  • So, more caltrans for the Surfliner? Any news on that? Sounds awesome!

  • Thanks. no, I have not see any update for this one.

  • SICK!

  • Metrolink should use Metro North and Conndot's Shoreliners and P32ACDMs.

  • So rare NJT with the Surfliner passing and pulled by Union Pacific. Amtrak sprung for the decent cars too for The San Joaquins. Septa went for the crap of the lot and slapped some cheaply cut Septa decals on the NJT logos. The paint is scratched and the decals are crooked. I hope Amtrak decals them nice. Great shot. (if you get a chance for a laugh look up the cars Septa got from NJT)

  • what the hell whyare there NJt car in cali lol wow jersey love in cali lmao

  • well, Metrolink & Amtrak are going to use them.

  • and UTA

  • NJT is expanding, welcome to the United States of New Jersey!

  • so they r gonna be on the san joaquins!

  • yea, that's what Amtrak said.

  • great cant wait to see em

  • nice video dude

  • Thanks!

  • Snuffy had it correct, that the cars will eventually make it up to the San Joaquins. There will be two trainsets of them, and the cars will be refurbished in Utah. Nice catch, hope Metrostink enjoys them, they're good cars for commute service.

  • I don't know I would enjoy riding these old train sets when I go to Fresno by San Joaquins. I guess San Joaquins is not Amtrak's first priority? They also need to add bathrooms and cafe car.

  • Metrolink is using NJT cars because Sounder wants their stuff back as of last month.

  • it will be late spring to add these NT cars in service.

  • Metrolink has Sonder, ACE, borrowed Coaster, and now is useing NJT cars. The commuter train world is being sucked into the vortex of Metrolinks doom, OH THE HUMANITY.

    (sigh) Ok, I'm good.

  • take a look at that amtrak arriving when the other train departs.

  • yes, it's a busy train station.

  • i geuss they went to up for the trip west

i wander if it was with freight cars going across or what

  • yea, that cars were rear on the freight train.

  • Septa called dibs first!

  • dibs?

  • In other words Septa got these old cars first. Mertolink are just riding the band wagon.

  • Does SEPTA got those cars also?

Some went to UTAH and maybe other city, not sure about other city.

  • Septa, Metrolink, Frontrunner, North Star, and Sounder.

  • what other city? be specific

  • You know I think they were transferring to another city and these NJ Transit passenger cars got displaced from NJ Transit and some NJTs old Comet cars are on UTAH,I bet they are on other transit system as commuter rail is different other city in US.

  • Great catch, and excellent quality! Thanks for sharing it.

  • you are welcome!

  • Great catch!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Ha they gave yall the f*%#ed up cars those horns are so terrible youll be praying for a P2. LOL good luck cause ya gonna need. But cool video 5* and fav.

  • They will be between the engine and the regualr cars, so thankfully. No one will hear them.

  • Damn I love our comet Is.......great catch!!

  • Thanks. that was very lucky catch.

  • Nice cool rare catch Snuffy;)

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • Thanks!

  • There's gonna be trouble when they can't train-line the doors!

  • Cant wait to ride them at least once!

  • Excellent video and amazing rare capture.

Why a UP diesel? That's a freight engine for a freight railroad. And long hood forward, cab car wrong way (they probably ran it around)? This running revenue service is just wrong. Next time just borrow a diesel from Amtrak or some other passenger RR. But hey, this video is great work, very nice.

  • that UP5361 pulled Coast Starlight the day before this event and may be Metrolink decided to use that unit for their cars.

  • Wow Metrolink must be desperate.

  • Yup. you got that right!

  • Never saw NJT coaches hit the west before. Those are the old Comet 1's.

  • How old are they? 20 years?

  • They are rebuilds from the original Slider Comet I's, which are from the Erie Lackawanna, back in 1969. These, however, have been converted so that they can serve both high and low level platforms. Note the trap door in the last car.

  • Thanks for the follow up!

  • the farthest out was NJT went was Indiana

  • When will Metrolink get there new cars?

  • Metrolink says this month.

  • I was on the Gold Line and saw it too, makes for an interesting "Rainbow Fleet" for sure!

  • I'm surprised you did not go and check it out!

  • Yeah was nearly dead tired when I saw them.

  • STUPID Metrolink, those are awful!!!!!

  • What else are they going to do? They were looking to lease cars and this is all that's out there.

New Metrolink cars will arrive in late 2009.

  • Rent more from Sounder or start from Railrunner, Tri-Rail, Cal Train, even AMTRAK or GO transit, something else!

  • There are no cars to lease. That's the problem. Metrolink has to take what they can get.

  • It's sad that Metrolink is the only company that new loco is still not in service and so many accidents.

  • because metrolink wanted there loco's different then the other RR's so now they don't run properly!

  • i saw those cars yesterday, btw, metrolink ordered 2 new mp36's, there still at the yard im assuming

  • Metrolink has four new engines but not in service yet.

  • what are the other two?

  • MP36(888 ~ 891)

  • all mp36's, caltrain has about 8 of those, they look pretty cool, just an f59, but a little longer

  • Good video, but damnit, i wish we still had those, 5116 has a amazing S3L, and if you could tell metrolink NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT EVVVVEEERRRRRR take those horns off

  • no worries. right now, Metrolink desperately needed these old semi retired cars until new cars arrive!

  • I thought the fact that Metrolink was going to use NJT cars was a myth. Guess not. NJT has been passing out their equipment like it's nothing lately.

  • sadly, it's our BEST cars

  • Hey, it's better than scrapping them. That's probably where they would've been heading if it weren't for these leases.

  • UTA has taken our COmet Is! OH DEAR!

  • UTA has taken our COmet Is! OH DEAR!

  • Any idea on what kind of new equipment is Metrolink getting? More bombardier stuff?

  • Pretty much. The new cabcars are going to be more of a box shape w/ a nose similar to the F59PHI.

  • wow really great catch, nice job!

  • Thanks! It was lucky catch!
