Oh yeah for all you peole bitching me out on PC specs hitting any where near 8k benchmark remember this:

THEY MADE IT GRAPHICALY INTENSE SO THAT IT WILL GROW WITH PC TECHNOLOGY!!

This eventually means that given 1-3 years every one will be running a machine that will be 5-10x better then current hardware.

OOhhh and believe you me. Hardware hase increased 140% over the last 3 years.

FYI: 8k is there because only dev machines can hit that mark with current tech. unless your rich.

I heard that benchmark test was very buggy. I scored a 2,000 something or another and can play any game out there on full settings i.e. AoC, LotRO, WAR on and on.

I just tried the benchmark for FFXIV, and only scored 1100 on low settings... Yet I can play just about every other game perfectly fine, on max settings none the less (i.e. Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins, etc...) Is the benchmark going by the standards of the alpha/beta version of the game? I hear Square Enix is lowering the requirements for the final cut? Can someone give me their opinion on this?

I don't understand why anyone is complaining about the current battle system... FFXIV is a MMORPG, not DRAGON BALL Z or HALO 3. Who gives a shit about how fast you fight, and how many buttons you smash that is not even what MMO's are about.

I'm not really tech savvy or anything like that but isn't the new battle system better ? I mean I played FFXI for like 7 years and I remember you select a target, leave the room, then come back and see a victory. The new battle system for FFXIV would eliminate BOTS wouldn't it? I think SE is taking a lot of precaution by cutting down on ways for BOTS/Hackers/RMT to take advantage of the system. If you think about FFXI is pre-alpha to FFXIV. SE is definitely going to make this game flawless.

as ive stated b4. the new battle system is not auto at all. you can do one of 2 things with it. hit your button to attack aslong as the gage has power in it. or 2. wait for the gage to fill for stronger more well placed attacks. this will be a slect your attck , attack slect your attack and again attack. i like it its better then XIs where you as a mele could just engage an enemy get up make a sandwitch, pee , get a beer , call your grilfriend . and goback to your PC or tv. This is different

@Khalith You haven't played a well designed MMORPG that uses a completely skill based system; obviously in alpha FFXIV wasn't there yet either, but my point is-- don't get angry when an MMORPG does not follow every single convention that past MMORPGs have followed. If designed properly this will be great. Far greater than "right-click and idle until the monster is dead"

Yeah this isnt an MMO but White knight chronicles you had to manunally enter every attack and that combat system got such negative feedback. I know they don't want to copy WoW but come on there battle system is pretty damn good, no reason not to take some ideas from it. Thats what Old Republic is doing and I'm losing less interest for FF14 and more for old republic more we see.

Watching that video on the new battle system it has me concerned, mainly because it *looks* like he has to manually select every single auto attack he performs from the slash to the stab.

@Khalith Yeah well there was a lot of AFK people in FFXI that played melee classes and who know this could directly Correlate to the amount of power you may gain. I mean if your hitting like a truck on auto attack the tank will probable lose threat but picking your hits with full power may prove better.

@sorynbeta Manually selecting every single slash, stab, and swing seems rather boring to me. The main problem with FFXI was the fact that the cooldowns on so many melee abilities were so long, it's nice to always have a button to hit, but not for your swings. It's more fun to always have some kind of special attack. Since you play WoW it's more fun to say "I'll hit this special attack so I can use this attack" and not like FFXIV new system where it's like "I'm going to stab, now slash, etc."

@Khalith Yeah I understand how it can become tedious but remember this is only alpha and this could very well change. Auto attack will probably be recommended by the alpha testers but it just turns into the TP auto system in ffxiv. now in ff14 mobs seem to dies faster so it will probably more interactive then auto attack when your physical levels and gear are incorporated into your manual slash and other attacks.

Remember that there are other situation with "multiple damage" attacks.
