Here we have some cats backyard jammin an uberclassic tune for six of their best friends. So you supercritics: if you haven"t carried the rock'n'roll torch lately... STFU.
You are a very talented and able group with great sound. It's not hard for me to imagine you have a lot of your own material and perhaps are not particularly interested in covering other bands' work.
While what you've shown here is quite good (I especially liked the lead guitar work near the end of the song), I think the group is capable of much more on this song.
Not bad and an awesome song. I was impressed with your singing. What's your overall opinion of the vl micro vibe? Do you think it would be appropriate for someone playing a Strat?
Thanks for stopping by. Yes most definitely, the micro vibe sounds great with a strat. All the vl have a recurrent problem with the foot switch. Mine is no exception. Check out the reviews at harmonycentral.
Actually the chords are minor sevenths and you are playing a major. Play it lower on the neck off of an E minor chord. Same with the B minor. Totally wrong chord progression and bass notes during the chorus. You need to pull out the record and listen a little closer. Other than that, you played some nice guitar licks.
Great cover of a great tune! Thanks for keeping Robin's music alive. I am constantly shocked (and appalled) that so many people have never heard of Robin Trower.
actually a well balanced audio mix...the drums sound tight and not sloppy (very common for smaller bands),I can clearly hear both the bass and guitar plus the vocals are not too boomy but pretty clear (another thing that is rare in smaller gigs), overall a nice job...actually sounds much better then most small venue live shows
I think your version of this song is great! I'm a Trower fan from way back. It makes me sick hearing all these negative comments from all these lousy noise "Bass overkill" bands who most likely have never heard of RT. You all sound great and keep this style of music alive. Any More Jams?
It is too bad It was a farewell party, pal. You were playing great. I could feel the blues on this song, man. The greatest blues are sad. Like a farewell... That is the road of life...
It appears you are micing that blues deville. If you are that would be pretty stupid. It would be better just to turn it up to get that tube/speaker distortion rather than keep it at low volumes and mic it through the PA. And why would you play through the fender when there is a Marshall half cab right next to it, unless of course the Marshall is Solid State. You should have invited more people too.
Yes, the Deville was miked, like everything else. When you play in an open place, the 60W of the Deville pale in front of the 2000W of the board. Besides, the goal here is not to mimic Mr. Trower, with a Strat and a Marshall half stack, but rather to play his song with our own signature tones, which is achieved through gibson guitars and Fender tube amps, among other things.
I'm not being too critical. It's just my opinion and common knowledge that It would sound more full if you just turned up to get a good sound. As of where the sound is set up on the video, It sounds like the amp doesn't have much tone. It also could be the fact of the recording quality. I'm just saying if I were to do it, I would have done it a little different. The song is fine, I have no problems with that.
What do you mean "not-well-known from Robin Trower?" It's a classic forerunner to "Bridge of Sighs." Awesome performance though. Thanks for sharing.

is that a bassman you're playing through? sounds good.

Hi,
Thanks. It's a 4x10 Blues Deville, lacquered with Bullseye Orange Shellac. The sound and visual are pretty close to a Bassman.
