  • Great Japanese lesson. Truly very good, but I want to see the video where you confronted the guy beating up his girlfriend. Which video is that?

  • @Dax893

    One here: watch?v=Kdi1tMkFxL4

    Another longer one here:

    watch?v=Pcr4AFT5XyA

  • Very nice break down of the article, thanks for putting so much effort into this. It was exceptionally helpful.

  • @Worldtrekker1

Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry for the late reply.

  • Arent there like a hand-ful of murders in Japan every year ?

  • you can get a lot of text books and audio materials on Japanese news in taiwan

  • Great job. I`ve never seen someone post a vid breaking down a news report like that before. It was interesting.

  • what a Great indetailed lesson.

I Love it when you have these, DOMO Arigatou! Gozaimasu

  • Nice lesson hope they catch the guy o3o

  • Thanks for the lesson, I didn't think it was poor at all.

  • Have you ever thought of fan-subbing anime? xD lol just kidding great lesson and what a hilarious, awkward smile at the end!!!

  • Thanks sooo much for this!

  • wow, thanks for all the effort making this. I'll have to watch it a few time more, but it sure is great you work so hard for us gaijin^^

  • Thank you for taking the time to make this lesson.

  • Great lesson! You just didn't mention the 「現場から外国人とみられる」 part but it's ok!

  • @highbridge23

Foreigners and seen from the field

  • International intrigue and suspense! Great lesson, a lot to digest, but it's good to raise the bar!

  • I learned a lot of Japanese in this murder case. Interesting.

    Yokatta ne Victor sensei ,

BTW I wasnt being sarcastic xD

  • otsukare to you victor! really well made video, really enjoyed watching it!

btw, DANG! at the blood still being on the road, that's pretty grim.

    .

  • Oh dear :(

  • Great lesson! Tragic news however, but could you please do more "in-depth" lessons like this? :) I really learned a great deal here :D

  • Man, your underwear is now overcrowded.

  • @iFukuyama the video is long, but there is a lot of repetition in that story which should help reinforce certain vocab words and sentences. in the long run, you don't have to watch it as much as you would a shorter video. would you want to watch a 20 min video twice or a 5 min video eight times? you spend just as much time studying in the end.

i like the longer videos as long as there is some form of repetition to reinforce concepts.

  • @gfan0080

Thanks for the kind comments to my master. (Personally though, I think he did it.)

  • @gimmeabonedog i think he did too, sometimes the teacher in me comes out. gotta separate work from interweb XD

  • お疲れ様でした!^^

News is tragic of course. But cool video nonetheless, really appreciate the lesson, lots of new vocab!

    ありがとうございます!

  • You know... I really enjoy watching your videos.... but they're too damn long!

  • this was extremely useful.

I learnt so much from that.

I can't say exactly what I've learnt but some things are sure to stick with me.

wow, you got me to watch a 22 minute video! congrats :P

  • My biggest problem learning japanese so far is my lack of vocabulary....as well as kanji. Therefore, this lesson is excellent for me. Thanks again!

  • My biggest problem learning japanese so far is my lack of vocabulary....as well as kanji. Therefore, this lesson is excellent for me. Thanks again!

    Otsukari deshita arigatou Gozaimasu!

  • Glad you caught the correction on 4-5. That stuck out to me as soon as you said it and I was wondering how I could fix that for you without offending you. Fantastic job on the translation though. I couldn't do it that well.

  • Thanks for the video, Victor. I thought this one was really helpful. Keep up the good work.

  • cercl

  • Aww man this this is unfortunate... but it is an awesome lesson, thank you!

  • wow thank you so much for this...really doing something for numbnuts like me lol

  • Thanks for the lesson. Though I'm kinda wondering why it's "reiji" instead of "nijuuji". Also I had always wondered what my Japanese friends said to eachother after a game but thanks to you I now realize they were saying otsukarisama deshita. Now I don't have to stand there like a dumbass. cheers

  • wow... thats tragic... would this be related to the ongoing hate between the Chinese and the Japanese? (at least I think its ongoing) or was the victim just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

    anyways thnx for the lesson!

  • Victor is the perpetrator !! ><

  • want that t-shirt !

    how to buy it ?

  • @akagodofheaven

They sell here for about $US20 (I think). If you really want one... I could find one, I guess. I don't even know if they have an online store.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman im also surprised you got this close, i know they already investigated

but i wouldv guessed they keep it sealed off.

shindo = progress. so "shindo ho wa"? wakanai.

ok i get it. the progress made was they found out he was chinese.

    chuugokujin = chinese person.

  • Great lesson man. I migh say damn do they really killed the guy and bleed on his neck ! Well that is a nice lesson after all shit happends everywhere it is a good lesson to learn about the new what happend.

  • Even though I'm just a Japanese beginner, I watched the whole video and I think it's really interesting! Not just the case itself, but of course the Japanese news report ;) I think I learned some stuff, thanks for the good work :) おつかれさまでした!

