While I do not always agree with Dennis Kucinich, it is totally reprehensable that he was not allowed to participate in this debate. He has been in all of the others, and is a sincere man. Shame on the newpaper that did this.
If Ron Paul wasn't running, Kucinich would have my vote. This bothers me and I hope some people get pissed off and will result in a change in the way we set up our debates. There are so many technicalities in government and in many areas of society because of our expanding population and globalizationn that everything is so impersonal. There are many things that just don't make sense any more. We need huge change in many areas of the government.
Actually, since all the national initiative does is add another legislative branch whose laws would still subject to supreme court rulings on their constitutionality, the initiative can't produce tyranny, only keep it in check.
People should have a right to make their own laws.
Enforcement is a separate issue. If a law is ruled unconstitutional it is no longer law. In order for the supreme court to rule on constitutionality it would have to have been appealed at a lower state or federal level.
I trust the the supreme court a lot more than the CIA or military tribunals and paramilitary forces...
slaves and women had the same fears those folks do when they were first confronted with whether they should participate in government. Look at the polls.. Americans know this war is wrong. All Americans want Cheney impeached and Bush atlest censured. That is more adequate and logical then any of the games being played on capital hill. Now just imagine if those polls were votes. How much faster progress would be made. It saddens me to see people that don't understand these simple measures.
btw in fairness to Dennis, he did speak out when he felt Hillary and Edwards were stitching up the debates after the whole open microphone incident, but you're right, they should all be standing up for each other.
I totally agree with you. Gravel's treatment by the media and in the debates has been scandalous too. Personally, I prefer Gravel, he's a great man who'd make a great pres. but either would be cause for celebration.
where were you when Mike Gravel got censored? wtf man? Dennis had his chance to expose the game when Mike was excluded but he just played along and look where it got him.
I am awake, I know how the elections SHOULD be run, the main mechanism of control is depriving the public of information when the major media presents the news. gomey70, this guy has this weird idea in his head about "big government"
That is like arguing that just because a particular big truck doesn't perform well, we should get rid of all big trucks. It is a dumb argument.
People starting to wake up?? How does fascism feel??? If you don't vote for Kucinich, you folks will really feel the rath of fascism! This is just a start.....WATCH OUT!!
IF they don't like it then they should contact the newspaper and others and say that it is BS to exclude Kucinich from the debate. Kucinich should be in the debate.

Could you guys who organize these marches organize a Kucinich info march through New Hampshire to distribute the facts about why Kucinich is the only choice for the Democratic Primary.
Humans will be extinct within 100 yrs. People don't care about anything, except sitting comfortably in their living room, believing lies on the news, and driving around in SUVs.
RP, this seems like the sort of occurrence that would be suitable for Keith Olbermann's "Worst Persons in the World" list. Have you (or any others who agree with what I'm saying) considered contacting him about this and providing a link to this video?
z\Same thing happened to Ron Paul in a major Republican debate in Iowa before the Iowa Straw Poll. People all over the Country complained loudly and in great numbers -- to no avail. Paul was still excluded. Paul rented the hall next door and gave a speech. Paul had many more supporters that attended his speech, than those that actually attended the debate. Paul has since won more straw polls across the Country than any other Republican candidate.
As far as Dennis goes, I believe ALL candidates should be able to participate in ANY debate because the public invariably benefits from it. The People must be fully-informed before an election. I find it extremely unfair (reprehensible) when any recognized candidate that wishes to attend a debate is unfaily excluded. Complain loudly to try to get Kucinich into the debate.
Lastly, and in my humble opinion, Ron Paul is the best choice for President and is my first choice. However, I do respect Dennis, and wish him the best in having his voice heard in this and every subsequent public debate.
The Des Moines Register has only made itself look unprincipled in this matter. Apparently, they imagine that storefronts and staff (bringing money to Des Moines) is the important thing, as opposed to DK's views having a chance to be expressed (even if the debate-holder believes DK has no chance of winning).
The most useful resource of humanity lies in the ability of the people to act as autonomous agents who make decisions and adjust on a local situation. It therefore makes no sense to undermine this advantage by unnecessarily restraining the power of the people to make choices. The aim at big central government does not have logic that would make the system work.
ommommoo, I am not sure what you even men by the terms you use. This whole concept of "big government" means what exactly? big relative to what? Big enough to get a certain task accomplished is a good thing. You are using a term so vague. what is small, medium and big? Are big libraries bad?
maxx1000, sorry to hear you are a Stalin fan. (but you're not really and you though what you wrote was clever.) I disagree with you. You seem to have confused a totalitarian state with a democratic sate, that is a serious error. You see, what Stalin had going is basically the opposite of what I am calling for.
I am from Dubai and caught the debate by chance last night. I remembered seeing D.Kucinich's interviews either here or elsewhere on youtube and was sadly suprised not to see him on the debate.
The general public didn't control the Soviet Union, so why bring it up? You aren't afraid that when you walk into a public library you might end up in the Gulag are you?
You know, some people are thinking they like Kucinich but won't vote for him. Thats like me saying I like a candidate who is against illegal wars but I'm gonna support a candidate who will keep the troops in war. Like Kucinich said, if you don't vote your heart, your heart never wins.
He embarrasses the front runners because he has been right on all the issues from the start. So first the marginalize him, then they never let him speak, and now they disqualify him because he didn't rent a office?
I know, this is fascist. that is why we need a public forum that is under total control of the Americna people and not a small handful of people like Carolyn Washburn (see link in "About this Video")
I think he's sayng that regardless which party is in power, totalitarianism will continue to increase. State control increases under both dems and reps - the dems via social programs and PC laws, reps via military and domestic crime laws. Voting for either side (xcept Paul, Kucinish, Gravel) won't change anything - this is by design.
The underlying evil is monetary policy. Our government gave the banks sole funding power of our government in 1913 - reinforced in 1971. The wealthy run this country through its ability to fund the government. Every dollar spent by the federal government is borrowed from the banks; tax revenue only pays back the loans plus interest (mainly just the interest). Those with the money always have the power.
When you give up your freedoms (by voting for a representative), you give up the input and control from your hands. There would be nothing wrong with that if participating in the vote was voluntary and you had the right to any time after revoke your vote and reclaim your rights you had previously surrendered. But as this is not the case in a socialist democracy where people are forced to surrender through elections.
what in the world are you selling ommommoo? Are you against representative government? I want GREATER public conrtol of the process, so why are you talking about "giving up freedoms"?
I'm not against representative government. I just think that we as a peoples of our respective homelands should realize that most convenient and effective society for everybody would be such that we wouldn't coerce people into cooperation on matters they don't want to be part of, as long as those who do not participate do not hurt anybody. Greater (more invasive) public control inevitably brings about more corruption and unjust use of power.
Representative government really is about giving up freedoms. I think this is not under dispute. And as I said, I think the electorate should decide that they want to give up only those rights that are needed to guarantee that nobody can deprive us of even more of our rights. Night watchman state.
