  • it is better to have a nice and beautiful dream than a harsh reality. Cypher just so humane for me

  • stake: the best freaking masterpiece... makes me hungry

  • Cypher = ralphie from sopranos!

  • Someday, I will know what kind of steak that is. It looks so delicious. I'm so jealous of that actor.

  • if he doesn't remember than they can just flush him and forget about him?

  • as most people won't dance to music containing serious themes.

  • "Ignorance is bliss" is basically what my parents and almost all my teachers always tell me. To name it, they would denounce anyone's dream to raise awareness in people about injustice in their works (as well as fight it) as childish and impractical, and they would tell us to be "realistic" -- to submit ourselves to the companies who are only concerned of "profit-making" by pleasing their target audiences in order to make money and survive as artists

  • @RaidenWarriors "ignorance is bliss" is a misquote. The quote is "where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise." from Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College - as you can see, it leaves open the possibility that ignorance may not be bliss.

  • I'm so disappointed with this world. I wanted to be plugged back in as well...

  • that's the only real use for the Matrix. An endless supply of steak for everyone without ever actually have to cook steak.

  • If you believe something long enough it becomes real to you at least....

  • i'm eating a steak right now and the matrix is telling me that it is juicy and delicious. Ignorance is bliss

  • If he didn't wanna remember nothing, how was he gonna remember that Smith was gonna make him rich? I smell loophole :D

  • @lildrift559 True. :D Either way, I always thought Smith would just kill him once he got Morpheus.

  • @lildrift559

He didn't have to, he didn't want to remember anything about the Matrix or his past life, he just wanted to be re-inserted with a load of cash and fame. A new life if you will.

  • @MrNykatawa But if he's not gonna remember that Smith was suppose to make him rich, Smith could promise him the world for all he cares and then double cross him as soon as they plug Cypher back into the Matrix.

  • @lildrift559 I believe that was Smiths plan all along anyway. It was suspected (and later confirmed in The Matrix Online) that re-insertion was impossible, which only makes this scene even more calculating in regards to Smith. I imagine that after Cypher had done what he was asked he would jack-in to ask Smith about preparations etc and probably would have been killed on the spot, either that or Sentinels would be sent to kill him.

  • @lildrift559

I don't think the machines have much of a concept of deceit, as humans do. It would be pride and hatred that to my knowledge the machines do not possess.

  • @pboisei "Will you keep your promise?" (The Oracle)

"What do you think I am? Human?" (The Architect)

Last scene from The Matrix Revolution

  • how did he get a meeting with Agent Smith without the squad knowing?

  • I always like to watch this scene while i'm eating ^^

  • Ignorance is bliss... Its valid for every time.

  • I woke up to the Real Matrix, we live in - the Illuminati, the heartbreak this led me to know I couldn't have foreseen. He who seeks the absolute truth will merely get closer to absolute pain, isolation, and absolute heartbreak...THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE - BUT FIRST IT'S GOING TO PISS YOU OFF, A LOT!!! ps this led me to jesus/christianity...the deeper in the rabbit hole you go the more difficult it gets...illuminati, satan worshippers, run the world..hate jesus/christianity. Enemy of my enemy

  • Watch this scene whenever you eat steak, and watch the scene from Pulp Fiction whenever you eat hamburgers.

  • Lucypher

  • I like how he wants to be an actor even though actors are rich and not necessarily important.

  • this is like something out of Faust or Dr Faustus

  • just reading comments and i dont understand the need for people to be so prolix all the time

  • He made so hungry when i first seen this...

  • I want to be someone important... like an actor. And there it is, a whole generation was NLP [neuro-linguistically programmed] to believe so.

  • @daniluchison - there's many levels to this, actors have agents to get them work...

  • The Matrix move conveys basic concepts present in Buddhism and Christian ism...

    See for yourself:

Neo is the Savior, a resurrected Messiah by Trinity (the name!), who is the 'Virgin Woman', the Architect is God, The Merovingian is the Devil, the Agents are Demons and Cypher is... any guess? WHO SOLD THE MESSIAH? JUDAS! THE BETRAYER.