  • Holy shit, of all places a murder in your street? Seeing as how seldom people are murdered in Japan? Hope the murderer doesn't go for you next, haha.

  • one of the best learning video i´ve seen, really good

    gracias victor

with the distorsion of the video the skin looks like plasticine or peach

  • The end of this video kind of made me smile too, that's just evil.

  • damn! I really shouldnt have been eating when the last bit of this video was played, yuck!

please do a follow up on this and let us know if they caught the perpetrator

  • @fomiz

    Will do!

  • I had fun with this lesson because it tackles on sentences and somehow I got an idea on how to form them. More of these news kind of lessons please. I subscribed :)

  • this was really helpful!! tasukari mashite^^ arigatou!! do more!! :)

  • Despite the horrific crime, I learned allot from this video.

  • lol sounds like some crazy shit in japan. yakuzas taking out triads lol. good study video though. thanks for making it.

  • Someone died and we learn Japanese on his case, somehow it doesn't feel right.

  • Good lesson. Sad but good. So is this a new direction your taking for your channel. Out and about Nagoya reporting the news? Could be a new channel for you! Gimmethenewsman...i would subscribe!

  • Great lesson...... Theme..... I guess we have to learn about every possible situation.

You are right, the lady and the guy at the news, God, so difficult to even hear the basics... they speak too fast. It's easier when you speak. But it's a great idea to listen to them and then you or vs.

    Thank you Victor-sensei.

  • A MURDER! wow that's a little scary.

  • lulz. Thanks for making this long ass video. I don't think many people would have the same patience as you to do for this.

  • @Radrey OR... it's just you who aren't patient but mostly everyone else is

    who knows

  • sa~te, hayaku meitantei conan wo yonda hou ga ii janai deshou ne~

bikuta-, meitantei conan wa shitteru noka?

aitsu nara, jiken wo sugu ni tokerareru zo ~

  • @Dragogen

     wwww!

  • sa~te, hayaku meitantei conan wo yonda hou ga ii janai deshou ne~

bikuta-, meitantei conan wa shitteru noka?

  • awesome lesson!!! make more of these :)

  • that guy walking past at 21:08 looked so suspicious! llol

  • that was a great vid man, i learnt alot of new words, im at the point now where ive got the grammer and sentence structure quite well down, now its just building on my vocab bank

  • Your only 25?? o.O Really?

  • During my first trip to Japan, which was about 12 yrs ago, I was hanging out with some friends in (what we thought was) a quiet bar in Kyoto. All of a sudden there was a big commotion in the back, some people screamed, and someone went bolting past us and out the bar. Shortly after, the house lights all came on and we were ushered out. We later learned that two patrons were stabbed to death. Welcome to Japan huh? Fortunately I never witnessed anything like that again in Japan though.

  • @shimewaza

    Cool story. And very rare.

  • Damn, intense lesson! Really cool to follow along with your speaking. Learned lots of new vocab from this, thanks a million Victor :)

It's a sad story news report though.

  • Any chance of you putting the english versions of each word in the description ? Or on in the video ?

  • @nielswolfgang

Good idea. if I have some time tomorrow... will do. That reminds me! I owe subs on the fox tail vid.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman Thank you very much sir. Ganbarimasu!

  • Victor you rock, great lesson!

Looking forward to the next one :D

    Thanks a lot :D

  • I was shocked that something like that would happen in Japan. Unfortunately when you said the victim was Chinese, it made more sense. I have not seen any violence in Southern Osaka in 1 and a half years but I did hear 2 Chinese guys had a fight during a language school open day, infront of 20-30 shocked looking OAP's

  • @OneEyedBeastTV

Hate to say it but ... bloody gajin. Actually 2 Iranians got into some violence here about 1 year ago too. I'm sure the J-crime still outnumbers gaijin crime, but even I *feel* like it's the other way around.

  • damn, talk about thorough *thumbs up*

  • Crikey - freaky to have that so close.

  • Great lesson.. I'll have to watch it a few more times. :P

That's crazy it happened so close to your school.. yikes,

Thanks for all your hard work Victor.

Oh.. and creep smile at the end. :P

  • @BIGTRIP460

Mainichi news claims that it was a fight among a group of Chinese men, so probably not.

  • quite a knife fight.

  • That smile at the end was pretty creepy. I hope you didn't murder some guys just to have a good lesson to teach. That would be a great crime drama. roflol

  • @Hatterific

I have to agree. Even I'm asking myself, "Man! What are you smiling about!!??"

  • @Gimmeaflakeman Maybe you smiled because something new happened.on that boring street.

  • @SilverGunZoO

BTW, thanks for the support on the lastest vid. Don't know what that guy has up his butt. But I was just saying THANKS for the support!

  • @Gimmeaflakeman He put so much effort into his hate comment, he must have no life ^^

  • The repetitive and graphic nature of this really helped me learn it. Great lesson. Thanks a lot.

