Thank you so much for these videos. The military screen was so confusing, and the wiki made everything seem so much more complicated than necessary. Your video cleared things right up, and now the military screen isn't quite so daunting, and my dwarves have some brave speardorfs protecting the fort.
I can't believe you are still listening to that guitar track.
Love your videos - I'm on my 3rd or 4th attempt to learn the game to the point where I can play it freely, and I don't know what I would do without you!
I think that sometime after you finish this tutorial (if you had time) you should just do a play through of DF. I think it's just nice to watch other people play, And see their strategies for this game. It gives me some ideas for when I play.
So the big question I have still is how do you tell your civilians to get out of the entrence burrows when it's time to Panic. I gather it has something to do with setting up a second burrow and telling them that they all should go there when you set everyone to panic, but I'm still confused on how you go about doing that.
@djsyntic Yeah i should handle that. The trick is not to keep them out of the Entrance burrow, its to set them to another burrow that is the entire inside of your fort. The same burrow can span multiple levels.
Anyway this will probably be in a video to someday, also with how to set your dwarves to train at a barracks because i completely forgot that.
Those are some complex features that were added, although I think once I get the hang of it it'll improve the military a lot. Or at least make it easier to stop that stupid fox who keeps chasing my dorfs around.
Those are some majorly complex features that he added. I like it. Might take a while, but I think once you get the hang of it it's definitely an improvement.

Training so hard that you forget to eat and then starve to death, is that dedication or stupidity?

why didnt you make 4 month shifts so the third shift squad will get to train as much as the other squads
vatervarior 1 year ago
why didn't you give the 4th shift to the 4th squad?

Thx for all your videos! Helped me a lot to get started...
About military scheduling, isn't it better to build an army of milita now? Half-time training and half-time working?

Hmm, defending burrows with a minimum of 10dwarves, won't they starve/dehydrate while defending burrows now though?

I thought I was beginning to marginally understand DF until DF2010 rolled out. That's now a pipe dream.

Also @captnduck, do you ever get the urge to tell your military people to wear red shirts? (sorry for the Startrek joke, it might not happen again)

@djsyntic Noop, not really that big of a star trek fan. But you can definitly do that ingame using the uniform menu.
