I've always loved Lifeblood! It's a pity that the album is considered to be a fail:(. Coincidentally my two the most favourite Manics' albums are Holy Bible and Lifebood. Yes, they're too different, but both are great IMHO. Although I like all their records, including Postcards of a Young Man. Greetings from Ukraine! Cymru am byth!:)
outstanding, hoping the Manics come back to the US....the greatest group out there today, no question about it...prolific and creative, what else is there to ask for?
The Manics wouldn't be the Manics without the whole 'underrated' thing they seem to carry around. They certainly weren't the most commercially successful act to populate the '90's, but IMO they were definitely the best.
ooo this is a nice version....a bit more like the regular manics. Though i LOVE this album to death...it was such a stark side venture for them, i see why it alienated some manics fans. So it's kind'a cool to hear this more "manicsy" version.
Lifeblood is one of these albums which will come to light later on (10+ years down the line maybe) when it will be viewed as been an important album for the Manics. Also because of the contrast between this and any other albums shows exactly why we love the MSP so much, they can diversify so much and still stay on a core ideal. In time Lifeblood will be regarded as good as it should, not by the critics but by the fans.
Lifeblood's great. Very melancholy, lots of keyboards and great production. Glad I saw them on that tour, songs were dropped from the live set pretty quickly.
nothing short of classic; only "A Design...." competes for their best song title. really interesting to see nicky in 'normal' gear and quite sedate. thanks for posting
lifeblood was the next step for them. Its a great album, probably one of there best. All the band members shine on it. And all the songs reflect on what the band was going through at that time. Rock on manics
not everybody likes lifeblood but i really do love it! :D ok, mabye sean doesnt get much drumming action but i'd say that its great that nicky played slap bass on always/never :D they are wrighting the holy bible part 2 So i cannot wait for that :D
I don't specially like "Lifeblood". Of course I don't expect them to write the Bible again, but "A Song for Departure" is the only song on that album that seems honest, most others look like faked. Example "Love of Richard Nixon": it's a song many others could write! The only really outstanding song on their 2004-work, "Send Away the Tigers" is a bit better.
Empty Souls? Gotta be crazy not to like that. By the way, looks like Wire plagiarized some of the lyrics in this song, revealed by folks at foreverdelayed dot org. Sad but true. Fookin wire (I love them forever regardless).
I'm sort of sick of people slagging them off for this album. The worst thing any long-standing band can do is pretend they're 20 years old again. They develop and so does their sound. Although far from the Joy Division type sound they had with THB, Lifeblood is still a brilliant album and is a fantastic showcase of James' voice (someone below said that). You can't fault them for not sounding like they're angry, rebellious youths.
sean is an amazing drummer! i love the drums on TIMTTMY that and the holy bible have great drums! i especially love his drumming on la trisdesse! :D have you seen the vid of him drumming in a rehersal? the camera is only focused on him, and i LOVE it! sean rocks he is one of the best drummers, but so underrated, but since when were rummers the main object of the band? :( i hope people will start to apreciate his talent more! he really disserves it! plus, hes cute :D
Because its a beautiful album, full of catchy piano hooks, which is, for some reason an insult to the early punk rock sound of Holy Bible. For me, it showcases the beauty of James' voice and is there most listenable album. Absolutely love this album.
Really good song yeah.. Lifeblood isn't that bad, it just different from the Manics other work. I love the rougher albums, but I really like Lifeblood too....
What a song - love everything about it. What a song.

hardcore manics fans tend to not like it. it hink it's one of their finest albums! and im pretty hardcore.

@braddersthemod It boggles my mind why some people hate it so much. It has it's own sound.

incredible song, incredible album.
reflecs mature writing, thinking, playing. it's a classic.
people mature - this album reflects that.
but they haven't gone soft...the lyrics in this album are some of their most bitter, hard-hitting and politically conscious yey.
it's a classic.
