Makena became bankrupt due to the recession as less and less people were purchasing Therebucks (Game Currency) which resulted in Makena not making money. Therefore they could not afford to keep running the game.

Virtual worlds are one of the most awesome things created for computers these days. Although Linden's SL grid is full of junk, the SL platform and system is a splendid system which will get far when open servers will be more stable.
