  • Back in the good old days before Walkers ruined the snack. (Thankfully they've reverted back to the good old original Smiths recipe.)

  • lol this ad is awsome

  • everything seems to get smaller...and more expensive.

  • How long did they run this advert for? I can remember it and i was born in 1986.

  • Beefburger flavour, my favourite .... gone now :(

  • @ch0ddies the only people who make posts like yours are bitter old racists upset that they can no longer get away with treating others like dirt.

  • Packets aren't big enough any more.....

  • PENNIES can't!!!! blooody inflation!

  • Back in the days when there was tons of awesome adverts.

  • @RocketeerRaccoon

Cartoons were better back then aswell.

  • Brings back memories! I loved the roast beef flavour and the pickled onion one used to give me a sore tongue.

Red1967: not a joking matter. Grow up.

  • I remember these as a kid, the pickled onion flavour ones tasted almost the same as the cock of my uncle who used to baby sit me at the weekend. I still prefer Monster Munch though as they weren't as cheesy.

  • teehee. "haunted wood"

  • I so remember this add, can't remember last time Smiths have had an advertising campaign, haven't seen a monster munch or quavers add in a very long time

  • Who here had to take street drugs as a teenager in the nineties,in order to be able to come down from all the sweets that set them off tripping in the eighties as a kid?

  • Roast beef were my favourite, I used to get through loads of them. I've still got some monster munch reflectors that were on my BMX when I was a kid. Treacle or salad cream sarnies and a packet of RB monster munch, yum yum.

  • @Fandabbadozee They still sell them

  • A new earliest memory so it seems.

  • and does anyone remember prawn cocktail flavour??? they were lush!!!

  • For a start they used to have a lot more density to them, real bugger to bite through, proper monster munch. Also, what the hell happened to 'Saucy' flavour, that was awesome! you cant get it anywhere now in any kind of crisp, closest i've found it spicy space invaders, which are actually very similar if not the same texture as monstermunch used to be. I've hated walkers ever since they took over monstermucnh and wotsits. Tomato wotsits were fantastic too. BRING EM BACK! make a petition! Gaaah!

  • @GiddeonG They are meant to have "brought monster munch back" if you see the packs now it says they are like the old one's. TO me they seem so, the size is similar and the taste is similar. They also have the old monsters on the packet. Maybe the density is not exactly the same, but they are pretty thick.

Go and buy some, and look at the packet, it now says "OLD" monster munch

  • @ojideagu - Hello, do you know where I can get hold of the 'old monster munch'? I bought the Mighty Munch but wondering if they taste the same to the original monster munch. Any advise will be very appreciated. x

  • @ojideagu - Hello, do you know where I can get hold of the 'old monster munch'? I bought the Mighty Munch but wondering if they taste the same to the original monster munch. Any advise will be very appreciated. x

  • @bureauofsillyideas Hiya, well in the UK check any major supermarket. As far as I know ALL Monster Munch is now the "Old Monster Munch" Walkers have got rid of the "new" ones they used to sell. People told them to bring them back so they did! I'd say they are about 90% like the old! But only going by memory.

  • Monster munch is the greatest food available today. Eat them. And smash too its nice.

  • very excited when these came out - but never as horrifying as expected

  • hi does anyone know of a tv series(80's) from america, basically its about a gate in Egypt that a american family go through (not sure why or how) but they end up in a different dimension or something, where they are on a planet like earth, but different, for example a country or region where women rule and men are slave, trying to get back again, help ! p.s its not a cartoon

  • I can't believe that I know this advert word for word, voice over and sound effects. This is so weird considering i was born in 1984 and I havn't seen the advert since it was on T.V. • Have you noticed the ones that are out now are not only smaller, but the beef ones are the wrong shape. The foot shape was originally used for the pickled onion flavour, while the beef ones were represented by the long-necked monster shape. AND they used to cost about 7p - now pubs are charging 75p. Still, the beef ones taste great with a pickled egg in with them. Go on, try it.

  • don't think they bought back sizzling bacon flavour sadly, smoked bacon chipsticks that came in a newspaper packet were the best

  • This is quite scary - the ending is really spooky...oooooh! Wonderful memories though - thanks for this!

  • Brilliant! I'm glad this was recommended for me; even though I don't like the taste of Monster Munch quite as much as I used to.

