If I declined any relationship invitations, I was called a "B" and told I was stuck up just for saying, "No, I just want to be alone right now." I am very comfortable to walk down the street. But that could be just me; I come from the inner city of Philadelphia, PA and hijab is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I honestly don't like to be visually molested.

there is BIG difference between a HIJAB and a HEAD SCARF! Hijab is the Arabic term used to describe the attire worn by Muslim women. The literal meaning of Hijab is 'covering', but this term also carries a more general connotation of 'modesty'. Hijab as a social practise thus embraces not only clothing but also values and BEHAVIOR . so you my friend aren't wearing a real hijab! :)

Like you, I'm not muslim, but I like to wear hijab and other head scarves simply for warmth and to block the wind. I also really like that when I cover my hair, men don't look at me in a sexual way. I always worry that it's perhaps offensive or wrong for me to wear it, but I try to do so carefully.

I've read that to some Muslim women the hijab is almost symbolic of being Muslim- that it may be considered disrespectful to wear it because you do not share their faith. I really don't understand this claim... why wouldn't they want more women to cover up? Should non-muslims be immodest simply because they are Muslim? @ToxicMonkies In the Torah women are prescribed the veil, though for different reasons. I know that religious Jews wear hijab but most wear wigs. I don't think Muslim women would be offended if you wear it. But some (Muslim) women with hijab dress ugly or dirty when outside their homes, or drink alcohol etc and that offends me.
I think it depends on your friend's beliefs, and by that I mean how they view the covering. I would ask them how they would feel if you did, if anything I think they would be welcoming towards it from a perspective that it is more modest, but could also be negative if say, you drink whilst covering, however I know more than enough moderate Muslims that date, drink, and other things that would probably make an Imam cringe.
But it's your choice, do what you wish, good luck

@TheBusterFamily living in an Arab Muslim country, i usually see a lot of women wearing niqab in public places eating and drinking. the niqab they wear is a seperate piece. its like a small rectangular piece of fabric with a rubber band-like string connecting from 1 end to the other. so its just a flap infront of the face that can easily be pulled up a little. usually girls that wear niqab sit at corners in restaurants facing the wall, so that they feel more comfortable and can remove the niqab

I am curious about this video. I am a hijabi Muslimah myself but I know that while hijab is part of Islam and commanded by Allah, niqab is DEFINITELY NOT ISLAM, BUT MERELY A LOCAL CUSTOM. there is BIG difference between a HIJAB and a HEAD SCARF! Hijab is the Arabic term used to describe the attire worn by Muslim women. The literal meaning of Hijab is 'covering', but this term also carries a more general connotation of 'modesty'. Hijab as a social practise thus embraces not only clothing but also values and BEHAVIOR . so you my friend aren't wearing a real hijab! :)

Like you, I'm not muslim, but I like to wear hijab and other head scarves simply for warmth and to block the wind. I also really like that when I cover my hair, men don't look at me in a sexual way. I always worry that it's perhaps offensive or wrong for me to wear it, but I try to do so carefully.

@CanZu7 I don't think people should worry so much about others' perceptions. People who see women wearing hijabs or headscarves shouldn't judge them on that. If they are curious if the woman is Muslim, then they should ask or maybe just put it out of their mind because it's really none of their business. Anyone who judges the actions of one person as the actions of an entire religion is ignorant. Those people exist but they need to be educated when that arises.

I don't think non Muslim hijabis are going to wear them to clubs/getting drunk/etc. Maybe they'll be talking about things or eating things or behaving in ways that are non-Muslim, but I don't think the majority will know- which is in itself sad, since I believe more people should be educated about Islam...

I've read that to some Muslim women the hijab is almost symbolic of being Muslim- that it may be considered disrespectful to wear it because you do not share their faith. I really don't understand this claim... why wouldn't they want more women to cover up? Should non-muslims be immodest simply because they are Muslim? I like to wear a more Jewish-style cover I tie it behind my head & wrap it around like a bun- I'm Catholic- Peace :)

Maybe in todays time it is uncommon. However in Biblical times it was also considered a dishonorable thing for woman to go out in public without a head covering. Hebrew and Christians that is. All the Muslim's are doing is keeping that rule alive in their culture. When in fact we have abandoned it.
You know we are not in old testament times and laws but we are to follow new testament laws and as such we are supposed to veil and yet choose not to. So who is really wrong here.

@ToxicMonkies In the Torah women are prescribed the veil, though for different reasons. I know that religious Jews wear hijab but most wear wigs. I don't think Muslim women would be offended if you wear it. But some (Muslim) women with hijab dress ugly or dirty when outside their homes, or drink alcohol etc and that offends me.

I think it depends on your friend's beliefs, and by that I mean how they view the covering. I would ask them how they would feel if you did, if anything I think they would be welcoming towards it from a perspective that it is more modest, but could also be negative if say, you drink whilst covering, however I know more than enough moderate Muslims that date, drink, and other things that would probably make an Imam cringe.
But it's your choice, do what you wish, good luck

i'm a muslim wearing hijab n m proud to know there is sum1 out there likes 2 wear it though not a muslim. :) n i think i need to tell hijabis that we actly should wear hijab with d scarf that shows our eyebrows/our whole face. this is becuz it wud show dat we r confident. i usually c hijabis wearing hijab covering half of their eyebrows. i was one of them too until i read an article that wrote about how to look and act confident. i really suggest that you also wear hijab showing your whole face.

@TheBusterFamily living in an Arab Muslim country, i usually see a lot of women wearing niqab in public places eating and drinking. the niqab they wear is a seperate piece. its like a small rectangular piece of fabric with a rubber band-like string connecting from 1 end to the other. so its just a flap infront of the face that can easily be pulled up a little. usually girls that wear niqab sit at corners in restaurants facing the wall, so that they feel more comfortable and can remove the niqab

I am curious about this video. I am a hijabi Muslimah myself but I know that while hijab is part of Islam and commanded by Allah, niqab is DEFINITELY NOT ISLAM, BUT MERELY A LOCAL CUSTOM. Please check out the rulings of Sheik Tantawi of Egypt who said once and for all, that NIQAB IS NOT PART OF ISLAM BUT MERELY A CULTURAL THING. Otherwise I liike your video but let me ask you, why do you wear hijab if you are not Muslimah?

@puppetmaster124 I don't have a background in martial arts... but I do have backround in Law... and I've never heard of people being ALLOWED to go around hitting people with nunchucks; though people are allowed to go around telling people (ALOUD) that they can.

Yeah just like xxyelleaxx92 explained i cant be asked with ignorant people that just want to make a religion look bad, i just don't get what you will get out of it, to be honest its an individual thing on how we want to treat each other you have to earn respect, and Islam does encourage respect and peace and not terrorist so go ahead on your mission we all know you wont succeed M8.

I am muslim and not once in my life has my mum dad or any one of my family forget force not even told me to ever i had to wear a hijab so don't even bother to make Islam look bad if anything islam encourages and respecting one another so please dont even try it m8
