  • Honestly, the first cage you had wasn't much different than the tank? And they are both a fine size. This is a weird video.

  • @britduhaime The cage (40x30cm) is much smaller than the tank (100x40cm)! That is a huge difference.

My hamster could survive in both, but for his quality of life it is better to get him more space.

  • at 2:33.. what kind of bedding is in that cage???

  • @gabyh2012 Woodshavings

  • i have a hammy rascal and is a year old... is it to late to give him a dustbath like will he get an allergic reaction or watever?

  • que video chaaaaatooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • This made me cry? I dunno just the way the hamster and the music go so well together:')<3

  • i want a hamster but my mom said no how do i get her to say yes?

  • Another mistake is the bedding - it contains a high amount of dust!

It can cause respiratory problems. I made the same mistake but now i use Hemp, as it's called.

    But awesome video! :)

  • my hamster has an 80 galon all to him self its kind hard to find him some times.

  • @dede07gee dear diary,i cant find my hamster, its been a month

  • Right now I have a 20 gal tank, but it's a pain to clean so I want to use an old Mac computer as a home. Is that too small? You can search Gucci and Prada Hamsters on YouTube to see what kind of cage I'm talking about. Please reply soon! ^_^

  • @pinkxlolly I don`t know if I found the right video, but the vid I have seen is too small....A hamster cage should have this size in minimum (bigger is better) 100cmx40cmx40cm

  • if you likes hamsters visit my channel you´ll like it =)

  • you no what its okay to make mistakes and youll learn from them

  • Thank you so much for doing this video. When I bought my hamster about a month ago, the store worker helped me pick out a cage and I find it's for too tiny for him. I'm heading straight out to buy a tank for him as he constantly bites the bar, despite having loads of chew toys.

  • @Hammielover6 40€

  • The tank is huge!

  • what kind of wheel is that i want one.

  • @dede07gee A woodent wheel.

  • I love my hamsters i have7 I keep them all in there own cage.i feed the a Bird feed food with a mixture of sunflower seeds. and lots of other seeds. my only bad part about having so many hamsters is not being able to play with all the every day. but i love them all so much. i try to find good homes but then i start worrying they are not taking good care of my babys so i stop selling them.i just wished i had a giant cage so they could run free. but all i can do is JUST LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF them

  • So many people give in to the hype about rotastak and other fancy looking cages without knowing whether its suitable for their hamster or not. Myself being one of them. Well, as you so rightly put, mistakes can be corrected! Thanks for posting. Love this video!

  • How many time in a day you feed your hamster ?

  • @MeLiEoNeFiVe Once a day!

  • Great video. The cages that they sell on the petshop are very bad... you make a great job with the new cage. The only complaint I get is the sawdust that isn't the best choice.

  • where can you get that tank and all the accessories?

  • OMG i love your tank! it's amazing, i'm sure your hammie loves it! I have the habitrail ovo loft and it's too small :(

  • I really love this video, because a lot of us have made those same mistakes. I hope your video got a few people to see some of these common mistakes and keep them from making the same ones. Thank you for sharing! <3

  • @Jewelielie Thank you! I am really suprised how many hits this video has already! This is great!^^

  • Eh there I had a question for you I have a 20 gallon long aquarium measurements are 12 inches high 31 inches long I was wobdering if there was a way that I could make a second floor I know my tank is not to tall but you think I can what did you make your platform out of...? and is it cleanable?

  • @MzToonz the platform is out of wood and of course is it cleanable.

  • @Meredith1917 how do you clean the wood part...?

  • @MzToonz with a cleaning rag ( don`t know if this is the right word^^) but my hamster does not pee/poop on it, so there is only dust on it...

  • @Meredith1917 thank you so much that is the right word thanks i'm going to michaels to go get supliees to build one...

  • hallo :)!!

wollte mal fragen wie groß das aquarium ist?

    PS: tolles video!!! ;)

  • @LisaXgoesXwild 100x40x40cm

  • I got a question, not about the hamsters but..uh, how do you do those little hearts in the title ????pls reply

  • @AlextheGreat0567 copy and paste

  • WOW! this video ist really good! so much people buy a hamster an they had to life in small cages or so!!! This video is so great because you told us, that you are not perfect and the hamster you means a lot! I´m not from england so I can´t write so good.

BUT NICE AND VERY GOOD VIDEO

  • @Klarinette101 Thank You :)

  • i got my hasmter at pets mart 3 days ago how do i get him uised to me and make him stay on my hand not run somehwere all the time??

