When removing the insides...did just unscrew the CRT out or did you discharge first as a safety precaution, and if so, did you use a resistor or ground clip to do it? Thanks.

Aside: if you jailbreak it and install sbsettings, i think you can access the "home toggle" and that will bring you back to the springboard, no button needed.
