  • Vegetable should not be eaten raw. The decision to cook or not cook depends on whether or not heat will release nutrients or inhibit them. Google Sally Fallon, Raw Foodists and you will see an article called The Right Price. Skip down to "Raw Foodists"

  • Is crystal light ok?

  • @mssugaraddict Just be careful of the amount of artificial sweeteners you consume. I believe that product has aspartame which I call NASTY-tame! You don't need it.

  • @mssugaraddict

Can't you squeeze your own lemons insteae of buying toxic refined and processed commercial food? You should never drink artificial sweetners. Jeez I thought low carb people were a little bit more informed but I can see I am wrong

  • Jimmy, the meat you eat is it grass fed? Does it matter if its grain fed meat?

  • Grass-fed is ideal, but not always affordable. I get it when I can and see any meat as better than carbs.

  • I just ran out and got myself some of that Diet Rite. I freakin love it. I think I'll drop my Diet Dew and do Diet Rite.

  • Smart move! :)

  • Does low carb living cause someone to act like him? I hope not

  • Love your videos...

I have been on the low carb thing off and on now for about 3 months,, Now i am 100 % commited to it ...

I dont drink anything but crystal light peach tea. I have been drinking that for 4 years now , ever since i was pregnant with my frst child. I have tried the low carb shakes and they were NASTY.

I am doing good so far ( lost 13 lbs my first week) but I am wanting SO SO bad to eat something with chocolate and lots of sugar.. How do I get over this craving?

  • THANKS Kim! There are low-carb chocolates out there and my favorite is ChocoPerfection bars. They even made a raspberry dark chocolate bar for me called the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar. Check it out on my blog. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

  • Jimmy Its your buddy Redneck500 here, I have a quick question about Crystal Lite, it says on the label 0 carbs, whats your take on that sir? thanks.

  • Hey Redneck500! Great question! It probably has more than 0 carbs and if my memory serves correct it has aspartame in it...something I try to avoid if at all possible. Otherwise, if it helps you transition from sugary soda or orange juice, then GO FOR IT!

  • i drink 2 times in my induction and i am on day 15 now,, any suggestions to make things ok? shit i screwed up as i didnt know :(

    another 14 days induction???

  • When you drink alcohol, it slows your progress because it's just like eating a piece of cake. The alcohol must be burnt up in the body before fat-burning can happen. You may not have to do Induction all over again, but it's not a bad idea to give yourself a fresh start. NO DRINKING!!! :)

  • thnx , no more Vodka :)

i smell a new induction in the air :(

2 hours of happiness when i had those glasses, now i ll pay the price.. 14 days of induction.. NO ALCOHOL guys, WATCH OUT

  • OMG you two are so cute together,I can't help but smile when I watch your shows.

The thing about alcohol made me sad at first but then I remembered a low carb substitue that I prefer...weed,Just gotta watch out for those munchies.

  • THANKS so much for watching!

  • Im having a little issue...the first week was great for my induction but the second week, the scale isnt moving as much...I'm worried...:(

  • THANKS for sharing your concerns, Carlitta. But one of the lessons you're gonna learn about livin' la vida low-carb is patience. Yes, you probably lost a lot of weight in the first week and it usually continues throughout Induction.

But sometimes our bodies go through all sorts of changes that can impact our weight. Don't get discouraged because these are temporary. Eating low-carb is making you healthier than you ever thought possible. STICK WITH IT!

I did a video on stalls, so watch it.

  • Great video! And I second the(or maybe it's third) notion that Christine's hair looks great. I also noticed that you started a discussion forum. Way to go and keep up the great work!

  • THANKS for sharing those sweet comments. I love it when Christine gets her hair styled that way. She looks GOOOOOOD! :)

Yep, there's a lot of stuff going on in the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb brand right now, including a new web site putting all of my projects in one place at LivinLaVidaLowCarb dote come. Check it out!

