@Sallieeeeee I know, right? I was wondering who the one person was who didn't like this. I understand the recording is rough and the sound is harsh and all that, but hell--this is Jonathan Larson himself singing this. This is history, and the guy's dead. This is about all we have as outsiders looking in. So what is there to not like here?
@Sallieeeeee I'm 14 and love every bit this guy wrote since I was about 3 or 4 (or since I can remember). He died before I was born but I still can sing every song from Rent, Tick Tick Boom, etc. by heart. Fucking legend. A shame that here in Germany no one has ever heard of Rent.
Ummm... is that Roger Bart singing in the background?? Roger was a good friend of Jonathan's and sang with/for him many times. I feel like it really looks like him and think it is...
this man is my hero. i dont know how many times ive said that on this video. but every time i see this i cry. for some reason, i feel more attached to him than anything else in the world. thank you, jonathan larson. you truly did something amazing. and im sure you're looking down on earth with pride. i love you.
saddest story i've ever heard in my life. he died, on the opening night of his masterpiece. he didnt even get to live for that. he lived on the verge of poverty to put on "rent" for us.
Look for local productions. I was lucky enough to find one at a community college around me. I honestly didn't think I'd ever get to see it live, but was shocked when I found out they were putting it on.
thank you for continuing to push me in my career and giving me inspiration to do so. thank you for being an inspiration to everyone and thank you for truly being such a huge influence into musical theatre !!
^I love how he alludes to two of my absolute favorite fantasies. And that is such a clever line, taking into consideration both the double meaning as his clock ticking down as he gets older (*SOB*!) and the crocodile having swallowed the clock in Peter Pan...don't know if he meant it like that, but it so works! Anyway, I LOVE this video. Raul is great, but there's something unbelievable about actually SEEING Jonathan.
Jonathan Larson was such an amazing compset. A musical Einstine if you ask me. Way to go Jon! I did a report on him for drama he's such an insparation. I looked in the discription this was only about 5 years before he died how sad :(
Hi, Jonny! I'm korean, 19-year-old. I'm loving you so much. I'm so sad cuz there's no jonny, no my lover in the world! i wanna go to broadway so that see a Rent, Tick...Tick...Boom! Thank you for giving me your musical.
tick...tick...BOOM isnt on broadway, never has been. RENT cam off broadway in September 2008, sorry, but RENT is on tour w/ members of the OBC cast so b happy!
@Sallieeeeee Exactly. I don't think anyone can truly appreciate Rent until they know the real works of Jonathan Larson. What's makes the story of Rent so special is the story of its creator!
Jonathan is such an insparation to me, he has changed my views and life in so many ways. I cant even express the way I feel about his music and work and story. For all of those who say rest in peace to Jonathan, I think it is very wierd for you to say that. He is very much alive through his music and in our hearts.
well im in the production RENT School Edition I am playing Collins and we were in New york city the other day to film for the finale scene while we were there our director is close friends with johnathons best friend victoria leacock and she took us around his area and showed us his apartment and told us all his storys and showed us his photo albums of pics with her and his family it was an amazing expierence to meet her and i will cherish every moment. I am doing a short "Documentary" on Jonathan for school and I don't know what I would have done if I actually got to see more pictures and learn more about him and his family. You are very lucky. = ) Break a leg.
