Bullshit, moron. If 30% of workers want a secret ballot, they get a secret ballot under the EFCA. The employer doesn't give a shit whether a ballot is secret or not. He likes secret ballots only because they allow him one or two months time to intimidate workers, fire activists, and infect the workplace with anti-union propaganda.
Why the fuck do you even shoot your mouth off about this? What's in it for you? You ain't rich. You're a sell-out ass kisser of the rich.
Why are business men so freaked out, if they are paying a living wage and are treating their workers with respect the workers will pass on the union anyway? Why are they so scared?
If this was really to help workers, they would start with a secret ballot to begin with. These people are complaining because they get intimidated from employers. The EFCA won't change that.
If signing a card to get in is to great - then why not allow those wanting out just to sign a card??? Unions are a roach motel - easy to get in - impossible to get out.
It is not "Employee Free CHoice" - it is the "Union Boss Free Intimidation and Forced Dues Act".
Unions sure provided great job security for the auto industry, airlines, and others. Aren't the union pension funds now underfunded? Aren't they cutting benefits? Aren't they laying off their employees? What mis-representation.
You want people to gain benefits of a Union but, not be a part of them? LMAO
Our pension fund is in great shape (80% funded) Nothing has been cut as a result. Wouldn't it have been great if the Republicans got their way and privatized social security? We'd be bailing that out too! Our Union won't be needing tax dollars to retire, unlike the vast majority of those who solely rely on 401k programs.
If it was up to be, all unions would be outlawed, declared to be terrorist groups, then hammered with both RICO and the Patriot Act. Their assets and property would be seized, their members and supporters would be executed or sent to Gitmo to do butt pyramids with their mudscum butt buddies.
The main thing this act does is take away your right to a secret ballot.
Why? Simple.
If the ballot is secret, unions don't know whose house to torch, whose tires to slash, when the vote doesn't go their way.
It's not like this hasn't happened before, folks. Union bosses are going to get rich if this thing passes, and so will their political allies and their bag men.
Workers? They'll do fine, of course, until the plant closes down. Then they'll be worse off than before.
A monopoly is only fair when used to fight another monopoly.
In mill-towns of the 1930's, "the company" was sole employer. So a union labor monopoly helped simulate a "sole employee."
But nowadays NO ONE lives in towns where there's only one employer within commute distance.
So jobs *compete* for workers: They're not a monopoly.
Unions just want to be the gatekeeper, the labor "broker." They'll get rich doing it; but workers will be no better off...especially if their employer goes under.
If you are in a "at will" or "right to work state" your boss can fire you for "any reason or no reason" I know I was fired for cussing while shopping in the walmart I worked in. If you are in a union you are a protected class and these at will laws don't effect you.Wal-Mart can't have it both ways..We need rights to
I'm in a union (a white collar job) and I work my ass off. Another person I work with sits and listens to the radio all day and hardly does anything; I often have to show her what to do. The boss is a pansy and afraid to ask her to do anything.
If layoffs come around with an economic downturn, I will be first canned and the radio listener will keep their job.
How is this kind of crap "good for America?" It only seems good for the lazy people to me!
your job sounds like my job, but i'm not union. in fact, every job i have EVER had has been filled with lazy people, and NONE of them were union. people slacking off has nothing to do with the question of unions.
I have sated non-union companies many of times. When caught and was fired. The company was sued and I made a shit load of money sitting on my ass. As these union members did when they salted non-union companies.
Look I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't believe in unions. I think the folks that organize unions are like cockroaches. They feed off the week. To look at your argument the folks you refer to as supermarket employees, they are not over achievers. If those folks had any sence they would know they could file a grivence with the local labor board,at not extra cost, which is what a union would like.Unions take hard working folks money and bribe public officals. So they can get more money. Its a scam
The government already has agencies to do what unions were formed to do. Now aday they just take money from the everyday worker. They make lazy folks lazier. Then turn good workers into shitting ones. Because no matter what everyone gets a raise regardless of performance. This will inevitably cripple our economy. God help us all.
Cripple, you obviously haven't a clue. Take a look at the New york Times who today had an article of a local supermarket who was only paying it's employees $300 for 70 hours work, it took since 2004 for the authorities to bring the owners to justice. Thats right without a union they treated their workers like slaves. If there was a union in the store that wouldn't have happened. Unions are now more necessary than ever.
Except the Gov has installed anti-worker management into the NLRB. Since you don't know too much, that's the National Labor Relations Board. Bush's picks have done things such as calling regular workers "managers" to avoid hourly benifits. Those include earning overtime for over 40 hours of work. Imagine being a "manager" earning $8 a hour for 40 hours but being required to work 60 hours..... That is why we need Unions, you know the people who brought you the weekend.
EFCA= Civil Rights. Period!