  • "Ignorance is bliss", the best sentence in the entire movie, just brilliant, and the harp in the background just exquisite.

  • I want to eat that big ass piece of steak. I vey he asked mr smith to treat him out to that place.

  • Cypher was the only human on that crew. The rest of them belong in a church.

  • I want some steak now.

  • Brilliant scene, shows how humanity is wilfully ignorant on so many levels.

It also shows that steak is great food

  • "like an actor"

We are living in the matrix?

  • I like my steak rare because of Cypher. Thank you Cypher.

  • I like the part where he eats the steak.

  • I want to eat that steak so baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!

  • Cypher is a cinematic represantation of Judas. Willingly accepts ignorance of truth for worldly desires.

  • Why'd he eat my pepperoni?

  • Oh wait.... no shit he would've already, he IS supposed to kill all humans thats right..... lol

  • @rockfan363

Not exactly. Smith at this point only kills threats to the Matrix, ie, humans who have become aware and hostile. IMO Smith would have honored the agreement unless there was an overriding protocol he had to obey. The Architect and his agents appear to behave lawful neutral in these matters, though it's definitely a case of be careful what you wish for...

  • Anyone think that Smith would've killed Cypher anyway? Like after if Cypher succeeded in his job?

  • @rockfan363

yep cypher is just a tool

  • This scene makes me hungry for steak... and I'm vegetarian!

  • @LordVader89

    lol funny

  • Everytime I see this scene I wish I was eating a juicy and delicious steak.

  • When I watched this scene a few days ago, one thing struck me: if cypher says he wants to remember absolutely nothing, then how does he know that the agents will have given him what he wanted, like when he said he wanted to be a rich, important person in the matrix. The agents could have had him sell out his friends, and totally buttfucked him by making him a homeless man or something, and cypher would have never known he had been had!

  • @SAOrules It's been years since I've seen the movie, but didn't they eventually state that they had no intention of honoring their end of the bargain anyway?

  • @FatherHeathen Well when I had watched this scene, I was thinking that they were going to honor their bargains, I was just commenting on the bad phrasing of cypher stating what he wanted. By the way, I didn't see the whole movie at the time either.

  • This is Charlie Veitch, having a job interview.

  • wait all my life is a computer program :[ sucks i gain weight though :[

  • Shieet... I keep seeing the number 111 everywhere. Even the length of this video is 1:11.

  • @ReefFrog - if you label English alphabet A to Z with numbers 1 - 26, and add up the words icosahedron, computer, and illusion they each add up to 111, which is interesting cause they all relate to water & reflections in various ways do those words.

  • Cypher = Charlie Vietch

  • @tjxkid

Couldn't have said it better myself. Especially the line. Ignorance is bliss.

  • @tjxkid What makes you say that about Charlie Vietch?

  • @tjxkid Fucking wrong.

    Cypher = Joe Pantoliano

Same guy who played Teddy in the film ''Memento''.

  • @Rayman4321

lol...dude...u didnt get what i meant did u....

  • @Rayman4321 - well this is ineresting, i appear to have moved into a parallel universe where sam rockwell isn't the actor that played cypher anymore, and the weirder part being - when i found out he was, many years ago, it never seemed right.

  • @tjxkid No, I didn't.

What could you possibly mean by that?

  • (0:10-0:22) "Got that, audience?"

  • Obviously, Cypher is a Democrat.

  • @snuffy188 Ha ha! Agreed dude!

  • @snuffy188 Would that make the agents the republicans?

  • That's me every time I go to Outback Steak House

  • Why didn't Agent Smith have anything?

  • And those are people who call themselves truth seekers lol.... More like selective truth seekers...

  • This is the perfect analogy for people who double speak, like you tell them nations don't exist, it's all big business, and they pretend to get what your saying because they know your right when u tell them this and they know your smart enuf 2 back it up with proof, but then they cling to the bible and flag or some shit anyhow b/c its what they wanna believe regardless... Or people who say they don't believe in religion but they believe in the bible, or jebus or something.

  • "Ignorance is Bliss" (Or: How To Use In A Great Way A Great Quote By The Great Orwell).

  • Ignorance is bliss... best scene of the movie. All Morpheus' speech is nothing but bullshit.

