Started playing QTF 1995 and it brings back some REAL good memories. I played all through my unversity studies and although i missed a few exams because of playing tf, IT WAS WORTH IT!!!

@Falador321 there are 3 american server,1 brazil and 1 euro server that I saw ppl still play...There is one american that plays every tuesday I think and one everyy sunday...chek it out on quake servers net

This brings back memories, the true TF which got me into team gaming back in the day. So much fun was had playing this game on the net via my shitty 56k modem and at LANs. I doubt half of the players these days would even know about QTF

This is the best FPS ever. Back in 1996 it WAS superb from the other games. I remember it like yesterday when I had my copy of Quake. I stayed up through 2 days playing Quake. This is awesome and will always be! QUAKE FOREVER!

newer games have rarely ever made any advances in terms of gameplay. unless you're impressed by the supposed super innovative "teeter-totter" HL2 physics or bubble shields in halo 3 I don't see how newer games have gotten any better specifically in terms of gameplay. In fact, if you look purely at gameplay mechanics you'll find that newer TF games (TFC, TF2) have -removed- far more from QTF than they have added, and simply for the purpose of accessibility. not impressive at all.

@fireb0rn Why does everyone equate the quality of a game to its innovativeness? As long as a game is fun to play it doesn't matter how many features it has. I liked hl2 just as much as I liked hl1. It silly to say that a game sucks because it's more accessible or it's not innovative. It amazes me how comments like these get top rated.

I was criticizing game devs for trying to sell poor attempts at innovation. My point was that the gameplay is pretty similar and that if you enjoyed one, the older shouldn't feel "unbearable" (read the post I responded to). TFC innovated in absolutely no way but I praised it in my post. So why do I enjoy it? Because it's fun to play. Removing gameplay mechanics that I find fun for the sake of accessibility bothers me.
