they sound beatiful singing in english, but if they sang it in there native tongue it would sound f......g terrible even worse in that horrible german.
What a talanted group abba was such wonderful music and vocies. What a pity the garabge calledd music now is just what it is garbage. The so called artist of today the equel of abba and other,s like them in class elgance taleant. Ha no way and never will be.
Habe ich in einer musikalisch gesehen guten Zeit gelebt! Ist mir erst heute klar. ABBA ist auch in 300 Jahren noch POP! Thank you for the music, ABBA!
Hahahaha XD a bored audience? Seeing the video of Pussycats singing Georgie, indeed they look so quiet to listen and enjoy better the musics, like the japanese audience. Moreover, there were also so many beautiful singers and groups at that time, like Beegees, than Bonnie Tyler, Peter Kent, Secret Service, etc... that even an electric brazilian like me would prefer stand imobile to enjoy them!
i mean, simply watch the first video, which comes, if you enter the day before you came, this was on german tv, too, and the people are clapping there nearly all the time!!
@stoutie13 Back then no one jumped on any song, no matter how much you loved it. It was just sit and dont move, even if you enjoyed the music a lot. At home we danced always when such songs were played on television, but not in front of the cameras, it was just not done, back then:)
@Rooibosthee1 orite what if you couldnt resist i woudn't be Able to sit this still on the classic dancing queen song ill just jump all my ass off lol why wouldnt you do it is it because it looked immoral back then or something?
The address overlay was in the original broadcast! - The spectators of 1976 could ask for an autograph by writing at the address displayed during each performance. (A service many fans appreciated at the time, long before SMS and internet.)
What is noteworthy for all non Germans here is that the Presenter chose to be dressed neatly and formally. The idea behind it was that this was to honour the guests.
I think Ilja Richter also invented a proto-version of the joke, but back then there were still problems producing the punch-line.

The audience seems to be brought in from the forests of the outskirts of Stockholm. Like a bunch of zombies- not even a finger snapping to the music.
The audience is as dead as volvo.

Remember, this was performed before this song became a worldwide musical sensation!
How much of a treat to hear them(ABBA) live, and, at the time, unfettered by success and fame, that would follow.

The German audience look completely bored and un-impressed, maybe they couldn't understand the language or would prefer to watch football !
stoutie13 2 years ago
Well, at that time it was cool to appear un-impressed, but listen to the applause and the whistles at the end!

Thank you for the text intrusion between 1:32 and 1:54 that ruined this wonderful performance of Abba on German television - from 6 Nov, 1976.
