I'm not sure exactly why. The EC-135 & 145 have a longer warmup period than do the Bell and MD helicopters, but only a 30 second cool down, which is much shorter than the 2 minute cool down by man of makes of helicopters
why does it take 8 minutes to warm up the helicopter? Once the engine is hot and all systems check out (2-3 minutes) wouldn't you be ok to fly? What more needs to be done with this helicopter vs other helicopters?
The Warmup time in Germany for the EC145 for rescue missions is 90-120 seconds. The warmup time for EC-135 is 90 seconds (average).
