blade 400... But dont have enough money yet. Now you are going to show us how it is done on a budget, I might just wait for it? Ill go through and read all the comments now.. but if noone asked yet, how is the next installment coming along?

  • I'm getting very close to posting the next video in this series. I have the servos, skids, and paddles mounted and the belt tensioned. Basically just have to solder up the ESC and program the transmitter. I haven't seen a cheaper Trex clone helicopter package anywhere cheaper for how much I'm doing it for. Though.......anyone please comment back if you know of one so everyone else can know too.

  • Yes, a little =). Well if you are a patient person you will be OK. And if you watch my "Learn How To FLy RC Helicopter" video series you will also get a big leg up on the learning curve. Also make sure to ge ta set of training gear for the helicopter. This will really reduce the chance of breaking blades. Let me know if you need more help.

  • Just learning to fly planes (electric) with the help of LipoPilot. I bought it from RCGroups without receiver and servos for $135. LipoPilot tweeted your videos and got me interested in building a helicopter. Great Job. Looking forward to the rest of the build. The puppet ROCKS!

  • Cool, thank you!

  • Great videos! Would my DX7 radio be sufficient to fly the helicopter?

  • O heck yeah! DX7 is an awesome transmitter. What are you flying currently with it?

  • Thanks for making these films! I was going to get a Belt CPv2, but now I'm going to have to think real hard. I am mastering the Lama V3 andhave the urge to develop, but on a budget. Looking forward to the next film in the series!

  • Hi, glad you like the videos! If you are mastering the lama you will really appreciate a helicopter like the EXI or almost any Trex 450 clone for that matter. DO this as part of your research. Go to a couple of your local hobby shops and see if they carry many parts for the Belt......especially compared to spare parts for the T-rex 450. That might help you decide =).

  • Our local hobby shops sux. :) I'd be lucky if they had any part for any helicopter in. I count them out and aim for webshops straigt away.

That said, would you go for a Belt or the Exi? Living in Sweden, shipping adds up when ordering from the US. You mention that the Honey Bee's feel lika toys, do you think that applies to the Belt v2? I can get one for about $290 with shipping. Building would be fun though.

  • To answer my own Question, the project would run me $299 with shipping to Sweden, without taxes that might apply. A belt CP is $290 in all. Can someone say if the 450 clone is better than an Esky Belt CP?

  • I've never flown the belt but I have looked at many pictures of it. It is a stronger slightly bigger helicopter than the HoneyBee King 2 so it would fly less like a toy but I'd still go with the EXI. You might want to do a little internet searching because there are many suppliers in China that have Trex 450 clones like the EXI. Is shipping any cheaper from China to Sweden?

  • Hey Mikey,

Ok the binding process is done.

Now i would just like to know the setup information.

I mean like which servo goes in which channel?

If you could provide some kinda of picture and upload it somewhere, that'll be really helpful.

    Thank you

  • O man, you are getting ahead of me. =) I should hopefully be getting to this step be early next week. And hopefully by that time I can send you the config file for the transmitter too.

  • Alrighty, lol I'll wait for you to catch up. lolz

  • Mikey,

Do i need a receiver battery to bind my receiver?

Or i can use ESC since it has BEC in it?

  • Your ESC will work just fine. But be sure to have the bind plug in the "BAT" port in the RX too.

  • Hey Mikey, I currently fly an esky belt cp with most everything stock, except for one hitec hs 55 servo on elevator, a better esc, and a hitec hs 56hb on the tail. I was wondering if it would be possible to buy this clone of the Trex, and transfer all my electronics from the belt cp to the EXI. Also would it be possible to setup my heli with the stock radio from the belt cp? Also do you know of any headlock gyros that have the gain on the gyro, so you dont have to adjust it from the transmitter?

  • There is a good chance the electronics from the Belt would work on the EXI. My main concern is that the servo control horns from the Belt might be hard to mound the metal balls for the ball links on. Unfortunately since the swash plate is 180 degrees different than the EXI....even with servo reversing on the Esky TX I don't think it would work. So the motor(and motor pinion), ESC, battery, servos, will probably work. The transmitter, receiver will probably need to be upgraded.

