  • note the hand movements, this is conclusive proof that this man is another "puppet"

bend over gorden & david and let the bankers dominate you !!!

  • A bunch of leftie, commie, layabout scum - Is this ponce going to shoot the unemployed or hang murderers or tell the French to Fuck Off - of course not. What a waste.

  • Tories make me squirm.

  • I feel I'll just looking at them

  • The only despicable campaign is yours Mr Cameron. What experience do you have that makes the right man to run the country? As far as I can see, you have no policies and your cynical campaign focusses on using irritating, obvious PR stunts to try and gain ground. You will only make enemies using this strategy and this alone makes you unfit for government.

  • Please stop regurgitating Labour propaganda, no-one is buying it.

  • You must be an absolute nutter if you support this guy. Everything he says makes me cringe! I'm not regurgitating Labour propoganda, in fact I think Labour could do a lot better and would be better off without Brown leading. But since the alternative would be Cameron, I would be mad not to support Labour! Lets face it, the Lib Dems aren't gonna win and there aren't any other political parties that stand a chance. Seriously, do you believe this conservative "now for change" rubbish? gimme a break

  • The reason I thought you were regurgitating propaganda was that you said they have no policies. Policies - look on their website, watch any Cameron interview. You also dismissed campaigns by this one party as "irritating, obvious PR stunts". If you say that, you must surely attribute that fault to Labour as well - indeed, Labour is MORE annoying and obvious. You must realise that the main way for any opposition to gain any ground is to campaign like this and make their views and ideas known.

  • It is how the system works and how people have informed votes.

This buries your "unfit for government" line. You say that "Labour...would be better off without Brown leading", yet the arguments you have used against the Tories have all been used by Brown regularly in PMQs.

    However...

I just saw Cameron interviewed by Andrew Marr about the result of the Lisbon treaty, and his painfully obvious failure to commit to a referendum regardless might lead me to vote UKIP or abstain altogether.

  • I agree i think Gordon should step down

  • Chloe fought an excellent fight, won by miles, and made good sense throughout. Labour might try to paint this as some sort of anomaly, but the simple fact is that most of the nation now believes that a change is overdue. For me, the only problem is the name of the party. conservative? small "c"? Makes no sense. I'm more radical that any labour voters I know, but i'm radically in favour of personal freedom. And that's why I just joined the party. Forwards!

  • Oh bull shit she won because most of the labour voters did not turn out and looking at the comments above they seem to be regretting it. Chloe Smith just nods and agrees with SCAMeron. Have you seen Ozzy's economic policies what a bunch of crap. I feel sorry for you brain washed in to joining the CONservatiives! With con being the operative word.

  • @lowestoftbus

you seem pretty sore about this - better lube up before the general election

  • HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! You better take your rose tinted glasses off! As i heard you opened an internet cafe and called TW@. Coming form someone who is called andrew Herpes's!!!!

  • @andrewsurtees

The Conservative Party is primarily linked to the philosophy of tradition. Your radical preference for personal freedom sounds like excessive liberalism.

  • @andrewsurtees And your view now is...??

  • First of all: Forget multiculturalism and don't let soc-libs dictate the tempo.

  • The trouble is David Cameron and probably 95% of the current Conservative party really know what a true conservative is..

If David Cameron really wants to be true Conservative is and stand for freedom and liberty then he should look at former 2008 republican presidential candidate Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is probably one of only a few sensible and trustworthy politicians left in the world.

If you really care about this country Mr Cameron then forget your ego and look on the side of freedom.

  • On the labour channel you have to get your comments approved, and they have disabled ratings. Its sick.

  • I pity you then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I rather trust him then the current prime minister gordon hoax. Conservatives 2010!

  • You seriously trust Cameron and his fox-hunting friends?

  • He would be a perfect prime minister for UK after the collapse Gordon and labour have done for UK.

  • Well, he is not my cuppa tea but neither is poor old Gordy. I think he will become pm most definitely, and he at least shows more leadership than Gordy pants.

  • Fox hunting is one issue from thousands. however Camron's crew has more issues down pat than the current corrupt goverment :-)

  • My god do you open your curtains much. If you think the conservatives have the answer you may as well jump off the nearest bridge. I pity you!

  • Good, the sooner the better.

