Love this song. It reminds me of the trip our school friends (University of Madrid, Spain) took in the Easter of 1975. Paris's spring was cold and rainy, Belgium and Holland was still snowing, we threw snowballs on the street and rented two-seat bicycles sightseeing, Abba's songs were in the air.... Can you imagine, I am a Taiwanese American now living in Southern California :)
I think all of us can remember such a summer and such a person who seemed larger then life...then coming upon the reality one day so much later. Oh, to live in dreams where everything is perfect and timeless...
So 6 people do not like this? Well, there`s always that 1% of people with really bad taste. Go on, listen to your "One direction" then, I am listening to this - and singing at karaoke as well!:)
I thought the line: >An now you're working in a bank, a family man and a football fan; and your name is Harry< was just in the movie, so who the heck is Harry in this case????
ABBA was my favorite group when I was a teenager and in the military. I am not ashamed of that and I actually caused my sister to become an ABBA fan. And to see Mamma Mia in the theater and on Broadway makes the music even more wonderful.
@macro1958 I also saw Mamma Mia on Broadway last Feb !!! ABBA + nyc = Heaven !!!!!! Best night of my life except when I saw them live in concert Glasgow 1979 !!!!!!
@ngjoe77 I don't think they're going to be reuniting, because, if I'm not mistaken, one of the men has Alzheimer's or something like that and can't remember ever being part of the group.
after so many decades of summer and they themselves have been talking about it...will it happen? I am talking about a REUNION? I have been praying about it.. MY LIFE WILL BE WHOLLY COMPLETE AFTER my loved ones and good health when I catch them together for a 3-hr concert any where in this planet even in Stockholm and i am from Singapore! plz, can anyone close to them tell me???
Today this keeps me alive. ABBA',s studio management was way past the best.In my 68 yrs.I've never heard better. The Isaacs (gospel group ) do come close to this quality.
lol my mom used to play ABBA music when I was really little so I've always loved it. now I'm 13 :P surprisingly alot of people in my homeroom know the lyrics to most of their songs. ABBA SHALL NEVER DIE <3
words here wont suffice. Vocals so crisp, music absolutely perfect and lyrics- a full story in few stanzas and that crying guitar. How many times i would have heard this song, may be good 100 and still hungry for it. God bless the creators of such melodies.
Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. There will never be anything like them.. and then Agnetha and Annifrid singing it,,, how did they get together.... creating this once in a thousand years group...
Ok I'll admit it... I hadn't heard of this song until watching Mama Mia (dang near worn my DVD slam out LOL), but it is just so touching and poignant. I've always loved ABBA but considering that I was barely school age when they first hit here in the US, I beg forgiveness for being unaware of their lost gems. Mea culpa
@SuperLucky97 I obviously DON'T like that kind of music and I used to hate it too and I tried to make my friends see that old music is better... but well, I just don't listen to new music and I don't care when someone says I'm weird for that :) I feel that you really need to care about something to hate it, and I just don't care about most of today's artists so I don't hate them:)
besides, I'm a Peace & Love girl<3 mostly because of the beautiful songs I listen to... like this one;D
@Aleksylie Both sing at times. Frida has a warmer sound to her voice and Agnetha has a higher and more pure sound. They complimented each other very well.
This song is so well-written and sung that it is actually "painful" to listen to; it pulls so many good memories and is such a "good-bye" melody that one yearns to go back to where and when it all happened...
Wow. I last listened to this song in about 1986 and since then, I have been looking for it ! It's 25th May 2011 and I have only just listened to it - since 1986 ! Back then, I was only 8 and the melody was rather catchy - it has stuck with me since then ! I never understood the lyrics but now as a 32 year old person, I must say that the lyrics are rather beautifully sad, the sort that bring up memories that choke you up. Sob.
i'm a bloke (honest) but im not ashamed to admit that this song can reduce me to tears -- especially when i'm singing it at the top of my voice in the car!
i'm a bloke (honest) but im not ashamed to admit that this song can reduce me to tears -- especially when i'm singing it at the top of my voice in the car!
Listen people, I love ABBA as much as the next fan, but you have to accept there are going to be other versions of this song and people will like them, because they are a tribute to ABBA, they are showing people what a fantastic song ABBA created and are singing it because, like you, they love it. Colin Firth did not murder the song, you just don't like anyone else to sing it. Colin sang it beautifuly, he didn't do anything disrespectful, we are not in the past anymore, we have to let go :)
I have been a fan of Abba for years and for some reason, never realized how beatiful this song is. Thanks to Mamma Mia, the movie, I can now realize what I was losing. Thanks for the video, dholm13
What I like about ABBA is that the song lyrics tell a story, not like today's songs that have random lyrics with no meanings just thrown on paper and BOOOM you have a song. No. They wrote the lyrics with meaning.
Wow, what a wonderful (re)discovery! I think I must have heard this song before, but it must have been *decades* since the last time, because I had no memory of it at all apart from a faint sense of familiarity at the back of my head.
But it is absolutely lovely, one of Abba's very best – I agree with those who say that this song is underrated.
@brinkleysammy What do you mean by "this is a remake from the musical MAMMA MIA"? This is the original Abba version of the song, Mamma Mia version is a remake of this, not the other way.
this song (<3) rembers me summer and PortAventura when i go to the hotel 3 days morning croissants... and other site that i dont remember that there's a big 'ajedrez' in spanish. And Agnetha's hair its like sweden girls(2:10 and more xd) sorry i want to publish this i hope you enjoy xd :)
@1nobogey I think Frida's voice is exquisite in this one, but in my opinion, it excelled when she did ''I let the music speak'' and ''Like an angel passing through my room''

