well well well, great video and it gave me hope that if i go and REALLY try to get my fricking variator nut off, it will. NO!
i put alot of string in piston which does work well but my nut is SOOOOOO tight u wouldent believe.
the nut is rounding now so i now am taking it to a bloody mechanic,
all i can say is its a SH IT DESIGN. i hav tryed EVERYTHING. and hav done damage to engine by beating it sooo hard. lmao i hate that nut so bad. wen i got home i beat the sh it out of my toaster.
i do it old school, take out the spark plug, then insert a 12 inch section of rope, and start turning, rope gets bound inside the jug and stops the piston
It would take alot of force to mess up the crankshaft. I torqued the crap out of mine before I used that breaker bar method. Plus I did break 2 cooling fins off my variator and still runs fine. So no worries just grab a friend and break that nut off and problem solved.
It was a bit unnerving watching you start it, coz when I did a similar operation and didn't tighten the nut enough the whole damn thing flew off like a rocket, all weights were lost or destroyed and hurt my friend's leg real bad (he was standing off to the side, somewhat away from it, just in case - didn't help). So, yeah, next time stand behind the scooter when you do that. Good video though!
finally one that matches mine exactly, thank you very much bro; may you continue to ride "free".

did you have help?? because you cant do it alone. You need a person to hold the variator wheel with big channel locks bro.