  • Public school twat, he and the rest will be taking money just like Labour when they get in power, get corrupt and waste a tonne of money. They don't care about our country and they would all see this Island become a wasteland and the work horse of Europe. Europe will drag the UK down and destroy us. Time to leave before we no longer control our own government or courts. No party wants to leave Europe currently because all the parties have gone to Brussels, a real anti-EU party would just not go

  • What's wrong with him being froma public school?

  • IMO, Its not necessarily that in itself, it is the fact that this man surrounds himself with a majority of close friends that he went to school with. For that reason alone he would not understand much about the average joe's life. So if he reaaaally wants to relate to the public and 'real' reality - then you have to question this inward-looking click.

  • She sounds like Hazel Blears eeek!!!

  • I hope everyone continues to wake up to this 'Red team v. Blue team' farce.

If we don't speak up then we will get the leaders we deserve.

    YOU can make a difference.

  • When exactly?

  • english politicians are greedy bastards who only want to take as much money for themselves as possible.

  • I have never known so many wasters in the pittance of existence so happy to die, man is lazy fallen to the nature of the beast that takes you all that is evil death against my will abominating I do not decide when you die not worth saving anyway.

    Its going to go black.

  • I said its going to rain and they lazy like you did nothing when they could have done something my great deluge and they were gone not worth saving anyway, no sooner had my ark made land the problem had not gone away and today am telling you all its going to go black do something or be gone not worth saving anyway.

  • "try and scare people" What the hell is Cameron talking about - The Conservatives have a habit of doing this - making out the recession to be worse than it is etc. - they are worse at scare mongering than any other party in Britain.

  • AndrewBenMcKay, the conservatives are telling the truth about the recession and our huge crisis facing the countrys books.. Its labour that are pretending otherwise simply for politial reasons

  • They said that Britain is worse placed than any other EU country - this is not true - unemployment and debt are much higher in France and Germany.

  • People should vote lib dem or green party if they want change

  • Next stop 10 Downing Street. The Labour Govermant is finished and good riddance.

  • KING.

    OFFICIAL 2009 UK EARTH JC2000RTN.

  • Idiot.

  • WOW a 16.5% swing v well done all.Keep up the good work.

  • Ultimatum final statement of conditions to be accepted without discussion by the 1st of August 2009 Kadhigher if not then a state of war exists between God and man.

  • It was a Labour MP (Ian McCartney) who fiddled his expenses including buying champagne flutes. Another of the Champagne Socialists

  • Labour is about control of the people of Britain. Whether it is through spin or by legislation. More oppressive legislation has been passed by this Labour government than ever before. They treat the UK public with contempt and as if they are fools. Good-bye Labour we pray we never see your like again. See this by-election result as the rise of the public against your oppression.

  • Well done Chloe and everyone in Norwich - what a fantastic result. You'll have to do it again in the next year though!

    Regards

  • Poiticians are hoping we've forgotten their institutional corruption. The biggest robbery of all was when they gave our taxes to the banks to rescue them. Now they hike up (rare) mortgages, whilst interest rates are at their lowest ever!!!

banks and politicians despise us and we should reciprocate!!! Very clever, well done David and Gordon, you colluding swine!!!

  • if neone believes this muppet who swigs champagne and goes on holidays that cost in excess of £11,000 a week, your in for trouble.

  • antoire - you insult muppets by comparing the goon Cameron to them. If people think they have had it bad the last 12 years (discounting working and child tax credits of course, plus minimum wage and better Christmas fuel bonuses for pensioners) all I can say is they ain't seen nuthin' yet. If the Hooray Bullingdon Club animal-slaughtering Henrys get into power (God help us all!) things are going to get even worse.

  • Murmeration, people have had it too easy these past 10 years... public spending has gone out of control and we cant just keep printing money like there is no tomorrow.

The next few years are going to be harder for many, we have no option.. many countries are making major cuts to services.

  • fantastic, great result

im just waiting for the general election now, i want labour gone.

  • nice one David the problem is now persuading the pretend priminister to actually give up his default seat!

  • It looks very much like middle England is in the mood for a Conservative government and David Cameron as PM, but same certainly can't be said for Scotland.

They will be doing well to get more than 3 or 4 seats at the next election, which is hardly a mandate to govern here. They will be viewed as being imposed on us by the English.

How the Tories react to this and deal with the Scottish Parliament will decide the future of the union and whether or not it carries on.

  • Akava77 that is my main concern. I am sick of labours awful policies and England certainly needs tory government to clean up some of the mess, but with salmond running Scotland its risky to have a tory government, especially one thats going to have to impose tough cuts for every part of the UK.

