Right now, this was doing the '78 world tour. it was during the world cup and the were back in scotland. so hence the footy shirts and that fab little ditty 'fling thing'. now back in the fifties there were a lot of folks emergrating to oz. the families YOUNG and SCOTT were among them, SO, they were born in scotland and went to OZ when they young kids. so now whenever ac/dc play in Glasgow they always play 'fling thing' or 'bonny' as it's also called.
@Riff28Raff because when you call them "scots born australians" that technically means that they were born in australia to scottish parents. I know what you meant though
@Riff28Raff they are most definately an australian band, but you say in there that they are "scots born australian" they were actually born in scotland and moved here when they were younger. but all in all they are an australian band and even bon scott acknowledged that
i am going to sort out this debate about them being scotts or aussies its simple when u think about it....malcom angus and bon are scottish...cliff and brian are english phil is aussie....but they are an australian band they formed in australia released a few albums in australia b4 they were international so there u go
who cares if they are Scottish or Australian guys and gals?
Born and Bred scotts that migrated to Aus, and ended up becoming the greatest band on earth, lets just enjoy AC/DC's rendition of a fantastic Scottish folk tune and get on with our lives.
It astounds me that people are still debating on what nationality the band is. They are Scottish FULL STOP. And does it really matter? This is fucking brilliant and makes me proud to be Scottish! RIP Bon
Brian Johnson & Cliff Williams are both English. The only current member who's Australian is Phil Rudd. One Australian member does not make an Australian band, in my humble opinion.
No you wouldn't! Anyway, Angus was 8 years old when he moved to Australia. That's more than enough time to set your roots down. Angus is Scottish as is Malcolm & as was Bon.
they are angus and Malcolm are australian but they were raised in scotland to the age of 10 then they went back to Australia and bon scott was born in cuirimuir scotland and the rest of the band are Australian
Thanks for the history lesson but as I first saw AC/DC live in 1979, I think I'm qualified to make valid comments. Bon, Angus & malcolm were born in Scotland to Scottish parents. That makes them SCOTTISH!
That will be banks of loch lomond Mr young not shore! O youll tak the high road and Ill tak the low road And Ill be in Scotland afore ye For me and my true love will ne-er meet again On the bonnie, bonnie banks o Loch Lomond.
no its not its the first concert they played with a wireless guitar and amp and some people told him he was miming so he said "go on hit that then" and it made a noise

You're right but four of them lived in Australia when they formed ACDC. That's why they are an Australian band.
damolitioncrew 2 years ago
So if I moved to China with 2 mates who are English, 2 who are Scottish & 1 who's American, we'd be a Chinese band? I don't think so matey!

It always amazes me why people refer to AC/Dc as an Australian band. Cliff & Brian are English, Bon, Angus & malcolm are/were Scottish.

they are angus and Malcolm are australian but they were raised in scotland to the age of 10 then they went back to Australia and bon scott was born in cuirimuir scotland and the rest of the band are Australian

No no, Angus and Malcolm are Scottish, and lived here till they were about 9 or 10, then moved to Australia.
Same as Bon Scott, he is Scottish and was born here, then moved to Australia when he was younger also.

why does it say on angus youngs wikipedia that he is a scottish born Australian

They didn't go back to Australia. They moved there certainly, but they are Scottish with Scottish parents so they couldn't 'go back'.
Brian and Cliff are not Australian, they are English.
