What is going on with this company!? Like it haven't been enough to stop production of all other Technics hi-end products like the amp, HiFi, their speakers etc. Is really sad. I adore their Technics stereos and been a fan since I ever sat eye on one for the first time and been loyal ever since. Just purchased a stunning receiver the SA TX 30 with a rare golden "Master Reference" signature on it. This detail as far I know, was only used on the TX 50. I miss Technics :(
R.I.P ta da greatest DJ decks eva made...got me first pair in 1985...and then again updated to da 1210 mk2's...its such a sad day for not only DJ's but hardcore BBoys n Bgirls worldwide...my massive Ols Skool hip hop collection is now sadly in me loft...will it see another block/house party ever again...who knows
I had the chance to get a good deal on a technics 1200 m3d model practically new.. it's a shame they are not making them no more. I was really looking forward for these decks to go on for while more. Best decks for any bboy jam that's for sure.
i still see heeeeeeeeeelllllla sites selling em and even if its true that there gunna stop making em i dont think itll be very long before they start making them again
I've been using my SL1210 MK5s for 6 years now and still luving it! The price of MK6 dropped $200 here in Japan. It's now around $500. I'm getting a fresh pair (silver) before it's too late. (-;
I've had my 1210 mk 2 for over 15 yrs and they're rock solid. They been everywhere with me all over the place set up at parties. Played for nonstop 48 hrs by different djs and never let me down. Never had any issues with them. Rock solid units. I was told they had a lifetime guarantee and I can believe it !!! Who would ever need to use it !!!!
To be honest about this subject, I AM PISSED OFF!! This is the best reliable turntable I have dealt with for so many years, and now they wanna kick the can?!? There's no better turntable that's durable like the Technics 1200 SL-1200MK2, and these turntables are the primary reason why so many other competitive brand names try to be like them.
@BelgianJungleSound ..675.00 is still too much too me for technics.Avg price use to be 499.i would think somthing is fishy with all these prices going up on the 1200..but hey, some djs are big money spenders i guess.
@selectajay2000 ye well i think the mk2s wer 600 so its not a huge increase, just a fluctuation, especially as i live in belgium; you could probably get an mk2 in Britain for 500 pounds if you looked hard enough. and then there's the fact that loads of people buy second hand, so brand new tehcnics probably aren't selling too well, lots and lots of reasons.
I hope this is not true.Technics already quit making amps, speakers,cd players and many more home audio products. This is the #1 turntable in the world so why would it be discontinued?I have my ''87 1200 and it still works like the day I got it.I miss the good ole days when Technics was alive and well.
im savin up for em im tryin to get some before tha end of tha year but i heard that there r still thousands of them out there and theres goin to be more cuz other djs r sellin em on craigs list or ebay
This sucks that they have chosen to pull production. I have been shopping for the 1210 and they have gone up in price. Lets see what they do from here
Some say it was just 2 boost sale's of the turntable as many new DJ's just go for CDJ's now, i personaly would never go fully digital as i just love vinyl 2 much but i would consider getting a single CDJ as there alot of label's in the dance music scene (many different genre's of that particular style) that only release sum of the best tunes on Mp3, which is a shame! But i don't tink that 1210's will ever die, they'r 2 well respected 2 be made obsolete, i've never like'd 1200's much tho!
if they stop making it they will loose out on so much money.........for one audiofiles think the 1200/10 is a bloody good record deck and they are more than happy in spending another 3/400 pounds on moding the deck with different cables to different tone arms like the RB 350..etc
I have the 1210 mk5g and I have changed the power cable for a russ andrews and put solid silver rca cable on it and it sounds pukka
well known fact get people to buy your product by telling everybody that your not going to make it any more example
COLT mfg a firearms company in us kept sending out press releases saying the revolvers were going to go out of production yeah right see they make more revolver models than semi autopistols hey slowed down production to limit the supply and when dealers sold out everybody was paying higher prices to get thethings now production is up but so are the prices watch and learn guys
If these great turntables stop being made it will be like another Michael Jackson shock. The death of the great, however it's legend will never stop. These decks will still be used and be No1 even if they stop making them. We hope they don't. (KEEP THE BEST TURNTABLE GOING)
London Acoustical Developments had an even better deck than Technics, faster quickstart for starters, better built etc., Same story with Brenell, better tape decks than Revox, but Revox had the name.
it maybe true but they shouldnt discontinue the production of them becuase people still buy them and its just not right its just like pioneer stopping production for the cdj 400s n 1000s
Hopefully its not, its like an instrument at the end of the day, they didnt stop making acoustic guitars when electric came out, digital is still great but the true purest still use the original things....we shall wait ad see
This is not a new rumour...after the first time I heard this...they came out with the 1210...then they came out with another revision. I will wait and see...
But I can tell you this, the DZ1200 was a flop!!!
As DMC put so nicely Technics have ruled the market for 35 years but it won't be a bad thing if Panasonic let the decks go out gracefully. There are many other decks on the market that are just as good if not better. However they will never have the success of the 1200 series.
Now they can become rightly deserved collectors items.
But lets face it, with used prices sometimes going for more than new on Ebay I guess they already are.
I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a rumor to increase sales of the Technics deck during this holiday season. Could be wrong, but how many of you that were in no hurry to buy a 1200 are now thinking you want to get a piece of history before it's gone quickly? Anyway, I hope they don't drop the line. I kind of suspect maybe they are just dropping it to one model of the deck only, we will see :)
It's ashame, but from what I've seen and heard djs apart from some have started using CD turntables these days, be sad to see it go but things move on