  • mmm steak

  • good phrase

  • when christopher and tony disposed of ralph's body he got put into the matrix.

  • In the film we see Morpheus's crew eating some porridge like goop that they appear to be sick off, then we see they have the ability to load their own matrix simulations with whatever they want, why did they never load up a dinner simulation? If not for actual sustenance then at least for recreation.

  • @xhaze8

Good question. They could eat the real food first, then for afters, jack in for pizza! ;-)

  • I get the real strong impression that Agent's don't need to eat like humans do.

  • @linkfan160 Would you feed your computer? xD

  • @Ikesgurl123 Nope xD

  • Good scene.

Such a shame the abysmal two sequals had nothing like this. Instead they focused on introducing a lot of pointless vampire and werewolf programs. Some ghosts or whatever they were. A program cheating on his program wife and she needs to sample a kiss? WTF??

  • @McLarenMercedes yah i guess...except for Neos conversation with the architect. that was the most intriguing sceen in the series to me...

  • @McLarenMercedes ....What movies were you watching? I mean, yeah. I love this scene, and I agree the second and third movies weren't nearly as good, but there were absolutely no vampire or shit in them. Just a group of programs disguised as rich people and/or bodyguards.

  • @Mac1634

Matrix Reloaded. Persephone or whatever she was called talked about some "old programs" from a former version of the Matrix, which humans believed were vampires, werewolves, ghosts and such. It is implied they gave rise to those myths. A few of those mute programs seemed to have vampire fangs sloppily hidden in their mouths. How to kill them? Yep, you need a silver bullet (which kills werewolves) in a gun, as Persephone demonstrates. Stupid.

    Those twins were clearly "ghosts".

  • @Mac1634

They should have sticked with the agents, who seemingly all were cold and emotionless. That worked. Introducing a lot of all too human like programs with petty emotions and desires was ridiculous. Worse, all those ghosts (the bodyguard twins), vampires (those fools that worked for annoyed-French-guy-program) and whatever killed the whole movie.

They vampires didn't suck blood. But they sure as hell had fangs and VERY vampire like appearances. Probably sucked blood offscreen.

  • @McLarenMercedes i loved every single movie, i loved the introduction of more characters, i DID LIKE the merovingian, and persephone, i loved every instant of every movie, but, then again, this is YOUR opinion and i will let it untouched.

    peace

  • Nicely put harp melody here!

  • One of the best scenes in the movie, sums up everything

  • @MasterR73

Not everything. Think on this. Who was Cypher's operator?

  • @Xerock I always wondered that.

  • @Ankhrae

listen to the opening dialogue between Cypher and Trinity. I think Trinity was Cypher's operator.

  • @Xerock I think at the opening, it's the other way around, Cypher was Trinity's operator.

That wouldn't explain this scene. They would be able to see that he was sat with an agent. You can't just plug yourself into the Matrix and then unplug yourself, you need an operator. That operator will always be able to see what you're doing and that includes striking dirty deals with the devil.

  • @Ankhrae

No. I'm saying Trinity was in on Cypher's plan.

  • @Xerock ...cause that makes sense.

  • @Ankhrae

Yes it does. It explains the opening dialogue when Cypher says "we're going to kill him". It explains all the uncomfortable glances between Trinity and Cypher. It explains It explains what Trinity was so afraid of when she admitted she was n love with Neo. It explains why Trinity wouldn't let Neo go back for Morpheus. Its how Trinity knew Cypher had killed Tank and Dozer over the phone.

  • @Xerock Interesting speculation. Never thought of it that way.

  • @Xerock

    They probably took turns.

  • And in the end the actor Ronald Reagan remembered nothing due to Alzheimer's.

  • The steak is a lie!

  • @penguinmaster825

    Yes but a tasty lie.

  • I remember watching this and thinking: "Wow that steak looks goooood" xD

  • Damn...the meat looks good. Gotta get some.

  • he puts a different piece of steak in his mouth than what he held up on the fork

  • @DXkurtangle133 You have a good eye. I noticed it after you pointed it out.