  • O yeah forgot to answer the gyro question. I think most newer head lock gyros should be able to be adjusted on the gyro with out the transmitter. Just make sure that little extra wire is NOT connected to your receiver....then all your adjustment should be on the gyros gain screw. The gyro on your BeltCP should work like this and also Telebee Head Lock & Standard Gyro found on the HobbyCity website should do it. It's only $34 too! =)

  • Thanks for the reply, about the servo reversing I could always buy a servo reverser for any servo's that go the wrong direction, I already had to buy one for the hitec servo on the elevator to get it to go in the right direction, and they work great. I could also just buy new servo arms that would fit better, or use some of the spare servo arms that come with a new servo. I have heard I should use an 11t pinion for the exi, What do you use? Thanks for the help!

  • test

  • Lol yeah Mikey we do appreciate it.

Keep up the good work and when we get our helis ready, we'll post a video and the special thanks will go to you.

  • Good to hear from you Mikey. Also, thank you very much for helping this community by doing these videos. I don't know if people told you or not, but we really appreciate your work.

  • Thanks! I'm having lots of fun doing this! And I really appreciate those kind words.

  • Hey Mikey,

How do i know which way the servos are going to move?

Once they are mounted and if i find out that they are moving in the wrong direction, will i be able to reverse them using the transmitter software?

  • Yes you will be able to use the software to "reverse" the direction of the servo. I will be making the next video in this series soon and this is one of the first things I'll be going over.

  • Hey Mikey,

    My package arrived nicely.

Everything is there. Now its just matter of putting it together

Can you help me out. Like as i've said before, I am new to this and i would need you help.

We can start with positioning servos right. :D

    Thank you,

    -Ankit

  • Hi Ankit,

Yes you can start by putting the servos in, though make sure that the way you put them in allows for the servo horn to ba attached and then the swash plate push rods to be completely vertical when they attach to the servo horn. Sorry it's taken me so long to do more videos on the helicopter.....I was on vacation =). But I'm back and making more videos now!

  • no problem you should be in show biz. i showed a friend he laught his azz off

  • intro funny as hell, your the best very informative and entertaining.

  • Thanks for the comment, Glad you like the video, I like to make people laugh.

  • Hey Mikey,

I am still waiting for my package. Also, I think i found another website that sells servos and all that for less price. I will email you if you to review it and if possible you can post it here to make it more cheaper for your subscribers.

    -Ankit

  • Comment removed

  • Yes please send me a link. I'll take a look. And thanks for helping to try and make it even cheaper =).

  • thanks man this will help a bunch iv been flying rc planes for about 6 years im 15 and started my first trainer when i was ninw and was always wnating to get into rc helis but never did i tink im gunna thanks man 5*

  • Thanks for the rating. I'm glad I could help inspire you to try helis, they are really fun!

  • Hey man,

sorry I am new and I have a question for you.

You didn't mention anything about the tail motor for this helicopter.

Now trust me, even though I am a new flyer I ordered everythign after looking at your videos.

I went through some videos and I was just wondering about the tail motor.

Hope to get your reply soon.

Also, thanks for the video 5/5.

  • THANKS for the rating and checking out my videos. No worries, you already got everything you need. There is no tail motor since the tail rotor is driven by a belt off of the main motor / gear. It's much better than a helicopter with a tail motor. Since you are new I would definitely recommend buying a set of training gear.

  • Sure, I just added that to the list. Also, i had to do a little change. THey dont have 2200mAH battery sow i went for the 1800mAH one. Now, is it going to make big different in the flight time or in birdy's performance?

  • You might have about 1 minuet less flight time on average. But that's just a guess. My bigger concern is that with a lighter battery it might be harder to make the helicopter balance properly, it might be tail heavy. Can you send my the link to the battery you got? You can try to post it here but sometimes YouTube doesn't like posting links in the comments section....so you can send me a privat message if you want to.

  • You've got a great thing going here. Very creative and entertaining. Keep it up.

  • Thanks! Glad you like it.

  • wow thats realy nice of you to do that for some one

  • lucky i had to pay 20$ fo a box the size of a shoo! (one shoo not both)

  • Haha.. the puppet is so awesome!

  • Thank you I was long looking for a good tutorial build video like thing one, your effort is greatly appreciated!

  • now a 300$ RTF trex 600 clone would be just orgasmic! :D

  • Looking good Will=5*

  • Cool Vid. Mikeys!

  • LMAO! that puppet is ACE! nice job man!

  • lol do i have to mention that i have the airwolf theme playing in my head for days until i get the heli delivered :D