However the SNP hardly have a mandate to govern, 37% voted SNP in Scotland in the 2007 parliament election, over 60% voted for unionist parties, yet they push their separatist agenda on all.

  • The SNP got more votes and more seats than the other parties in 2007, so they do have a mandate as a minority government. It's hard to see the Tories in the future being even the 2nd party in Scotland, never mind the largest.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the SNP are pushing a separatist agenda on all. At the moment there is no majority of support in Holyrood to hold a referendum, although if the Tories misrule Scotland as they did in the 1980s and 90s, anything could happen in the future.

  • QUOTE akava "if the Tories misrule Scotland as they did in the 1980s and 90s"

Would you consider the removal of the Barnet Formula, which sees us working our balls off to support extra Scottish services, would you consider that misrule ?

  • Yes in the medium term I would be happy with that, as long as Scotland was allowed to have full fiscal autonomy, which would include full control of 100% of oil and whisky revenues.

Although as a long term goal I would like to see an independent Scotland one day, I am a realist and do think that this something that cannot be achieved overnight. Any suggestion that Scotland would automatically become independent as an immediate result of a Tory election win is probably a bit far fetched.

  • I support the idea of full fiscal autonomy for Scotland including control of north sea oil assets. That would certainly take away some of the key SNP arguments and stop them from blaming wesminster for everything.

Although it should be pointed out its not like Scotland is being ripped off right now. Despite oil being considered a UK resource, expenditure in Scotland / for Scotland matches that of total revenue from Scotland (including north sea oil)

  • QUOTE akava77 "which would include full control of 100% of oil revenues."

I think you make a misjudgement regarding this.

When the North Sea borderlines were originally drawn up, they were done so based on Geography, Influence, and Power.

Our Oil rights were based on a hugely powerful and influential United Kingdom.

If England had been negotiating for itself as Scotland, Scotland would recieve far less than it thinks it is entitled to.

Scotlands insignificance would have influenced this.

  • They only got one more seat than labour and they won it with a majority of just 48 votes. They do have a mandate to govern, but they dont have a mandate for their core policy of independence because 60% voted for parties strongly opposed to that

I think they are pushing a separatist agenda on all, brainwashing and using tax payers money to fund separatist propaganda like the National Conversation

I agree tories will struggle in Scotland, thats why im worried.. i hope they dont make mistakes

  • There's only one way to decide on whether or not there's a mandate for independence - a referendum.

If the unionist parties keep refusing one then could we reach the point where the SNP get a majority of seats in Scotland without a majority of votes, and somehow that would be considered a mandate for independence? I hope not, the best way is a straight yes or no question.

The National Conversation covers a range of options of which independence is one, more than can be said for Calman.

  • The national convsersation is a talking shop, where salmond and go to promote and push their agenda at the tax payers expense. I doubt very much that at these events theres an equal number of pro / anti independence speakers.

When the majority of Scots vote for the SNP ofcourse there must be a referendum, just 35% (when 60% is for parties strongly opposed to one) doesnt give them a mandate for one as far as im concerned.

    And it wouldnt solve anything

  • If 60% voted for the union to continue and 40% voted for independence, the SNP are not just going to go away sadly. We saw in Canada a vote on independence for Quebec fail, then a decade or two later a second was held, which also failed.. separatism wont die out if we hold a referendum

If the vote is lose say 45% / 55% then that would be seen as a reason to continue fighting for independence. Its only in unionists interests to hold one if we an secure a huge majority, which probably wont happen

  • If the tories do win they should certainly avoid renewing trident or pushing for nuclear power in Scotland.

  • At last - something we both agree on :-) I never thought I would see the day

  • Back to the Tories. I don't think there is so much hatred / fear of them any more in Scotland as there was in the past. A few years ago I was horrified at the idea of a Conservative government. Now I have accepted this will happen in a matter of months, they can't be too much worse than New Labour and just hope their majority won't be too big. It wouldn't do any harm to have a couple of moderate Scottish Tory MPs, like when Malcolm Rifkind was able to curb the worst excesses of Thatcherism.

  • I also think in terms of personality, David Cameron might not make too bad a UK Prime Minister, he would certainly be no worse than Gordon Brown.

