  • Kurt Cobain, my hero, THE legend.. rip.

  • 29 People Justin Bieber FAN!

  • wish the lyrics were easier to hear.

  • him not being dead is the part that won't stop hurting, Now you've been let in. I know when he's been around because the birds talk clearer. Coffee berries will make blueberries. I remember when he was so hungry I was afraid of the voice, of his presence, but my God I'd want Kurt for a brother.

  • @cassoandchristyo What a news! Like we wouldn't know...

  • Everything fits, but the organ at the end chills me every time.

  • This is mandatory listening.

  • Gives me Goosebumps....I know what this is about

  • Totally a weep for Kurt. REM was to release monster in less than a year after Kurts death. Stipe wanted to collaborate, but sadly Kurt was too sad in emotion. Tragedy

  • You are wrong @Boccherini64 the song is about Kurt

  • Shit, I'm getting all teary

  • In Memoriam "Kurt Cobain"

  • hey guys does anyone know a song( R.E.M) wich goes like " 'cause eeeverything, eeeverythiiing...eeeends...." I remember watching it first time on some music channel, at 2009 I think, and it was brand new.... I've searched the whole internet.... :(

  • Apparently this song is about the REM drummer who was in a coma for a time, for some reason and the band wrote this... not Kurt Cobain. Of course i could be wrong

  • @Boccherini64

No, This song was certainly for Kurt. I was at REM's monster tour live in Japan and Courtney Love was there. At the end of the concert, REM played this song for Courtney.

  • Thank You for uploaded video! Thank You very much!

  • Who's Kurt Cobain? You're either a joker or a little backward pal.

  • @chambta kurt cobain was good friends with R.E.M's singer, and they were planning on working together b4 kurt offed himself.

  • @chambta This song is a tribute to K.D. Cobain, FYI

  • @chambta

Kurt Cobain is the leaf singer of Nirvana and Michale Stipe was good friends with him in fact he was Kurt's daughter's god father so if you didn't know he Shot him self down and this is R.E.M.'s good bye to him.

  • @lovelaj0149 lead singer*

  • @lovelaj0149 at least people THINK he shot himself.

  • @kowtpr187 i beleve that there is a lot more to the story but still it's hard to say that Cortney was the fault

  • @kowtpr187 The government shot Cobain at the sight where they filmed the fake moon landings. He's buried with all the people the passengers of flight 11, 77, 93, and 175, killed by the government of course.

  • @TheBrainMachine78 You think you are the brain machine, but they should rename you the "SHITMACHINE"....seems more appropriate with all the verbal crap that flows out of your mouth!

  • @kowtpr187 Yo momma.

  • @TheBrainMachine78 cool comeback!

  • @TheBrainMachine78 im not gonaa bash u idc how u think kurt died but theres one problem with what u just said...kurt was cremated and his daughter frances spread his ashes across a lake at olympia washington...and also i dont think they faked the moon landing at kurts house......

  • @chambta lead singer*

  • who's Kurt cobain?

  • @Blink41ColdRomance OMFG ARE YOU OKAY?

  • @Blink41ColdRomance that's better be one pretty fucking awful joke

  • @MrMonsterstiffy Hate to break it to you, But I like Kurt's music, a whole fucking lot, and I'm still here, I didn't die, and Micheal Stipe would kick your ass if he heard you say that, so get out

  • @Blink41ColdRomance youre living in 1967?

  • Mike is playing Kurts Fender Mustang on this song...

  • @windfall19 im pretty sure its his jagstang but i maybe wrong?

  • @1212MrTomb Its definitely Kurt's jagstang. A documentary had a clip of R.E.M. recording this w/ Peter Buck playing the guitar upside down because Kurt played left-handed.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... hate to be picky like, but pretty sure it was mike playin' kurt's guitar. pete's playin' the glorious organ part, no??

  • @1212MrTomb you are indeed correct, it was his Jag-Stang!