  • @inesasmiley give it some time to feel like home :)

  • Ummmmm My parents wanna know how much money it will cost in total (2 Gerbils, Aquarium Food, wood shavings Etc.) Plz reply!! ;)

  • @1337Nicko Okay, aqua ca 40€, bedding 5€, food 5€, house or playstuff 20€, how much gerbils cost I do not know :-/, my hamster did cost 12€...So probably it will cost around 100€ ( give or take), which are 130 US Dollar or 83 british pounds....

  • @1337Nicko i sa y about hmm 80$-90$

    cage is about 30

    2 hamster 50 25$s each

food and betting plus etc. umm i say about 15-20 bucks :)

  • how many gallons is this new tank?

  • ok thanks!

  • @Meredith1917 i am going to my grandparents house for christmas and it is about a 7 hour drive, i have to take my robo and i was wondering what you would suggest for me to do to make his stress level minimal

  • @TheArtichoke14 mmh, if your cage isn`t too big you should keep him in the cage for the drive, so he has his place where he feels safe... When the cage is too big, than you probably willput him in something smaller, but than make sure that you but some of the used bedding from his cage in the transport box...then the transport box smells for him just like his home ;-)

  • i have a robo and i was wondering if you can leave the sand bath in the cage all of the time or if you have to only leave it in for short amounts of time

  • @TheArtichoke14 You can leave it in the cage. a sand bath is very important and belongs in every hamster cage, especially in robo cages, cause their natural habitat are desert regions, like the desert gobi...

  • 0:55 IS SOOOOO CUTE

  • 2:56 looks like he buried himself :P

  • 2:56 .. . What happened ?

  • @ItzCaszi nothing. einstein likes to sleep under the bedding, I just made a picture of it,cause it looks funny ;-)

  • man... my cage is just that size except its a two story... i thought it was good :(

  • Woow ö

  • can you please answear this question.

Do they smell bad? like do they stink the room up

  • @lovekittys123 No. Nothing stinks.

  • @lovekittys123 Actually they do smell bad after 6-12days depending on you cage size. If you are looking for a hamster that doesn't really stink try keeping a roboovsoki

  • @ChaoDeChiBai No, they do not smell. Of course you have to clean the peeing area daily. Otherwise it starts to smell, but that is the case for every hamster.

  • @lovekittys123 it's the pee that smells REALLY bad. if you clean the area where he/she pees on, I believe it son't smell

  • Um, that's a nice sized cage. Who said that was too small??

  • @codeythesilent Everyone, who knows a bit about the needs of a hamster...

  • @Meredith1917

Unless it's a trick with the camera, that cage looks decently sized.

  • @codeythesilent As Meredith said it was really too small. Hamsters need a cage/tank of 100x50 cm !

  • How much did the little guy cost? Hes so cute! I would get one but my mom says if it cant wear a sadal then no :(

  • @olivia22145 Einstein did cost 12€, which are ca. 16 USD. Everything together ( hamster/tank/wheel ect...) did cost ca. 100USD.

  • what is the song title??

  • I love your video!

Im very proud of you that you learned how to take right care of hamster :)

Im a hamster breeder and now i have 5 hamster and all of them live in 100x50cm terrarium :)

And is so terrible look videos where hamster live on very small cage :( and have very much "pipes" :(

I hope that everybody really watch your video AND LEARNE something!! :)

    THUMB UP!!!

  • I LOVE this video :)

I am so happy to see a positive hamster video. There is so much cruelty to hams on Youtube, and this is a great example of how a hamster owner SHOULD be.

Really inspiring and awesome- great job. I hope a lot of people view this video!

  • awwww he is so cute

  • I srly need a tank as big as that one. I have a 2o gallon one for my 2 robo girls and I think they are starting to get into "arguments"...I need a bigger house for them! Could you please tell me where u got those 2nd floor accessories? the wood ones

  • @Sukhime I made them. ;-)

  • I agree whole-heartedly that the most important thing is for people to do their research BEFORE buying Any pet.

It makes me kind of upset when people rag on pet stores, though, because I work at one and me and all my co-workers couldnt care MORE about the animals. The breeders suck, I'll give you that. But hamsters DO go in to quarantine for a week before introduction to others, and we do everything we can for all the animals that are in our care...

You gave Einstein a great home. Good for you.

