Yes. It is called the sarangi, a sort of Nepalese violin which shouldn't be mistaken with the Indian sarangi which has a different shape and sound. I am no musician but personally I find it to create the most beautiful and tragic wail of all instruments.
i am Ram Prasad Khanal a folk and dohori singer of nepal now in USA, i can help for your this project, if you need my help call me at 703-419-0924 or email me rampdkhanal@gmail.com
Wonderful!!!!! How can we arrange a showing of your film in our area? When will the film be available for sale to libraries and universities? Such gorgeous music and images. Thanks so much for sharing and for doing this work.
No doubt the music is beautiful but you guys failed to give credit to the original musicians. I have heard this music from my childhood. I appreciate your love towards Nepali music but don't be like a 17th century western explorer, who travel across the unknown land and claim the land for their government. Cite your work. Just putting some pictures and arranging the musical clips is not innovation.

This film looks great. I hope I get a chance to see it. Reminds me of the fiddle players here in Missouri. All the music in your trailer is excellent. Love the mixing of the two cultures.
Congrats on winning the Sierra Nevada Award from the Mountain Film Festival and Best Independent Documentary from the Carolina Film and Video Festival!