  • I have started induction today(it's a British LC plan called the IPD) and am doing okay. However I am really worried as I will have eaten 3000 calories by the end of the day (it's night time here). After the Eades post I am now paronoid about calories. It seems to me the less carbs I eat the higher my calories go as I eat more fat and protein. I don't eat to stuffed, just to satiety. I never watched cals when I originally lost the weight in 2002 yet now everyone seems obsessed with the calories.

  • I'm still not convinced you have to count calories during weight loss, Lynn. I never did at all during my 180-pound weight loss on the Atkins diet in 2004 and I still don't. Now, I have implemented cutting back on excesses as I am getting closer to my goal weight. But if you still have a lot of weight to lose, you shouldn't even worry at all about calories.

  • Well I only have 19lbs left to lose really (26lbs to get to my 'ideal'). And I am on induction. I have gone up 5lbs since coming off my metformin for my PCOS so I wanna give induction one final try before I go back to my metformin, moderate carbs and reducing calories.

It just seems all the LC boards now talk about calories. I would understnad if I was eating till I hurt but since I'm not it's worrying.

  • I can understand the confusion, but Dr. Atkins wrote this in his DANDR book: "There is no need to count calories...but they do matter. Gaining weight results from taking in more calories than you expend through exercise, etc....Research has shown that on a controlled carbohydrate program, more calories are burned than a low-fat/high-carb diet, so there is a certain metabolic advantage to the controlled carb approach. But understand that this does not give you a license to gorge."

  • hey could you talk about fiber while on induction? Great videos guys

  • THANKS! We addressed fiber sources in Episode 38 with all the salad greens and non-starchy veggies you can eat during Induction. Check it out and THANK YOU for watching. :D

  • Jimmy and Christine, another great video. It is good to have a refresher on induction. And it seems to me that 40 videos is something to celebrate. So congrats on 40 LLVLC You Tube videos!

  • THANKS for celebrating our 40th episode! We may do something semi-big at 50 or just wait until we hit 100 for a contest or something. :D THANKS so much for watching!

  • I take a multi vitamin plus, potassium another one is calcium, magnesium and zinc. Taking these has helped me with any leg cramps I might have because I am low carbing.

  • Oh, I agree about the potassium, Skeeter. That can come after the initial two-week period of Induction as I noted in the supplements video we made way back when. :D

  • I love Diet Rite sodas. I didn't think I would, but it's really good. My favorite flavor is tangerine. It reminds me of Sunkist, which is good. That shows how good the quality of taste is!

  • The Splenda/ACE-K blend they use is fabulous, although some people complain they are TOO sweet. To each his own--I LOVE 'EM!!! :)

  • Super cute haircut Christine!

I officially started Induction on Tuesday (I've just been low-carbing up till now but not being super strict about it) Anyway, I have the Atkins book right here but I'm too darn lazy to look at it so I really appreciate your videos.

And SHHHHHHH-ugar - I really wanted some red wine tonight :-(

  • You gonna do FABULOUS, bytemis! GO GET 'EM!!!

  • i love red wine

  • Gotta skip the red wine on Induction. :(

  • 5 star video Jimmy and Christine! Thanks for taking time to make it. Christine, your hair reminded me of an old 40's actress by the name of Veronica Lake she INVENTED what was called "peek-a-boo-bang"(hair bangs over one eye) JUST a little history lesson for you youngins :) night night all...

  • this has been a great series full of all kinds of information! thanks for all of the hard work you put into educating...and keeping it all "real".

  • We've enjoyed this! THANKS for watching.

  • Thans for another great video. These are relly interesting even if you are not living a hard core low carb lifestyle. Key

  • I appreciate you watching although you aren't a "hard core" low-carber. That's cool. There are healthy ideals involved with this way of eating that can apply to any lifestyle change.

  • Very good video! I got the fishy burps and wondered if the capsules were rancid. They made me feel like crap also! Wife is going back in induction Monday and like i good husband i will be joining her! Got to be supportive!

  • YOU GUYS CAN DO IT!!! What perfect timing for these videos. :)

  • Thanks for another great video!!

  • I appreciate you watching Teresa!