  • Stipes is the godfather to Frances

  • @AcousticLauson nice, I didn't know that. :)

  • I listened to this song a trillion times when i was like 13 and getting into music :P an REM classic

  • so beautiful and underrated song.. soo much emotion in his voice

  • Kurt Cobain i miss you im glad Michal Stipe keeps your memory

  • that organ at the end makes a perfect requiem

  • prachtig

  • so fucking gret song!!!

  • Legend singing about a legend, pure class

  • Stop, making m want to kill you

  • Great song! and played with K. Coban's guitar

  • Great song!

  • my favorite REM album, by a longshot. the shift in octave at 1:42 is simple, but so brilliant. you are held prisoner by this song, and it refuses to let you go.

  • REM played Slane Ireland in 1995.

When this song came on all the audience spun squashed soft drinks containers in the air .It was a beautiful summer night around 10:30pm, then the lighters came out it was awesome.

It is one of the best memories of my life. I love REM.

  • I wore this tape out when I was a kid...I never "got" this track, but I'd listen to it over and over...thanks for posting.

  • This amazing song deserves such a better video.

  • it was probably the last song ever to be made with kurts own guitar. very sad song, and very good

  • RIP

    Kurt D. Cobain

    1967 - For Ever.

  • hey dynamic- remember we all find our own paths in life and some are not

what we expect. I too have dealt with that, a couple of times. Do your best to

carry on your buddies spirit, because thats really all you can do. Love his life

and you will become a better friend and a better person for it.

  • My best friend just took his own life a few days ago. This song has had me in tears ever since. Hopefully it ends up healing me.

  • @thedynamichispanic may you never know sorrow again

  • @thedynamichispanic omg - i hope i never experience that. peace and solace to you, hispanic. im sorry.

  • For some reason I always seem to love the more alternative albums the most. Monster when it comes to R.E.M., Zooropa when it comes to U2. Wish more albums like these were made.

  • Awesome! My favorite song off of Monster. :)

  • Catastrophically fucking brlliant

  • When these guys are great, they're fuckin great. When they're mediocre... they're pretty mediocre.

  • @JustCamus I am a big fan of REM and it hurts me to agree with you.

  • @Qabalith, I was a big fan, too- R.E.M. were the first band I saw in concert: August 20, 1999 at New World Music Theatre in Tinley Park (now First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre). I had a good time.

Automatic For The People is pretty much flawless, and there's at least a little magic on every other album.

  • @JustCamus Yeah i'd have to agree. Although there are the odd flashes of brilliance on accelerate (Mr Richards for one)....not since New Adventures has an REM album really smoked. Still....there are few bands in the world with the back catalogue these guys have!!

  • What effects he use for guitar. tnx

  • me hace acordar a "about a boy" de Patty Smith, tambien dedicada a Kurtco....

  • Kurt Cobain R.I.P

  • RIP Kurt <33

  • Kurt Cobain R.I.P.

  • Very Artistic... Great expressionism. Kurt would be pleased.

  • I thought this song was dedicated to both river phoenix and kurt cobain?

my cd case says for river on it...idk

  • @Konstantine347

The album "Monster" is dedicated to River Phoenix, but the song "Let Me In" is a tribute to Kurt Cobain.

Hope this clears out your doubts :)

  • 16 years........ R.I.P Kurt, you were something too good for this world. Just simply something too fucking awesome. We'll always miss you, I hope you're happy now. I really do... I just can't describe my feelings right now with words...

"If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere lives on. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got."

    -Kurt Cobain

  • thanks ineeded a good cry..

  • @jeaniebaby001 hope it helped - sometimes a song like this is what you need to release the pent up tension.

  • and i love it okay?

  • I hate that this song had to be made and although it is good and very moving at the same time. I would've rather heard a collaboration with Stipe and Cobain or Nirvana and REM that would've been something.

  • this video with it's simple idiosyncratic single shot of some guy just nervously twiddling his thumbs is an interesting fit into a tribute to a grunge icon

  • B-side gem.

  • Kurt Cobains Sonic Blue Jag-Stang Guitar (serial #0000000000-KC) was given to R.E.M.s Peter Buck by Courtney Love after Cobain died.