Although one small concern I have about Cameron is that he does remind me a lot of Tony Blair, including his good and bad points. It's the rest of the Conservative party I worry deeply about - they haven't convinced me at all they have changed.

The only Tory minister I ever had any time for was Ken Clarke, it's good to see him on the front bench

  • And I do have to commend them for one thing, at least they allow people to make free comments on their youtube page good and bad, Labour either disable commenting, pre-mod all comments or they just remove anything they don't like on theirs.

  • Labours censorship really is awful yes. I can understand them approving comments on goevrnment channels.. like the UK foreign office but not on he labourparty one..

Exactly the same happened in the US recent elections too. Obama channel censored comments, the McCain camp allowed anyone to post anything.

  • As for a large tory majority, the trouble is labour hold such a big majority still they need a huge landslide to get back into power

Agreed on cameron being a new tony, i hope its not the case and he follows through on things hes said. They have the policies and ideas that sound great but if they come to power they may be a let down. seen in America the huge hope to get rid of bush, now hes gone they still have as many problems if not more

Totally agree on Ken Clarke. shame he aint chancellor

  • One good thing now will be they wont be running the important things to most people like education and Health, these are matters for the Scottish parliament and even if the tories are imposing cuts.. its for the Scottish government to justify certain wasteful policies and run these things

There are separatists going around saying a tory win will secure the SNP huge support., im not convinced thats the case. For a start as soon as labour are out of power they might be able to restore some votes

  • congrats from USA chloe wooot

  • I think he's promised several times but the media ignore him so as to stoke up your lot.

And Norwich North is already suffering ebcause of this government as is the rest of the country.

  • i voted labour in 97 ,it took only 1 year to realised i made a big mistake.good for the conseratives the only viable goverment.

  • Congratulations Chloe, we are all waiting for the day that this dishonest Prime Minister gets the boot and we can look forward to better times under a Conservative Government. Your honesty is very refreshing. Best Wishes,

  • I'm lovin it lovin it lovin it! Maggie Thatcher would be proud of them - 1 more year and the socialists will be gone 4 eva

  • If only! I would be much happier voting for them if they offered that bag of goodies. Plus an increase in defence spending and they'll have my vote. But sadly Cameron isn't a Thatcherite, he's a One Nation Tory and will be like Macmillan - who expanded the welfare state.

  • Thatcherism is specific to the 1979-1990 period.

No one other than Maggie and her ministers can rightfully call themselves Thatcherite. Thatcherism came about in response to the crisis of the 70's and the Soviet Union and over the 11 years it changed quite dramatically (privatisation was never mentioned before 1983 for example).

  • Wrong: there are still those in the Conservative party who consider themselves Thatcherite. Alan Duncan for example, who is part of the neo-Thatcherite think tank 'Conservative Way Forward', with the by line 'keep the spirit of 1979 alive'. Google/wikipedia it.

  • i like fox hunting

  • The minimum wage drives down wages and forces companies to employ cheap migrant labour anyway.

  • Congratulations Chloe on your well deserved victory. Hopefully this is just the start of a wider change in this nation.

  • Well done Chloe!

    Greetings from Devon

  • So when the people at the top of the Socialist party are getting their "fat-cat" salaries, they're right in doing so? I call that hypocritical.

  • toss and poss

  • I suspect this election had more to do with the lack of faith in Brown across the country than any electioneering in Norwich itself (largely based on a very hostile press, it has to be said)

As for Mr Cameron talking about positive campaigning, can I take this as the start of the Conservatives telling us what THEY are going to do when they win the general election (a racing certainty at this point) rather than what Labour aren't doing? As that's all I've heard from them thus far.

  • All that said... as someone who spends more time getting his news from a variety of sources online rather than one traditional media outlet, can I just take a moment to applaud Mr Cameron's team for at least allowing comments on their videos, I think it's a disgrace that the 10DowningStreet channel doesn't allow discussion on their shockingly poor videos.

Should (or, perhaps, when) then Conservatives get elected, I hope they take a leaf from the White House approach to new media.

  • Britain should hang its head in shame. an experienced well respected politician hounded out of office by the british press and replaced by , a very intelligent young lady, but inexperience 27 year old wordly naive first time politician.

  • William Pitt the Younger was 21.

Robert Jenkinson was 20 and went on to be the longest serving PM ever.

Sorry, the whole "inexperiance" argument doesn't really cut it anymore.

  • This man was so experienced that he excelled at abusing his expenses.
