Nobody can say anything bad about the Spitfire, It saved Britain from invasion and proved to be our greatest fighter Air-Craft early in the war. Without the Spitfire i dont think the Hurricane would have won the Battle of Britain(Biggest Air-battle in history)
@martynrobin121 both hurricane and spitfire are icons hurricane could absorb more damage and was a stable gun platform and could land on a field or concrete weras a spitfire was more fussy its undercarriage was more delicate it was a more temperamental plane and the hurricane shot down more planes than the spitfire its horses for courses and all history we must not forget
I'll take IL-2 1946 over this game any day of the week... that said its not a bad movie, think some people should cut the crap with aircraft formations, from what I saw in the movie neither side flew in any formation, the British V formation or the German Finger-Four formation, not even the German Heinkels were in any kind of order, which I guess would be hard to do for a movie on this game.
@CJLinton #1 You have no choice between IL-2 and Fighter ace..Fighter ace is gone . Spits and hurries had only mins to get up and find the HE-111 and ME-109's and were mostly under them by the time they got to them forget about formations ..And ya in the game it was hard to do. my friend made a few of the videos Try Fighter Ace LTD you will see a few of us in formation my call sign is Timberwolf or Timber : )

Hartmann came to the front in mid 1942 and only really started his killing spree in early-mid '43 when the Russians had come up with vastly improved fighters such as the La-5, Yak-1B, Yak-9 so he didnt at all benefit of the huge technical superiority of the German Luftwaffe early in the war. He even kept on flying the G-6 long into 1944 shooting down La-5FNs, La-7s and Yak-3s in that very plane. Much later he converted to G-14s, G-10s and the last plane he flew was a K-4.
No, only a handful of K-14s were ever made and those were sent to "Reichsverteidigungs" units fighting the Allied bombers at high altitudes. As Hartmanns flew on the Eastern Front and at much lower altitudes this would have been a waste. Besides the earlier K models were better at low-medium altitudes
I'd have to disagree, Hartmann's tactics, if I remember correctly, relied on getting in very close to the enemy aircraft before firing. I doubt circumstances during the battle would've allowed for such tactics, as the 109 was stretched to its maximum range, they had British AAA to contend with, the bombers to escort, etc etc. Hartmann is an outstanding pilot, of course, but it still wouldn't have made him the "Terminator" if he fought during the Battle.

You're forgetting that number 303 Squadron was all Polish, and happened to have the highest number of kills at the end of the Battle. You're also forgetting that the RAF lost around 500 aircraft during the Battle of Britain. Without 500 more foreign pilots, where would Britain be now?
Meaning no disrespect towards English pilots, they were also outstanding during the battle, but I believe foreign pilots should also be given credit here. PolakInHolland's statement rings true.
Britain single handedly won the Battle of Britain (some Pole pilots) and were decimated being located so close. Altho Russia as the Superpower of the allies killed over 7.7 million axis (75% +) then agreed to american pleas at feb 1945 yalta conference to assist in defeating lesser axis Japan after they finished Germans.. I have to read up on these brilliant men who flew for Britain- what brave men they were- I love these films although I get very emotional when I watch. It makes one realise how lucky they were to come back alive-!!!
I can testify to this as my own father was one of these fighter Pilots in world war 2. He saw his best friend being shot down in flames and there was nothing he could do but watch in horror!!!

The second most bvious giveaway, after the clear D-Day black and white markings, was that Spitfires weren't on bombing or strafing runs during the Battle of Britain. Who were they to strafe;- their own side?
The people who do these games--how much research do they ever do? The Spit in this game is obviously not a Mark I or II; it looks suspiciously like a Mark IX, as others have mentioned. The BoB Spits were pure fighters, with no bombing capability. And what about the zebra stripes? Aren't those about 4 years too early for 1940? I'm getting the impression that the people who create these games are also the same ones who make Hollywood movies. Research? Authenticity? Huh?
In the game you have hundreds of types of planes to choose from theres atleast 6 diffent spits even a seafire tempest etc good vid the start of the film looks like a "warm up" to the film

Beginners compare it well. However, it is a well-known fact that IL2 is a high picture and rial than FA. Did this video let an IL2 user repeat the argument again? Such a thing does not matter.
With only material of the FA, it is what such a video can make. It is only merely it.
Fighter Ace may have a good online but it crashes compaired to il2'46. With il2 you can skin the airplane, make noseart, and custimizer maps,thats some FA can't do, Also Il2'46 has a free server for online play for up to 128 players.
iv played both FA and IL2 and all though the graphic's of the ground objects could be better in FA the flying is far more like a real plane in FA. I'v flown a real cesna before and FA is a lot like it IL2 is more like BF1942 to arcadeish and unrealistic
But still IL2 is fun. If you want realisum go with fa.Nice work on the vid jack love the sound 5*
I've played FA before. I think the FM's in il2 are more realistic than FA. Over at Mission4Today we have real ww2 pilots that say the game does justice to the aircraft. Oleg did an incredible job, knowing we have over 300 aircraft.
i just dont like the way the planes in IL2 handle,in the cockpit i try to pull a loop and it doesn't seem real in FA it does something about the altitude in IL2 doesn't seem true to life in FA it does. Plus i like the bullit tracers better in FA.
1946 is a great game, as are all the IL2 series but there not a massive online multiplayer game. FA is and you can not have great graphics and when you have to be able to have 100+ in a single room. For example The recent Historical events have had between 150-200+ players in one room, now thats something the Il2 series cant do.