And, yea, that's the one Peter used to play this.

  • Very Good Song. The video on the other hand...

  • This is NOT the real video. trust me

  • @rem857 whether or not it's the real video, it's very interesting and it fits the song..

  • @dhm80 There is no "real video" - REM did not make a video for this song.

  • @dhm80 u think watching this jerkoffs thumbs twirl to the sound of the voice or what the lyricsare saying is interesting? It's lame it's not artistic either it's like a little kid sorta.

  • Comment removed

  • i always thought this song was a powerful ode to kurt cobain but when i found out they used his guitar to play it, it just took on all new meaning

  • Damn, you just do not get great bands like R.E.M, Nirvana, and all of the bands live them from the 90's and before. I have only found two bands from the last 15 years or so. System of a Down(reminds me of RATM) and Shinedown(very Soundgarden like). New AIC, and Pearl Jam is great though.

  • absolutely agree but I can´t stand soad dunno why ...

they got some great stuff but some songs just irritate me

  • Did you know that Soundgarden is Reuniting?

  • no, thx for the info anyway. I´ve just heard that RATM is going to reunite for one concert which is going to take place in U.K. this summer. Hoping to get some tickets. would be nice ...

  • Yeah they are gonna be in London in June

  • R.E.M are gona be in london?!!!

  • No I dint

  • Dude, I heard that they might but is it a for sure thing? I swear Soundgarden is one of my fav bands of all time! I hope they reunite, I really fucking do!

  • yes, i know!

  • right after timbaland raped chris cornell. surprised soundgarden even want him back...

  • I love you Kurt

    I need you Kurt

    I miss you Kurt

  • The song is about Kurt Cobain.

  • Thats what I said to my friend 30 seconds ago.

  • THEY'RE SO FUCKIN' GREAT!!!!

  • "I had a mind to try and stop you, let me in." Haunting lyrics, haunting melody pure class.

  • This song is The Song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone know of this one movie i never got to watch the movie or got the name but i remmember that it was abt some teenagers going to seattle for kurts funeral...... does this ring a bell to anyone? i saw a bit of it on upn abt 4yrs ago but never got the name or anything if someone could help me that would rock

  • never knew the relation with this song and kurt - let me in..... lllllllleeeeeegend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, let me in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, let me in, let me in. I had a mind to try to stop you. Let me in, let me in. But I've got tar on my feet and I can't see. All the birds look down and laugh at me. Clumsy, crawling out of my skin. Hey, let me in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, let me in. Hey, let me in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, let me in

  • Yeah, all those stars drip down like butter,

And promises are sweet. We hold out our pans with our hands to catch them. We eat them up, drink them up, up, up, up.Hey, let me in. Hey, let me in. I only wish that I could hear you whisper down, Mister fisher moved to a less peculiar ground. He gathered up his loved ones and he brought them all around. To say goodbye, nice try.

  • yeah is about a telephone call between kurt and mike stipe, he was struck by that call

  • let me in is for Kurt

  • @jellybeafter kurt and river phoenix who was also a close friend of Stipe's and died a few months prior in 1993.

  • Thx @ Saffyminty

  • RIP Brother.

  • For Kurt ..I thougt it was written for River Phönix.

He was a close friend for/to (?) Michael..

    Sry for my english..^^

  • The album Monster was dedicated to River Phoenix not this song. Stipe has said that Let Me In is what he wanted to/should have said to Kurt prior to his death.

Some people believe other songs, such as So Fast So Numb and possibly E-Bow are about River. Departure also has a similar theme about someone Michael misses who's died young - it may have been written about either, or neither.

  • Umm sorry, but you're flat out wrong. All these songs were basically written before River died. E-Bow and NAIHF are definitely more dedicated to him than anything from Monster.

  • No, sorry, I know SOME of these songs were written B4 River died, but the majority of the album was recorded AFTER his death in Oct '93.

