I remember hearing this song live at the raves I went to back in 1996...her voice always put me in a trance. Brings back sooo many good memories and makes me want to bust out my box full of rave flyers and papers from back in the day :)
@molten333 It's a feeling of breathlessness.. Like the only thing in the world that matters at that exact moment, is that exact moment.. Like opening your eyes for the first time and seeing all the beauty in every thing and every one.. I know the feeling well..
I had the pleasure to see her live in New Orleans in 96. She was so magical. This recording doesn't do her justice. The stage had a sheer fabric behind her with the most beautiful sparkles. She had on a white angelic dress. And she played along with all her music on an amazing drum. I've gone to many parties in my life!! She is one that stood out and I remember ro this day.
oh yes.....back in my desert rave days 96-98...full moon parties. I think I have another version of this as well, where the vocals begin the track. I've seen it performed live like that as well. I remember her voice beginning to sing just as the sun peaked up at the horizon....DEEEEEUUUUSSSS.....some of my favorite rave memories. I have a pic of me with the singer somewhere. good times......
For some reason, I do not think a 303 was used in the making of this song. The 303 has a certain sound (the sawtooth osc. and filters on the 303 sound much "rounder" or "hollow" than in this song).
@stkthree03 very astute my friend. but the later 303's could adjust the waveform with a selector switch. but I do know that they used to use a groove sampler. so maybe it's just a sample from another synth.
electro muso s know best....dont think so....sounds kinda cold and empty 2 me....maybe if i neck a chemical it might reveal its hidden beauty.....sack that
I'm definitely in the minority here I think, but I think this, along with Omar Anoke's "It's A Good Day to Die," should be nominated for a Dove Award. Seriously.
I found out that "Psychobabble" released its songs on MP3 for free on the net around the years 1999-2004. "Inverted Forces" is one of them. I've heard their other songs, but I can't find inverted forces! You can view their website through the Archive's Wayback Machine... but the links won't work!!!
those were the days! Im keeping the hardware dream alive here in CO! now everyone is using software crap like FL Studio and cracked VSTi's. Nothing beats hardware.
I personally love the program...much more user friendly than Pro Tools, and some killer synths that will raise the hair on the back of your head, something about their sound engine just unmatched
i dunno. software's a pretty good sound. 8-bit's essentially software.
i'll agree that fl studio and vsti's will never sound as good as real hardware, but software has its own unique sound, just like hardware. it's really a matter of opinion.
i have the whole freaking collection of skychurch on vinyl will be posting soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! damm i saw them like more than a dozen times! in the desert raves back in the days!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes me as well and I hung out and meet them all back in 1997. Great band destroyed by Moonshines records breach of contract. The had another album ready to go but it will never be release.
