@tqlax21 Cesc is a great passer. But it depends on what opposition you're facing. If Pep needs Barca to stretch the defensive line of the opposing team, Villa is the best at that. Pedro can do that as well as they're both speedy. Cesc isn't that quick and in the long run he is the successor to Xavi.

So I can't see him continuing as a forward. Barca would be looking to get another forward this January or next season.

Barca players are truly highly versatile and generally very schooled technically. However Pep might want to procure a deadly out and out striker which is becoming a dying breed in this planet. Torres 3 years back would be good but right now I can only think of Demba Ba or Benzema as the best these days.

@tqlax21 I fully agree. Fabregas played a little similar role in Arsenal but much deeper on the pitch. He was much more like a #10, a playmaker. In Barcelona though, they don't need him to play there because of Xavi and Iniesta, so they play him up front because obviously he's much better finisher than either Xavi, Iniesta or Thiago. I wondered how he would fit in, but he's a totally different player now! He's a little like Dennis Bergkamp, if I dare to say.

Honestly most people are being ignorant. They are driven emotionally because the big rivalry between madrid and barca which only amplifies the rivalry of Ronaldo and Messi. Both are fantastic players but despite wide spread belief Messi is the more complete player. This video shows the one aspect of the game that Ronaldo severely lacks, the pass, yes he can pass and is less selfish this year. Messi is one HUGE leap in front of everyone else, and behind is - not ronaldo - , but rather players as Iniesta, Sneijder, Silva, Van Persie, THEN Ronaldo. He already has 8 assists this season, which is the 7th best across Europe (Messi 14, DiMaria 13, Silva 11, Mata 9, Nani 9).