Check out the dedication on the Monster album, which says simply: "For River". Rain Phoenix also sings backup on one song.

  • Wha is this song about?

  • this song is about kurt cobain from nirvana.

  • @bigmuso1 glad its not about kurt cobain from metallica :) Kurt&REM forewa!

  • Kurt Cobain. He was the lead singer/guitarist of Nirvana and a close friend of the singer from REM (idk his name)

  • Michael Stipe and you should know that

  • Muzika je přeřvaná slovům není rozumět

  • stupid ass video but wow what a great song

  • I thought Monster was post grunge shoegaze rubbish, but I have always liked this song... even more I think it's one of the most touching songs of the 90's so beautiful and haunting w/ the lyrics. Best REM song for me along with At My Most Beautiful, World Leader Pretend, E-bow the letter, Man on the Moon and The Great Beyond

  • R.I.P Kurt...

    We love you

    Awesome song

  • will we ever know the truth about his death??

  • Great tune. great song

  • one of their greatest songs, I wanna make music as beautiful and simple as this......

  • Monster was a GREAT album. Like Achtung Baby for U2, it let R.E.M. go to a place they had never been before and to break free from what their fans thought they should be...

  • kurt cobain was a good singer and deserves to be sang about

  • This is the absolut song for the pain of losing a friend, the absence, the cry for all the things he didn't manage to say and do with Kurt...

  • yeah with a lil push from courtney

  • Спасибо!

  • This song is so beautiful...it is a reminder of how sad it is that Kurt died :( and yet it gives me hope in the love a friend can have for another friend. :)

I read after Kurt died he was planning to some accoustic tracks with Micheal Stipe. How great that would have been.

  • Fuck this makes me cry...its so touching to hear this especially being played with Kurts guitar. I still haven't gotten over his death. I love him so damn much.

  • @HellsintowN2 get over it, he was a fucking loser.

  • @nicademus666 Your a bit of a dickhole, aren't you?

  • @nicademus666 Is that why people complain about him? He obviously had to have meant something if you took the time to bitch and complain.

  • @nicademus666 and going out of your way to make a rude comment about somebody you never even knew just to piss some fans of his off isn't acting like a loser at all right?.......enjoy your negativity...i'm sure it will serve you well in life. R.I.P KURT <3

  • Yeah all the stars who turn like water and promises to sea...Let me out, let me out. Where is the love between so many words of love? In the truth. From which it springs it must never go back. For no other reason than love itself .

  • yes sir this song is for river phoenix and kurt cobain...

amazing within 6 months both gone what a waste...

  • That would be a nice combination Micheal&Kurt!!!

  • It would have happened too, they were becoming quite close, collaboration would have been inevitable.

  • I think murded!!!...

  • he fuck you you dumb cunt what the fuck made you think it was murder or are you just to dumb to relise that it was a suicide you insensitive fuck

  • Grammer check next time.

  • Was he murded or suicide??

  • deffinatly suicide

  • big debate, some people think his wife killed him, like me, and some say he killed himself. but unless he comes back and tells us or courtney admits it no one will be eble to know. so might as well not argue about it

  • Jet445, His WIFE did not kill him. That's so old

  • I believe he was depressed and he comitted suicide. RIP, Kurt, we'll all see you soon enough

  • great song

  • this song was about kurt and another friend of michael stipe

  • river phoenix

  • ive just lost a mate to suicide, :(

  • listen the acoustic version..

  • he made this for curt, but at the end of the day was too late,he made it after he blow his head of not before, maybe if michael offer this advice before he would still be here???

  • He did, in an interview he said he called kurt and asked him to fly to atlanta to work on a song, that was 3days before he killed himself, so he did try.

  • michael stipe made this song in response to curt cubain death as the title say let me in..

  • fucking great song...R.I.P Cobain

  • RIP Kurt

  • this makes me depressed

  • this has always been so underrated from that album. It's got such a great sound.

  • What a great rock album Monster was. I think that it tends to get over looked when people think of the bands music.

  • vh1 should do a classic album for this album? dont you think