You're forgetting that number 303 Squadron was all Polish, and happened to have the highest number of kills at the end of the Battle. You're also forgetting that the RAF lost around 500 aircraft during the Battle of Britain. Without 500 more foreign pilots, where would Britain be now?
Meaning no disrespect towards English pilots, they were also outstanding during the battle, but I believe foreign pilots should also be given credit here. PolakInHolland's statement rings true.

Britain single handedly won the Battle of Britain (some Pole pilots) and were decimated being located so close. Altho Russia as the Superpower of the allies killed over 7.7 million axis (75% +) then agreed to american pleas at feb 1945 yalta conference to assist in defeating lesser axis Japan after they finished Germans.. I have to read up on these brilliant men who flew for Britain- what brave men they were- I love these films although I get very emotional when I watch. It makes one realise how lucky they were to come back alive-!!!
I can testify to this as my own father was one of these fighter Pilots in world war 2. He saw his best friend being shot down in flames and there was nothing he could do but watch in horror!!!

the graphics leave much to be desired.The opening part, bombing the aa guns doesn't seem real enough compared to the other scenes. Overall, great vid! The music timing is perfect!

invasion stripes on plane in the opening scene put it in Jun 44, likely a Spit Mark IX?
Planes involved in the rest of the vid looked like Spit Mark I, as they would be in 1940

The second most bvious giveaway, after the clear D-Day black and white markings, was that Spitfires weren't on bombing or strafing runs during the Battle of Britain. Who were they to strafe;- their own side?

I think the main volume of this video to be a picture start one minute later, the London sky, formation takeoff of Mk.Ia, a battle of Dover.
Naturally Sheen of the stripe pit is not BOB.
By the way, "Eagle" means "TEAM EAGLE sqd" of "Game-FighterAce" not "1940 US Eagle squadron".

Eagle was indeed the Allied effort to control the skies over Normandy on June 6, 1944 and after.
I teach History, including a lecture on the Battle of Britain. This is 1944 in the video.

Hurricanes were better against German bombers because they took more punishment and were steadier during final attack.
Spits of course took on the 109s. The opponent of the Mark XI was usually the far better matched FW-190.

Actually, this whole thing seems to be 1944, not 1940. The ground terrain is not Brit. And there are no Hurricanes taking out the bombers.
This thing must be about June, 1944, in Normandy.

The people who do these games--how much research do they ever do? The Spit in this game is obviously not a Mark I or II; it looks suspiciously like a Mark IX, as others have mentioned. The BoB Spits were pure fighters, with no bombing capability. And what about the zebra stripes? Aren't those about 4 years too early for 1940? I'm getting the impression that the people who create these games are also the same ones who make Hollywood movies. Research? Authenticity? Huh?

I bought IL2 1946 when it first came out, ive logged over 4,000 kills 11 deaths, 5 crash landings 4,667 safe landings and four bails. Online..against the most experienced pilots i have met. (BF-109 G2 II./JG53Vinum) HyperLobby.

Beginners compare it well. However, it is a well-known fact that IL2 is a high picture and rial than FA. Did this video let an IL2 user repeat the argument again? Such a thing does not matter.
With only material of the FA, it is what such a video can make. It is only merely it.

Fighter Ace may have a good online but it crashes compaired to il2'46. With il2 you can skin the airplane, make noseart, and custimizer maps,thats some FA can't do, Also Il2'46 has a free server for online play for up to 128 players.

iv played both FA and IL2 and all though the graphic's of the ground objects could be better in FA the flying is far more like a real plane in FA. I'v flown a real cesna before and FA is a lot like it IL2 is more like BF1942 to arcadeish and unrealistic
But still IL2 is fun. If you want realisum go with fa.Nice work on the vid jack love the sound 5*

I've played FA before. I think the FM's in il2 are more realistic than FA. Over at Mission4Today we have real ww2 pilots that say the game does justice to the aircraft. Oleg did an incredible job, knowing we have over 300 aircraft.

i just dont like the way the planes in IL2 handle,in the cockpit i try to pull a loop and it doesn't seem real in FA it does something about the altitude in IL2 doesn't seem true to life in FA it does. Plus i like the bullit tracers better in FA.

1946 is a great game, as are all the IL2 series but there not a massive online multiplayer game. FA is and you can not have great graphics and when you have to be able to have 100+ in a single room. For example The recent Historical events have had between 150-200+ players in one room, now thats something the Il2 series cant do.
