Credit is already drying up. So, if you want to borrow money for a house, car, student loan, etc. you'd better have an excellent FICO score - otherwise you'll get squat.

Phone your Congressman ASAP and tell him to approve the next proposal. Otherwise you and your family could be standing in soup lines like your parents or grandparents did last century.

That's because the ALL TIME HIGH that was reached 2 years ago, because of all the suicide loans (that allowed people that sweep floors for a living buy a house for $300k++) has fallen quite a bit; this will continue to happen until all the suicide loans reset and are washed out of the system through foreclosure; eventually (possibly next decade), we will be back to the fundamentals.
