#1 The GT-R is not attractive #2 when the car traction aids start doing everything 4 you it removes the joy of driving for any true' car enthusiast. This is why many prefer the Corvette ZR1 to the GT-R. Not that the Vette doesn't have traction aids itself but it requires a higher level of skill to drive it as fast as a GTR & that's where the joy is. I'd even prefer to drive a Audi R8 or Lexus FLA over the GT-R simply because they have more of a traditional sports car feel & are more attractive.

To go faster believe you'll need high end technology. Why do you think Ferrari isn't a regular gearbox anymore? A reason a super car is built is to achieve maximum performance and to do that, computers and advance transmissions will be the future. Compare the Z to cars in its range like the pony cars out of Detroit and you'll gain an appreciation for what Nissan has done and realize why the Z is the highest selling sports car of ALL TIME.

if you want to improve your driving, either

1. take the GT-R route and start with an auto tranny and slowly turn off all the nannies while learning the track

2. take the Z car route and learn shifting, rev-matching, heel-toeing, and turn off the nannies while learning the track

If you notice, you need to do more steps to attain perfection while driving a manual. But in MY and only MY opinion, its worth it.

Motorsports have taken to auto trannies to save time and they clearly serve the purpose.

There both over priced crap - going japanese with real car feel and shifting, with endless motor options - just get a 240sx and tune it not rice it. Fuck the Rice BS. I think a 2.4L turbo or LS series engine in a 240sx would kill both in price, over all performance and hell even looks - hahaha. My only complaint of the GT-R is it's BIG! I wish they shortened it a bit and narrow it a little. I always say that I'll trade my G35 coupe to a G37 X AWD coupe. Maybe I will, ..but thinking if I could purchase a used GT-R sometime, especially if they could go down to $40,000 (6-7 yrs. old) then I'm sold. How much do you think a 7 yr. old GT-R with 40K miles on it will cost?

A fast, safer (AWD) car wins! I know ECU tuning and FI, ..so modding a G37 X AWD coupe is also not a bad choice.

I have an auto G35 coupe RWD, though I've used it on 2 winter seasons already, it's not the best winter car. For practicality, I've seen GT-R's used as winter cars here in Ontario, Canada. Since the GT-Rs' AWD, they're best suited for winter driving.

Mod-wise, for me an AWD is best suited for high HP due to traction. RWD these days if you put 500 HP, you can't say that it will completely feel safe once you go fishtailing on a busy highway or street. Drifting is for track use not on street.

I own a 370z and I would take a GT-R any day. Personally i think comparing the two is kind of dumb. It is a different class of car. The r34 was comparable to the z33. However, the GT-R stepped up into a whole other class when it was designed. I mean really.
