yeah, fine control input would probably be next to impossible. I would probably opt to get out just by the way he manipulates the controls....hands off the collective, etc. Love the lack of a two stage pickup and the constant side slip...i guess over there if you can buy it you can fly it :)

I spent a lot of time in one of these birds, and I just have to say it's
Fun to dump trash when flying over poor areas, while screaming look at me! Look at me! I got a freaken helicoptor you bunch of loosers. I hope he has as much fun with his as I do mine. Xxxxx000
@kvnfranks Helicopters are expensive to keep up in general. Is that true of the Robinson line???? Just see these things as a money pit. Seems like they need to be attached to a business to be practical.
@Malibucompany your looking at about $400,000 for the helicopter itself. Once you budget in fuel, maintenance, and a 2,200 hour overhaul your looking at an operating cost around $200 an hour. Then you need to factor in a fixed cost of about $10,000 per year for insurance. If you can afford the cost of the helicopter and the insurance they're really not that bad.
@kvnfranks What is it about helicopters that cost so much. Is it all the moving parts that have to work together? Tail rotor etc. Why the $10k for insurance. I am fixed wing pilot started flying C-150 at $11/hr. Discouraging. Seems the helicopter is to be owned by successful Businesses where the owner can play with it on weekends.
@kvnfranks i was wondering wat the hell he was doing... do u ugys do that for students alot? my instructer just gave my the stick and only took control when we would almost die..
Hard at first, but when you learn the controls (Cyclic, Collective, Anti-Torque Pedals and Throttle) it becomes easier. At least that is how it is for me. It is great fun though
No, the R44 and R22 both have this type of centre cyclic. It due to the cockpit being snug and they (Robinson) didn't want a normally sited cyclic to make it feel less tight and to make getting in and out easier.
So, the bar on the instructors side is only an attachment for training purposes? Normally, the cyclic would be the stick directly between the knees, right?
Robinsons have only one cyclic situated in between the pilots. since ellion is learning and "has control" on his side, the instructor's controls is situated high up his chest area.... he is assisting ellion by holding cyclic at the pivot point while ellion "has control"

I fly r22's and r44's every day as an instructor. holding the cyclic by the center of the T-bar would get old fast.

yer wat the fuck this pilot needs to learn where to hold the cycle stick
hahaha

actually, becuase the stick main post is in the center, it feels more "normal" and natural to put you hand over hte center. It's the same on the R22.
