a good cause to help the political situation, but most of these people probably has and never will understand what high-art and genius they witnessed.
I don't know why, but I prefer this piece to be slower than the speed Horowitz is playing it at. Just a little less in some spots. But otherwise it's perfect. Except for the audio of course :)
Some are too theatrical - putting on an act for attention, while others aren't quite with it.
and then there are those that are a little quirky, but strangely captivating; they put their whole selves into the piece and make it their own.
That is this interpretation. Horowitz uses so much rubato here and so much variation in his interpretation that it's almost overwhelming, and yet it's captivating and interesting and impossible to step away from.
I totally agree with you. Wrong set of values are put upon people today. Big brother shows, cheap, repetative crap music, crime on tv and around, ...all a result of globalised terror of economic greed. People who are honored are lousy, heavily marketed moviestars, 5-minute showmen, ...SAD, REALLY SAD.

It's like listening to recitations of poetry.

Who was the president that invited horowitz to the white house, or whose social secretary extended the invitation?

Madam
In what century do you want to live
In what century do you want to love
As I play away the time on my piano
with sparkling wine and bemused smiles
with French wall paper
and Italian tiles
I only know one thing
the soft and supple love that comes with the early spring

where are the times pianists were invited and honoured at the white house. Mr Obama, what are you waiting for?.....
and where are the apperances of Mr Putin as listener of concerts?
where in europe musicians are still honoured like this?
in england the royal family does go regularly to concerts as in the past?
what a poor period we live in where classical music has no more its important status as in the past....
where are the life transmitions worldwide of classical music as in the past?

A legend indeed! His interpretation is simply the best, even at this age. His legacy is incomparable.
