@surleyguru I his defence, there is a well documented history for the creation of pitbulls in the UK, maybe he just read it. their breeding, purpose and export to the USA with dogs such as Lloys Pilot etc. May be a good option for you too!

Pits were created by fights. Until that crap in the late 70s brought the breed to national attention the dogfighting "epidemic" was really quite small. The old school fighters made my favorite breed & I will never deny their history

I agree with you,i have a 1 year old blue nose pitbull,and shes the best dog ever shes soo smart shes soo athletic,shes never attacked any dog or human,and we have a 5 year old in our home.she plays well,shes a lil strong 4 her own good and can be a pain when we walk her cuz she pulls alot,but besides that shes wonderful.shes my work out buddy,we go running every morning at our park and she loves the exercise,she can play basketball and football especially soccer.i swear!!
Ya its from a Dvd i got called "off the chain" its a really good movie. but it gots some stuff in it thats very hard to watch. But i thought this was a good part of it. So i cut it out of the movie so other people could see it :)
Great video! I have a bull mastif,not a pit bull, but looking to buy a pitbull! Bull mastifs are made out to be "Huge maulers" since mine weighs 150. But it NEVER mauled anyone, it even saved me from the neighbour's dog! If a dog has the name "Bull" in it, its sold. :P Pit bull, then ill buy an all american bull dog.

I saw one guy walking one a while back ago. and asked him where he got. and he drove like 100 mils out of town to some guy who breeds them. He offered to give me the guys email address too see if he had any new pups for sale. But i told him it was too far for me to go. Im happy tho. cuz since i did not have a dog. i was able to save bear from a bad home.
well,it's mainly the first part of the video w/ the history of fighting and the origins of the breed.the man speaking makes it seem as if the apbt has been around since the start of bullbaiting and even has something to do w/ the invention of fighting two dogs.not so.the two came long before the pitbull.the breed was known as the half and half(half bulldog,half terrier)and the dog s they descend from no longer exist anywhere.
the dogs today are descended from those dogs.the dogs bullbaiting and dog fighting were not all bull and terriers, the bull and tierriers were just the best for these "sports", and so were bred to be the dogs we know today.some of the photos in the video are"colby dogs". check out colby kennels website,they have great documentation on thier dogs and some cool photos too.follow the links to find a good book.you also might want to try the pitbull gasette? it is a quarterly magazine on the apbt.
they are fom england/ireland but were not known ,or breed as,as the apbt until the 1900's in the united states.some of what he said about bullbaiting is inaccurate also. yes it was brutal, but i believe the it was a co opraitive between dog and handler to subdue the bull or hog,not just dogs killing a bull outright for entertainment.but he is right,this most likely did happen.poeple still use "game dogs" to hunt bore using these tecniques.hope i could help.talk to you soon.
