  • He never lost it what a genius

  • Love it. PJProby is a one off....which is what I love.

  • I Love You PJ. I've always Loved You and I always will.

  • pigtails have to go.

  • I remember the presenter Mike Smith having a go at PJ's look.

    What a voice though. Phenomenal!

  • @stwads Mike Smith....where is he now?? Nowhere!! but P.J. Proby is still here & singing better than ever!

  • @theBESTelvis Proby's the best singer theres ever been,LOL,and more,LOL........

  • @ITSTHETRUTHOK

YEP...He sure is, Nice of you to post that as well. , LOL

  • Great interpretation of his hit.

He has been a star in my life for 50years now, thats no has been.

  • I first heard P.J. in 1966. I imagine it took overwhelming courage and stamina to endure his adversity, while that amazing voice languished. I'm glad you tube has revived appreciation for him but it would be nice to see fortune come his way, too, at long last.

  • After all these years "Somewhere" is still my favourite song and P.J. Proby, my favourite singer.

  • I think "pony tails" is a better description. He was a trend setter back in the 60's when his single pony tail was the first! His double pony tails 16 years later did not set a trend.Whichever way he styles his hair is fine with me just as long as that great voice stays the same Ron

  • pig tales really?

  • He is so very very good. He makes this song his own even though it is a classic, he puts his own power and conviction to it.

  • I think the pony-tails look kinda cute.

  • Whatever year ,whatever song, P.J.Proby is THE SPECIAL ONE Ron

  • Yes P.J. Thers Is A Place For You. It's up there on the stage doing what you do best. Singing for us.

    Good on you P.J.

  • I have heard him sing that song a zillion times, that was exhilarating and confirms his artistry, a legend in his lifetime for sure.

    NZ loves you PJ

    P.S.

The pigtails Hmmm silly and a pity I think.

  • I love this, he had the pig tails when I saw him in Oldham 1981ish, went in his dressing room after the show for his autograph, he had a hugh bed in it and I was sat next to him. I was seventeen and loved him then as I do now. unfortunately I lost the autograph a couple of years later in a messy relationsip breakup but I still remember what it said. Debi, all my, me love, P J Proby.

  • Thank you, mate!

  • But please grabar20, I love Elvis as well and will always do, so the fact that he is your idol doesn't make you my enemy at all.

Despite that I can't for the life of me understand your strange obsession with PJ Proby. Your Elvis is the most idolized artist ever so how come that you are so incredibly afraid of the tiny competion from a guy who had his peak about 43 years ago???

By the way: what did Elvis do when Proby recorded his hits in 64-65? Queenie Waheenie?

    The world laughed at E.P.

  • For those of you who do NOT understand,

the haitstyle was Probys way of saying:

"Look at me! I'm the greatest singer in the whole wide world, but I don't need any stylist, just give me two rubberbands. I don't need to be the most handsome. All of those who only look at my hairstyle and don't listen to my voice are only to pity. People who are beyond help, but I'm not singing for them."

Anyone with two fresh ears can hear that Proby outsings Elvis and anyone else with ease on this tune.

  • I think you're reading too much into this. He was probably drunk, but what the heck. Seeing this clip was fantastic. He looked pretty damn good all things considered. He has a real nice voice, thats for certain!

  • Hi grabar 20!

What is your obsession with this Jim Proby?

    I'm curios! Let me know.

To me it feels like an obsession. Must be something extraordinary.

By the way...don't worry, in my world Elvis is number 2. Not too bad anyway, an't it?

  • Just wanted to check the comments to see if there was anything new to read, and there I was AGAIN speechless just listening to the worlds greatest singer. Be he white, black green or whatever!

I mean; goddamitt! You who stubbornly refuses to admit Jims greatness, LISTEN TO HOW THE MAN SINGS!

Understand also that Proby in this period of his life hadn't recorded for major label for 15 years, did almost no concerts at all and was long since an alcoholic.

Despite that he easily outsang everyone!

  • AMAZING VOICE,

what more can i say !!!!

many people think PJ is another elvis figure in musical history yet he doesn't the recognition for it at all. PROBYS THE BEST SINGER EVER.

  • Speechless.

  • Wow! What a power! Unbelievable...

  • Jim looks sad. Disillussioned. Almost as if he had given up all hopes for any kind of future.

Not a trace of a succesfull career in 15 years. Only defeats. It's the most laidback version of Somewhere I've ever heard him do. despite all that he is just in a class of his own!

    Absolutely marvellous.

The Probian mystery never ceases to amaze me. Here he is, the Goddamn best singer in the world showing it to the world again and again and again...and almost noone gives a damn. Love you Jim!

  • I saw Mr. Proby sing this on TV way back in like 1965 or so (?). I had my young socks knocked off. and to this day never understood why he never became the huge superstar he should have been. I think there maybe quite a few of us long time fans who simply thought he just disappeared forever. If not for YT I'd have probably never seen or heard him again.

  • Exactly.

Every time I hear him, be it as a rocker, balladeer, a soulman, countrysinger or whatever I can't for the life of me understand why he just disappeared.

Larger than life he could have been anything but ended up as a nobody.

    What a shame.

  • Sorry my friend I cannot agree P.J. ended up as a nobody! He's a living legend & that will be verified in the years to come.He was huge at one stage in his career and if the world was a fair place he would have stayed that way. Bonus for Proby fans....he's still around & singing better than ever! Ron

  • The bottomline is that PJ Proby today is completely forgotten in the publics eye, and has been forgotten for decades. The fact that he is a better singer than anyone else on the market even today has nothing to do with his popularity among common people. "A nobody" can seem like a hard word, nevertheless it´s true if you talk popularity and not talent. And the truth is always the truth, even if you don´t like it.

  • TheRamyth He may be "forgotten" in a few countries where he once was popular. In the UK in particular he is definitely NOT forgotten & he is making CD's,touring,on the radio & is sometimes featured in the newspapers ......so don't write him off yet please! he still has a lot to offer. A true Proby fan, Ron
