This was hella entertaining to watch! Imagine how GOOD the WWE would be if Owen was still alive. He was a magnific heel! But ahh well... as an old saying that holds true; good things don't last long.
You could tell he wasn't trying to but that promo made Owen a face and he wasn't even trying to be. I think he was trying to keep his heel character but failed cause of all the momentum Montreal had.
I heard that Bulldog and Anvil gave interviews saying that regardless of Montreal both men regretted going to WCW. Anvil admitted on WWE dvd and Bulldog probably did cause of what happened to his back. I'm sure they both went with Bret cause they thought they would keep the Hart Foundation together in WCW, instead Anvil and Bulldog were made jobbers, even Bret hated it. The only good thing that came out of it for them was the large amount of money they got from WCW.
I wonder how much of Owen's interview with Vince, not to mention his communicating with him, was scripted or real. I'm wondering if Owen broke character and really hold his own not to try and kill Vince for what happened at Survivor Series. I mean he did grab a hold of Vince's clothes, I'm surprised he didn't deck him and go to jail for assault and battery.
I never understood why Owen and HBK never had a high profile WWF Title Match. They could have easily had won at 1998 royal rumble instead of HBK. HHH could have interfered and that would have started their feud. It also would have saved HBK's back and he wouldn't have gotten injured at the event and had to retire at Wrestlemania 14
at this point, Owen had had every title except the World and European belts (he won the latter a month after this). It's a shame, with HBK's bruised ego, Owen's HUGE push got relegated to the f'n European title circuit which wasn't even as important as the Intercontinental title which he'd had twice prior. With Bret gone, Owen was certainly the best wrestling talent in the WWF, but that didn't matter to the big babies backstage
owen put in nine years to this point and never got the strap, guys now a days come in and win it within like their first month and are no where near as good as owen was. bullshit.

This was great, a side of Owen that was mean and agressive. Would have been great to see him in the world title picture after this. But I think we all know that Shawn Hickenbottom had a lot to do with that.

in my opinion, owen would've been a greater character as a loner. when he turned into the "black heart", it was pretty awesome. i would've loved to seen him as an anti-hero. THANKS A LOT VINCE FOR NEVER LETTING THAT HAPPEN. then you killed him....

This clip is a snapshot of the awesomeness of the late 90s. Jim Ross and Jim Cornette as commentators, the 'warzone' raw theme music, Vince taking part and really giving a shit about the product, edgey interesting characters, compelling shootstyle storylines and promos which get huge pops from the crowds. Why can't they make shows like this anymore? They need to fire Stephanie and bring in some writers who know what the fuck they're doing.

@RPOED1 Yeah, Bret spoke to Bischoff about bringing Owen to WCW too...but Bischoff wasn't willing to pay Owen as much as WWE was.. he didn't consider him a big enough name which was bullshit. To make matters more difficult, McMahon wasn't going to release him from his contract....Owen had the last laugh however when he got a pay rise after the WCW started taking all the talent... he was one of the top earners up until his passing.....god bless him

Owen was going to go to WCW after Bret spoke to Bischoff about it.... but Bischoff was not going to pay him the same as WWE was so it fell through... Owen tried to get out of the WWE contract but McMahon refused to oblige. Anyway where did you get the evidence to call me a liar.....?????

I heard that Bulldog and Anvil gave interviews saying that regardless of Montreal both men regretted going to WCW. Anvil admitted on WWE dvd and Bulldog probably did cause of what happened to his back. I'm sure they both went with Bret cause they thought they would keep the Hart Foundation together in WCW, instead Anvil and Bulldog were made jobbers, even Bret hated it. The only good thing that came out of it for them was the large amount of money they got from WCW.

I wonder how much of Owen's interview with Vince, not to mention his communicating with him, was scripted or real. I'm wondering if Owen broke character and really hold his own not to try and kill Vince for what happened at Survivor Series. I mean he did grab a hold of Vince's clothes, I'm surprised he didn't deck him and go to jail for assault and battery.

I never understood why Owen and HBK never had a high profile WWF Title Match. They could have easily had won at 1998 royal rumble instead of HBK. HHH could have interfered and that would have started their feud. It also would have saved HBK's back and he wouldn't have gotten injured at the event and had to retire at Wrestlemania 14

at this point, Owen had had every title except the World and European belts (he won the latter a month after this). It's a shame, with HBK's bruised ego, Owen's HUGE push got relegated to the f'n European title circuit which wasn't even as important as the Intercontinental title which he'd had twice prior. With Bret gone, Owen was certainly the best wrestling talent in the WWF, but that didn't matter to the big babies backstage

Hell, the best performers now in WWE are the ones who were around back then, and they're getting old and tiresome FAST. thanks for posting this mate. Haven't seen it since it first aired!