  • I remember being a kid and thinking this advert was pretty scary with the real ghost at the end.

Made me so happy to see it again :-)

  • So good to see the old skool packets back, especially the beef flavour!!!! Problem is, they don't have as much flavour as the old ones used to, prob cause they ain't allowed due to salt content or something.

  • Does anyone remeber Bovril flavoured crisp? The best crisp ever.

  • The Walkers Marmite is so similar it will do!

  • I missed Pickled Onion monster munch when I lived in New Zealand

  • Can't buy them in Sweden or the Philippines either.

  • im out here now and i miss them to..when i get back to the uk i fill my suitcase up with them..sad i know!

  • What was the original flavors I remember Pickled Onion and Roast Beef flavors, what was the other one? No Flaming Hot in those days!

  • I want to say it was Tomato Ketchup flavour.

  • It was 'saucy' flavour. What the fuck is 'saucy' flavour?

  • There was a smokey bacon at one point. I think the shapes for that one were spider webs.

  • 0:16 = boner

  • haha =]

  • Ha Ha Ha, nice one!

  • I adored the Roast beef monster, the pink one, he looked so sweet!

  • glad to see them back,,tastes just same from early 80,s

  • Yes they do! They're great! Damn, forgot to get some from tescos!

  • No way is this 1986, I was born in 1984 and I remember this as a kid clearly!

  • Actually, it is. Maybe they were repeated.

  • Dude, these were the kings of crips back in the day! Nice way how to think back to my childhood, can't believe I still remember this ad!

  • What flavour were the ones with the yellow monster? I've been trying to find out for years.

I remember I used to have a set of weird monster munch badges, yellow, blue, orange and pink ones. They were like a normal metal badges with a massive monster stuck on the front. I think they were from collecting Monster Munch tokens or something

  • I think the flavours were:

    Pink: Beef

    Blue: Spaghetti sauce

    Orange: Pickled onion

    Yellow: Cheese

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm beef monster munch

  • Glad MM is back! Bring back STORY TELLER! Magazine & cassette collection from the 80's!

  • Me too.

The new style packaging MM with smaller portions/pieces and crapper art suck.

  • i heard they have bought back the retro style packaging.....their in stores now!!! lol

  • Since walkers bought Monster munch, like all the others, they have fucking ruined them! You could once smell a packet of pickled onion monster munch/scampi lemon nicknacks being opened from 30 feet away. Not anymore!

Walkers have destroyed crisps by starving them from flavour and, I for one, will not buy any crisp with Walkers name on them.

If you want STRONG flavour crisps, buy SEABROOK crisps. They are crinkled cut and are very strong in flavour! They are sold individual packets in tesco

  • I used to have the pink monster glove puppet!

    Damn,wish I'd kept it, I bet it's worth a bomb on E-bay now!

  • I was only four years old in 1986, but remember everything about that advert now. It shows the power of advertising on children, even in the 80s

  • Bring back Golden Cup (in ALL sizes, please, thankyou). How good were Golden Cups ? My fave, by far .

BRING BACK GOLDEN CUPS, YA FANNIES !

  • Oh my god, I've been waiting for Roast Beef monster munch for years now .. they were the best! I'm going to hunt a packet or 2 down tomorrow :)

  • Yeah They dumped that yellow monster from the front didn't they?

They've got that flaming hot flavour that tastes a bit like roast beef, unfortunately it also smells of spunk as well.

  • i wish monster munch where as big now as they was back then.. or maybe its just where my mouth has grown bigger???

  • i just read in the paper that they were bringing these ads back so i had to check out the original one its fab i remember when they gave away the clips to put on the spokes of ur bike me and my sis had loads of them think i still have them somewhere i love pickled onion the best

  • OMG Pickled Onion flavour monster munch - I could eat them till the cows came home. Are they still around??

  • yes & they are awesome!

  • Bosses at the snack food firm have spent months searching warehouses trying to track down the furry suits last seen 25 years ago.

Monster Munch manager Dominic South said: Were desperate to locate our furry brand icons. We need these characters urgently for an ad campaign.

  • CRISP giants Walkers have offered a £5,000 reward for the return of the Monster Munch costumes — to relaunch the classic ad campaign.