  • I care for hamsters but the first cage was fine to me you could of got a a round play pen with a tall fence put treats and toys which would of been fine in my opinion just people short on money like me can't get a 42 gallon tank but at-least you care a lot :D

  • @Ultra441 The crazy thing about this is that I brought the first cage for 60€ and the big tank only costs 40€ ! So, bigger must not be always more expensive!

  • How big is that tank? (:

  • @mooboow It is a 160l tank (42.27 US gallons)

  • What pet shop gave u bad information?

  • where did you get that tank becuase i realy want one like that :\

  • @themrpokemonfan in a hardware store

  • @Meredith1917 at 1:54, you have that clear half circle bowl with chinchila dust in it, were did you buy that?

  • @loveteeko It was from Nanu-Nana..Don't know if you know that stores :-/

    But maybe Ikea has them?

  • Very nice of you, explaining what's wrong with some of the pet industry...They just want to sell!!! They don't give a F about Animals!!!

  • at 2:47 i thought he was stuck but then i remembered hamsters burrow lol

  • the first cage was really big wat r u talkin about mine is smaller

  • @VickyLiciousSTAR The first one was much too small for a hamster. The minimum size is 100x40x40cm, every cage below this is too small.

  • This video is so true and good. I wish everybody who wish to get a pet hammy should watch it. I also make same mistake as this, worse thing is pet shop sell me Critter Trail cage, which is way too small for syrian :( The worst of all is , its very difficult to find a big enough tank for Hammy, I end up buying big tank from Aquarium Shop. Now my hammy got big house all to himself :))

  • @mayxiu Thank you ;-) Unfortunately, most people here won't see that the cages are too small :( And I realized that it is very difficult to find appropriate cages and tanks. In germany you can get big tanks in hardware stores, for ca. $40! Nevertheless, most Hamster owners in germany have cages, which are too small -.- The only thing you can to is to inform these people... I think it is great that you brought a big tank for your hamster! =)

  • @Meredith1917 Its great that u can buy big tank easily for reasonable price :) Here in singapore, big fish tank r quite expensive and most of the pet shops sell only small and pathetic cages for hamsters and always give reason like hamsters don't need a lots of space . Grrr, don't want to sound like ranting :D Btw love Einstein <3 adorableness .

  • @mayxiu Well, I think the pet shops are the same all over the world, because it is the same here ;-) Good that someone like you want to give a hamster a home that is really big enough =) I wish all people would think like you do....Thank you =))

  • uhhh the first cage was WAY better there was like 2 feet of bedding i am just confused

  • @reptofreak4 the first cage is too small! a hamster needs much bedding, because a hamster likes to dig....so, why are you confused?

  • Cool how much did your tank cost? and where was it from??

  • @thefunnyface2011 It cost about 40€, which are about 56 USdollar. I got it from a hardware store.

  • where did you get the sand bath glass container?

  • @thatgirldaniellea I think it was Ikea... ;-)

  • i did the same thing as u did

  • how many gals is that tank?

  • @SelGomez505 It is a 160l tank (42.27 US gallons)

  • how many times in a week do you change your hamsters beddings? like shredders

  • @33353529Lyrene I only change the bedding once in 2-3 month. I clean is toilet area daily of course, otherwise it wouldn't be hygienic! It stesses hamsters to clean all of the bedding, because hamsters do territoral markings to "feel at home" and that would be gone by cleaning it weekly....If you can but so much bedding in as I can, you will see that if you clean the peeing area daily, nothing starts to smell and you wouldn't have to clean all of the bedding!

  • @Meredith1917 Thank you very much for the answer! :D

  • @33353529Lyrene If you only use small amounts of bedding in a smaller cage than it is necessary to clean it once a week!

  • i love it

  • I love your tank!(: Your hammy is too cute. But I have to ask.. where'd you find that background?

  • @xcolurfulxpopsiclex Thank you =) I got it from an internet petshop, but usually you can get those in normal petshops, which have a terrarium section. This backround has two sides, the desert like side with the cacti and the jungle side.

  • hey for that much bedding in that size tank how often do u have to clean it

  • @hal0wars9 only every 2-3month. the area where he pees every day!

  • @Meredith1917 WHAT 2-3 MONTHS?!?!?!

i clean my hamsters cage every week!!

  • @Awesumkake Yes, your hamster has probably a smaller cage... If I would clean Einsteins cage every week completly, then there would be much wasted bedding because everyting is still clean. Hamsters are very clean animals they often only pee/poop on one corner...that must be cleaned every day otherwise it would start to smell.

