Very nice, this is the first time , I heard this piece, and it is difficult not to go back and play it again.
I also see a perfect and precise playing, and a right interprétation (as in the prelude N°1 of Villa lobos). (I am not a professionnal guitar player , as I only play for my pleasure ..) I liked very much you video , keep playing !!!
Do you know where to buy the this sheet of music ? I am really interested to play it myself

I'm sorry - I am hooked. Just listened again and cannot believe just how much melody and backing you can tease out of a single instrument at one time. This is really beautiful and I love the way your serenity wavers for just an instant at about 1.53!
We were just about to fly out of the door this morning when I heard a tune on Classic FM which stopped me in my tracks - Andecy! Never heard it, of it or of Andrew York before. I think they said it was played by Sharon Lisbon ? We got back from our trip, straight on You Tube to find it and found Sam playing it - it is as captivating as I felt it was this morning. Played beautifully and watching has shown me it is more intricate than I realised. Thanks Sam - your post is on my favourites now.
@muzzers1 I heard the same piece this morning on Classic FM, & like you I was mesmerised. The artist was Sharon Isbin. She has a number of posts on youtube. Up to now, I had always considered her third rate compared to the best classical guitarists (Bream, Williams, et al). Since hearing her play this piece, I have to say, she has moved up a few notches in my estimation. Either she has had Bream's hands transplanted onto her arms, or else she has sold her soul to the devil. Absolutely brilliant.
This tune speaks to me of someone in a new place, having a walk. He/she is experiencing new things. Some times thinking about something... a memory.... a ponder... asking "what if." And other times thinking about nothing. Simply enjoying the moment. Thank you so much for posting. :D
I love playing this particular song so much I named my child Andecy. For real. Drives my wife crazy that we named her after a guitar piece, but the name is beautiful.
Hi Maria! I wonder if Andrew York had that in mind when he wrote this! I've always thought of this as a travelling piece. I used to listen to it on my discman when I was on the train going up to the RCM! Thanks for watching and best wishes,
@sammu5 That was Really Memorable! I wrote to Andrew many years ago to inquire about the inspiration of the song. He said he was touring France with his wife (girlfriend?) and they came upon a beautiful field in a little village called Andecy. He said it wasn't on the map! They had a picnic there and he started the progression that eventually became my favorite York tune. :-)
Such a perfect match with the pictures to the mood. The calm before the storm. The fingers dancing on the churning waters. The serene aftermath. All done with such precision and perfect timing. You make it look so effortless. This is my favorite one yet. Smiles to you and Josie. Well done. Pamela
Muy buena interpretacion.. tocas la mayoria de los temas que me gustan en la guitarra!!.. me puedes mandar esa partitura?? "beyacone" es mi correo adios.. gracias..hot mail
you played the song beautifully, I have watched it many time and am currently learning the piece, I'm trying to get the last difficult passage now. I was wondering what guitar you are playing, I play an alvarez and am looking at upgrading someday and your guitar sound great.
HI there, great playing. I like the sound you produce, very clean. Nice nice. Now, i would like to know if you happen to have the music sheet for this song, I've been trying to find it, but is quite hard. Thx for your your music and if you could help me getting the papers or sending them to me through the web. Thx again and congratz
Hi Samantha, is a beautiful interpretation. I would ask a question. I have searched this score, but here in Chile in very complicated find, then my questions is if there is possibility of a scanner of the music, please!
Andrew's compositions are nearly always beautiful and challenging and this one is no exception You tackle this piece with such polish and class leaving me only one choice...5 worthy stars
Wow that was perfect! I've been playing that song not quite right for the past 15 years. I'm going to be studying this video frame by frame. If you can play the J.S. Bach Allegro from Andrew York's Perfect Sky album, please make a video of that too!!!
This is probably the best version Ive seen of this beautiful song and Ive seen quite a few. The voicings are imaculate. I should think Andrew York would be flattered. Im stunned.
Dear Lilly! I find this piece really haunting. I'm glad you like it. I really enjoy playing it! Thanks for your kind comment and Happy New Year! Best wishes fro 2010,
Lovely playing, Sam. The piece has a sort of "travelling" quality to it.....not quite sure what I mean by that, though, just a feel to the music, I guess. I wasn't familiar with Andrew York, but I'll check out some more of his music. Have you listened to any of Steve Hackett's classical guitar-based albums at all? If you get a chance, you you might find some nice pieces to re-interpret and post :-)
Hi Jim! I used to listen to this piece when I was travelling up to London on the train so I agree about the "travelling" quality. Thanks for the tip about Steve Hackett. I'll check him out! Best wishes, sam :-D
Hi gallito1010! Andrew York's pieces sit well under the fingers and are a pleasure to play - so well worth the practise! Thanks and best wishes, sam :-)

My favourite Andrew York piece - beautifully played, Sam! I love the relaxed
swing it has - reminds me of sitting on the back of an elephant (not a pig)
swaying through the jungle...
Sweet smiley pig, yes... looks as though he might have a relaxed swaying gait...