  • I have a question : How did Cypher got to speak with Smith IN THE MATRIX without anyone knowing it. Isn't he supposed to be "sent" there by an operator.

Cypher was like : "Hey my man, yeah you. Could you..hum...send me in the matrix? I d'like to go shopping...and do some personal stuff".

  • @CaptainUptown It didn't have to be carried out all of a sudden, it probably took some time. Maybe he started by leaving messages for the agents as he was in the Matrix with the others (he does that later when leaves a cell phone in the trash can). Also, remember in the beginning that he leaves a tip for the agents to find Trinity (and one comments that the source was trustworthy). Later he could have waited for a late shift and then uploaded himself. Anyway, it is not that difficult.

  • @CaptainUptown that has always been my question

  • @CaptainUptown

It could be that the operator can only keep track at one person when there in the matrix, and like telephones there are always dead zones so it could be that Cypher in a part of the matrix that no one can see him.

  • @CaptainUptown It's easy..at midnight (when the rest were sleeping) he entered the matrix, spoke with Smith and ate the fake steak... To disconnect himself from the matrix he didn't need help of any mate of the tripulation, because he already had Smith's help to disconnect him whenever he wants...They use telephones because they're a pirate signal...but in this case, the reject was directly by matrix itself... Simple

  • @CaptainUptown plot hole! ahhhhhh

  • @CaptainUptown

No one knows for sure how he did it, but a few scenes previous when Neo comes in and startles Cypher (when they share the drink), he was setting up the meeting with Smith in the Matrix. It's likely he also set some sort of timer/program to make the call to jack out once the meeting was done.

  • @CRAKIZGOOD That's probably how it happend. I remember the scene when Neo scares Cypher. It seems like Cypher was doing something shady. And also, during that scene, Neo asks Cypher if what they see on the screen is the Matrix, it tells Cypher that Neo couldn't have any clue of what Cypher was really doing since Neo was incapable of "reading" the code.

But still, I have this image in my mind where someone just walks by, and sees Cypher plugged in, and no one else around. Hahaha.

  • @CaptainUptown That's a damn good question haha XD

  • @CaptainUptown He probably set a program up to let him in once he plugged in. The thing that interests me the most is HOW THE HELL DID HE GET OUT?

  • @CaptainUptown

Always wondered myself. One poster's idea of Cypher programing a jack in has merit, but it's speculation. Fact is to the best of my knowledge the source material doesn't address it, making it a plot hole. I didn't catch this until the third re-watching of the series...

  • That is.. the most cinematographic piece of steak ever.

  • Amazingly good scene by these guys.

  • I fucking love agent smith.

  • Fuck this. enlightenment is overrated. Learning about the truth of the world is depressing...I want the blue pill!

  • I don't want to remember. Nothing. NOTHING.

That's what he's thinking. Just comes out wrong.

I should know this happened before I entered this life.

  • This is what I think when I eat my oatmeal in the mornings.

    Mmmmm.

  • "i know when i put it in my mouth, the matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious" thats what she said.

  • Besides codes, programs, matrices, and all this other Zion shit, i wanna know, how the hell do you play a harp?

  • Since seeing this scene ~10 years ago, every time I eat a steak, I hold it up, and role-play as Cipher. Ignorance is bliss :)

  • Argh I want some steak now. Juicy, and delicious.

  • not like this..

  • Its how you spend it !!!

  • I wanna eat steak after this.

  • 4 people's sorry hides did not get their steak.

  • I love Cypher, such a slimy bastard. He also has some of the best lines in the movie...

Cypher- "If he had told us the truth, we would have told you to shove that red pill right up your ass!" XD

  • Damn that steak looks good.

  • mr. reagan wants to be someone importatn, like an actor? okay, president reagan!

  • IGNORANCE is BLISS...

  • @AZ09astrophysicist Wat does it maen!? o.O

  • @vatiz93 Im not AZ09astrophysicist but, if you don't know something it can't hurt you. if cypher went back into the matrix with no knowledge of its true nature how do you think he'd feel?

  • Knowing the truth is dangerous. Certain knowledge is too much for some to handle. Knowing righteous, can either lead you to liberated madness or blissful conformity. When the time comes, which pill will you choose? Remember, there's a difference between knowing the path........ and walking it.