  • Your smile at the end made me laugh. You know.. now we know where you live... or the area where you live. O.O

  • yikes

  • hey new YouTube home page layout/design"

    ┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐

  • You live in Nagoya?? I just met a girl with GIANT titties that lives there!!

  • @Nextstopearth

    Pictures or it never happened!

  • Okay, I already commented...but I have now actually watched the video and I must say, it's my fav. so far!!! I love the way you wrote out everything the way you did, and are explaining it. I think I've learned more from this video in these few minutes than i've ever learned in my two hour weekly lessons. lol! please please please do more like this style. love love love them!

  • Heard about that murder....glad to know it wasn't you :)

  • HAHA that was quite the awkward smile, Im thinking Im going to have to watch this a few times to soak it all up.. Thanks for the great vids :D

  • Hahah, christ man, you don't rule out anything for a possible Japanese lesson :P Hey someone just died! Lest make it educational!

    Rock on.

  • You did have some pointers that I could understand that made me feel good inside thank you :)

  • I fear for your life. You need to immediately move out of the Nagoya ghetto.

P.S. Female Japanese newscasters are sooooo hot...even when they're talking about murder.

  • お疲れさまでした。CERCL.. Loved the lesson, not many times I can watch a Japanese news report and have a clue about what they are saying, very cool :) Thanks Victor!

  • This is my favorite kind of video. Thanks for putting all the work into this, Victor.

  • Your lessons have really been helping me out, thank you so much for making them. They are really interesting as well. I really appreciate it.

  • That guy att 21:06 reminds me of the protagonist of kung-fu hustle o.o

  • thanks for this lesson, victor. learned many new words from this.

i hope they catch the guys who did this. that is very scary.

  • Extremely helpful. Thank you so much for doing this.

  • really nice work victor but i am wandering if i would ever be able to use that kind of vocabulary, i mean perhaps is not useful for regular daily life. nevertheless, is a great video that shows interesting points in the daily life of Japanese people.

  • nice work victor!

  • great video! really helpful, lots of awesome vocabulary and grammar!

what was going on with the foreigner being mentioned (on screen, but not spoken) at like 19:15? something to do with the fact that the murdered man was chinese? I couldn't quite make it out but i thought i saw "gaikokujin to mirareru"...potential form? passive form? (probably not honorific form)? It's annoying how that conjugation can be all three...

  • @icanfiksthat I think it might be passive, as in a foreigner reported that he saw 4-5 others leaving the scene.

  • uh,,,yeah a little creepy there at the end. does this happen often in Nagoya?

  • Even though I'm from a city with a lot of violent crime, it's still hard to hear of the murders that occur. I'm sure Victor knows what I'm talking about.

  • Thanks i believe that was the most informative video i've watched of your's so far & please keep us updated on the case.

  • @defset

    Appreciate the feedback!

  • Very well done video. In many respects, it was more informative and helpful than another source of Japanese learning I visit often.

  • @Relatharr

Thanks! Your comments mean a lot!

  • yes!! a long video! love them!!!!

  • @Oram22 agree :D

  • Contrary to your self criticism about the structure of the video, I found it to be one of the most helpful that I have watched. It reminded me of reading to a child.

  • @cyberkreig

    Kids are morons too! LOL!

  • this was great. more, more.

  • I'm taking Japanese courses right now at the Japanese community center in my city, but my teacher doesn't seem to know what to answer when I asked that question: according to you, what should I learn first? Reading or speaking? And in reading, should I learn Kanji first, or Hiragana or Kitakana? Thanks.

  • @WorldOfSnakes

I started studying japanese at the end of 2010. You'll learn Hiragana in 1-2 weeks, not hard at all. To get the katakana in your head afterwards is abit tricky but wont take too long time. Thereby to learn kanji, will take quite along time to do. So dont focus on what to learn first. Just get to know your hiragana and katakana and proceed with the rest after that.

Thanks alot for the video btw Gimmeaflakeman, it's great!

  • @Celamux Yeah I'm drilling the hiragana in my head...and I think when I start with the katakana, I'll be confusing both writings. However, I know that the trick is to practice a lot and a lot, and I'll do just that:) Thanks for the reply!

  • @WorldOfSnakes

Hiragana and katakana first. DRILL! THEN kanji.

  • @Gimmeaflakeman Thanks, yes I drill them in my head!

  • thanks for the lesson

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this video, my king!

  • Thanks alot this was very informative, and you going through sentence by sentence really helped.

  • Not smiling at the end, huh? We can't rule you out as a suspect just yet...

  • @GenericGuitarGuy

I have an alibi! Maggie will back me up!

  • Amazing job as always. Thanks a lot!

  • 4thPS u dont look red in this vid :D

  • Thats sad. Japan does not have much crime. But I guess no place can be crimeless...except antartica...

  • damn, i was beaten by 56 seconds!

  • first