  • cooles aqua!!!

  • is it ok for the hamster to dig deep down?they wont be out of breath or oxygen?

love all your video :D im sure Einstein is happy..hehe

  • @markjohn2689 Yes, that is perfectly fine for hamster. There goes enough oxygen through the bedding ;-)

    Thank you =)

  • may i ask is this a 3ft long tank?or 4ft? im planning to get my hamster a tank but i need a good space for him..its a syrian...is 2.5ft ok?or 3ft at most

  • @markjohn2689 It is a 3.3ft tank to be precisely. I would say 3ft at most, bigger is always better for a hamster ;-)

  • what kinda bedding ur using?

  • @markjohn2689 Any Woodshavings (which aren't dusty), but not from coniferous trees.

  • i love the picture of einstein above the tank, the cage is AWESOME! seriously ur like the best owner ever. i love hammyssss!

  • @Fewey12345 Thank you! I made this picture at art classes. The task was to make anything, which you think is a heroic gesture... I do not think I'm the best, there are a lot of people, who have better cages, but thank you ;-)

  • haha i think your the best tho.(: np i only speak the truth, so no need to thank me. :D

  • omg i love the cage !! but arnt you scared she will get lost or suffocate in the bedding ?

  • @Leashh8227 Thank you :) No, he cannot get lost or suffocate in the bedding. He builts his own tunnels through the bedding and knows always where he is ;) and he can breath under the bedding, because there are lots of openings...

  • aww so cute yet so sad

  • awwww so cute yet so sad

  • how much was ur tank?

  • @jferr120498 40 euros

  • @Meredith1917 but like american dollars though

  • @jferr120498 40 Euro = 59,53 US-Dollar

  • Great video! AMAZING CAGE! I love it! I keep Jojo, my Syrian, in a 20 gallon long, but yours is hamster paradise! I need to get a bigger cage for Sonny, my other hamster. Right now he's kept in a 10 gallon that is much too small. I'll either get a tank topper, a 20 gallon tall, or a WARE Natural cage.

  • ok then maby in germany but here cages are realy expensive here is the uk (in England) tanks like that would be £150 over here but your cage is amazing he has loads of room to run and u have a big high digging corner for him luv it hope u like my cage its very different now thow !!! ;D

  • @thehamstey Ok, thats expensive! In fact, I attached another area were Einstein has his sandbath and wheel. So, he has his whole tank for digging, runnin and hiding! He loves it :-) You can see this attachment in the video called: Einsteins Aquarienanbau ( It is in german, but you still can watch the pictures)

  • Your hamster is very lucky!!!

And how big is the tank you have?? :)

    Please reply!!!

  • @Eleness82Thank you ;) It is a 160l tank (42.27 US gallons).

  • good vid

  • I love your cage,, how did you get your water bottle to stick on your aquarium and where did you get the lid?!? I have a teddy bear hamster and am thinking of doing the same thing please respond!!

  • @sydney56781 Thanks ;-) My hamster does not have a water bottle, he uses a water bowl. You have to buy a vacuum cup holder to stick a bottle on an aqua. You can get this in a pet store. I built the lid by myself, this is much cheaper than buying one in this size. Teddy bears are very cute =)

  • his first cage was ok but his second cage is better

  • @thehamstey no, his first cage wasn't ok, it was much too small for a hamster!!! the tank he has now is ok. The tank has the minimum cage size a hamstercage should have here in germany. bigger is better!

  • omg he must love that tank my hamsters living in a cage smaller than the one in the beginning :(

  • @sammyb1998 Yeah, he loves it!! ;-) In fact it is bigger now! You can see it in one of my vids called: Einsteins Aquarienanbau ( it is in german, but you can see pictures of it!)

  • @Meredith1917 yester day i just changed my hamsters cage to a pretty big tub so he is not living in a small cage

  • @sammyb1998 good ;-)

  • the pic of him at 58 seconds omg he is sooooo cute

  • what size tank is that?

  • @darbug01 It is a 160l tank (42.27 US gallons).

  • @Meredith1917 ohh cool. I jsut got a 15 gallon for my hamster :P

  • @darbug01 me too i am using a 15 gallon long for my 1 small dwarf hamster... :D

  • let me quess...living in germany?

  • @orsalonlol yes I do. =)