  • One question: How did Cypher connect himself to the Matrix without Tank's help??

  • damn, I want some steak..

  • I wonder what kind of cut that is

  • @redetrigan my guess: porterhouse, medium rare, 15 oz. tender cut. Definitely saliva-inducing.

  • LOOLLLL why wasnt smith drinking anything if u look where hes sitting theres no plate or drink infront of him i know hes a program but still wud be unrealistic going into a Restaurant and not eating anything wud be funny if tank woke up and saw him eating in the matrix next too smith

  • Pretty chains, gilded cage, or freedom that's sometimes cold, dirty and ugly? You get to decide every day. How do your local government and police treat you and your fellow citizens? How much are you willing to allow to be done to people with whom you DISAGREE? Don't go back to your pod like your awakening never happened. When you're no longer producing anything that the machine needs, including silent consent... FLUSH.

  • Joe Pantaliano, an Italian-American actor from New York City or New Jersey (he also starred on "The Sopranos") would certainly use the lower-class urban double negative to reinforce the thug characterization. "Mr. Reagan"? Somebody important. An actor. If the Matrix can create an entire reality, including false memories, why not provide the universal illusion that Cypher is former gov. of Ca., then president and has already served a term and been re-elected? As simple as digital steak.

  • so whatever happens to Cypher?

  • @Wolfsbane909

Lets just say he doesn't make it into the next film. But his philosophy does...at least in the matrix game.

  • HA! Never caught that before. Smart!

  • Hey, I always wondered, Cypher wasn't alone on this job, how could he connect to the matrix without help?..I'd say the conspiracy was far bigger than we thought.

  • the face agent smith makes is priceless..he goes from being so serious to kinda "whatever" attitude lol

  • WHY DOES CHICKEN TASTE LIKE EVRYTHING?!!!

  • @mannshaia no...Everything tastes like chicken

  • if you properly listen to this scene it is the biggest mind fuck ! i still havent made heads or tales of it to this day :L such genius went into the writing of this film.

  • @JoshBoyy1 The Matrix simulates sensory input. The steak he's eating doesn't really exist, it's a simulation, the Matrix is simply tricking his brain into believing he's tasting steak. Take a psychology class that discusses sensation and perception ;)

  • @sugarnspike613 after all these years :L thank you :)

  • @JoshBoyy1 No problem, glad I could help

  • @sugarnspike613 Yep isn't it crazy how much philosophy is in this movie? I remember seeing this movie as a kid and thinking "COOL" and now as I'm in college I'm like "dang this movie was crazy smart".

  • @Mustdang I said psychology, actually. But yes, there is quite a bit of philosophy as well! I feel exactly the same, although my reaction as a kid was actually to run and hide xD The scene where Neo wakes up in the pod scared the shit out of me....I still hate the stupid squids to this day

  • @sugarnspike613 Oh I know lol but I was saying philosophy too :P OH same here...I HATED when he pulled all the plugs out of himself on that part...it was disgusting....

  • This scene made me hungry.

  • Ironically, the guy playing as Cypher IS an actor... in this film of course. We could be living in the Matrix and the actor playing Cypher in real life made a deal with an agent...

  • @antsmasherjack that's true, I think Pantoliano knows some shit we don't

  • How is this not a rebuttal to Feynman?

  • If really was a douchebag liek a Smith to Smith, he would have quoted Cypher verbadum when he said "I don't want to remember nothing", so he would remeber everything either turn insane, attempt to rebel again, in which the either the Agents or his former team would kill him if they were still alive.

  • I love that steak

  • He said Raymond, Mr. R-A-Y-M-O-N-D Usher.

  • "Whatever you want, Mr. Reagan." he said, it's written in the movie script.

  • Smith didn't say Reagan or Regan or Ragoon he said Mr. Ray-Gun.

  • message

  • ignorance is bliss (message0

  • "I dont want to remember nothing"...so he wants to remember everything?

  • @AppleAssassin no hes just a lowly educated moron or rather play one if you refer to the actor himself

  • @AppleAssassin

    didnt get it at first