doesnt this just take u back to times when life was simple? love was uncomplicated. flowers, soft perfume, long walks, no noisy video games holding your lovers eyes glued to the screen. ppl looked into each others eyes then. yes. that was the time.

Very nice song, but it is clear how Agnetha never could quite pass off as an American English speaking person In this song her foreign accent is quite pronounced. She sounds like a Polack or a Russki trying to speak American English.
Frida was much better at speaking American English. Perhaps, because of her Germanic roots.
But Agnetha sounds kind of silly and foreign to American English speakers -- and this is, after all, -- the dominant language and accent in the world.
@royko22 ...Some people just love to complain! I think they sang/spoke as good as they could! English was and is not their first language.. so just be quiet and enjoy the song.
@royko22 typical arrogant american arse hole, do you think she or any one else in the world except america gives a shit. By the way by american English, do you mean that awful noise american people make when they open their mouths? Don't forget you only have the privilege of speaking English because you were lucky enough to have been a colony of the world greatest ever empire, Fortunately for the rest of the world your accent isn't dominant in the world, try educating yourself.
@royko22 I really can't see the point in here...when you're writing or singing a song, there's no grammar or accents..it is pronounced just the way it is written...and you're really stupid to be saying American English is the dominant language and accent...there is no dominant accent in my opinion..people speak in english the way they were taught how to speak it...but the dominan language is PROPER ENGLISH, as spoken by the Brits..
@royko22 Listen to this song long enough and you might realize that it is Frida in the lead vocal. The universe does not revolve around we Americans. I am very well pleased when I hear how carefully the Swedes pronounce their words, with attention to their enunciation/diction. It's commendable that they could speak up to three languages, write superb songs, sing with voices that have no equal, and become multi-millionaires in the process. Can we say the same for some perfect speakers?

@royko22 - American English isn't even the dominant language and accent in your country, let alone the world. You're being Hispanicised so fast you won't even be speaking English in another generation. Good riddance.
Were these the same socialist Swedes who sold out their brothers and sisters in Norway and Findland? The same socialist Swedes who worked with the Nazis against the free people of the USA and England?
Anna Frida's father was a Waffen SS Nazi soldier who knocked up her Swedish mother and then left.
No loss. It wasn't even nearly sold out.
Serious freedom-loving people didn't care to pay to go see them.

@royko22 I would find it hard to pass as American English speaking, maybe 'cos my accent tilts to scouse or estuary depending from my interlocutor.

Very nice song, but it is clear how Agnetha never could quite pass off as an American English speaking person In this song her foreign accent is quite pronounced. She sounds like a Polack or a Russki trying to speak American English.
Frida was much better at speaking American English. Perhaps, because of her Germanic roots.
But Agnetha sounds kind of silly and foreign to American English speakers -- and this is, after all, -- the dominant langage and accent in the world.
