What happened to the amazing game soundtracks like this one? These days all you get is some embarrassing Japanese techno or rap soundtrack, absolutely shameful.
@SHINJIxCORE download this song to mp3 then play it when playing quake live :D i do that, just go in options and turn down the quake live music xD i do this always :P
Love Quad Machine. Since 1984, I have used a handful of songs to warm up before playing. Because of my general fondness and the usefulness of those songs, which I have had the pleasure to enjoy over the years, I include "Large Time"- ARS, "Tailgunner" - the Nuge, "Wrathchild" - Maiden, and this excellent piece. Also I served with the AQ2 clan WC for 5 years. I wish I could do it again. ...........(WC)-Black
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great game series such as Quake. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
@MovienationsCheb Я в неё играл в 11 лет и не всю прошёл. Мне интересно, в конце игры эта планета Церберон взорвётся что-ли или будут убиты только Строгги?
Man, this game is so classic. It represents one of the biggest jumps in gaming and all FPS games owe it a debt of gratitude (especially COD and Halo). I mean, just look at Quake and then Quake 2. Such an amazing difference in graphics and quality. And listen to this music, it's orgasmic! I only wish that another FPS could feature some kickass metal music as raw as this. Doom and Quake will live forever in my opinion as THE greatest shooters in gaming.
lol yesterday i finished playing quake 2 on hard! it's so easy I couldn't believe it, i always thought it's hard as hell... I even forgot to turn my quad damage when i was fighting makron rofl...
That has to more with the medium of distribution rather than technological advances. Doom was distributed on floppy disk. Quake II had the advantage of being distributed on CD-ROM, which meant that iD could simply do a live recording and place it on the disk as redbook audio. This was done with Sega CD games, which were basically Genesis games with better music. But, it is still impressive to hear how complex compositions had become over a four year gap.
@nubira97 i was born in 1995 and am currently growing up with a bunch of retards who like pop and games where you spend most of your time hideing behind a chest high wall waiting for your health to grow back. i was born in the wrong generation.
No offence, but I'm getting pretty sick of comments like yours. You were born in 1995 and make the same mistake as people born in every age; assuming that the newest generation is more retarded than the ones before it blah blah miss-the-good-old-days-crap. Let me tell you a secret: I was born in 1988, and my generation were filled with people who liked Backstreet Boys, Tamagotchies and Leonardo DiCaprio before he was cool. Not Quake.
Can't we just... like stuff without hating other stuff? Is it too much to ask not to have to wade through millions of "people these days don't appreciate this stuff because all the stuff these kids nowadays like is stupid crap"-comments EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to a video of, well, anything older than three years? I mean, I grew up playing Quake II, and it was an awesome game, and then the years passed, and now I'm playing Crysis and Modern Warfare. Can't I like both?
Is there some kind of rule that says you have to become resentful about anything new simply because you like something old? Is it obligatory to smacktalk younger generations because they don't have the good taste to appreciate something old you happen to prefer?
Sometimes it seems like EVERY SINGLE GENERATION goes through the same phase of looking at the next generation with distaste and claim that "we were never that stupid when we were kids". But we WERE. Totally.
I can only speak from experience, but my generation wasn't any better than this one. People from my generation were just as much morons with no taste in games/music/whatever as any other generation. There are always going to be people who feel left out, like they have nothing in common with their peers when it comes to taste. That doesn't mean the generation is "retarded".
And don't get me wrong, if you don't like newer games, that's fine, totally. I'm just sick of hearing all this "kids these days are retards because they don't like the stuff I like"-stuff over and over. It's not just your comment, I've been seeing it all over in different contexts, so I don't want it to sound as if I'm singling you out as the only offender.
I'm sorry for this little rant.
I'll go listen to the awesome soundtrack and leave you alone now.

@DANTEPLYX The Half-Life engine is heavily based upon the framework made by carmack, but its essentially not the same. however it wouldnt have been made without the inspiration of the quake engines :)
@Rangerleadtheway44 Seriosly? Do you even know what you are saying? Are you being threatened by a gun? Are you mentally ill? Or have you just played the third one without knowing that the first 2 games are ten times more awesome than the third one? Man. You're a dick.
@hugothenerd are you seriously insulting me cuz i was expressing my opinion?? i played the first one like a year ago at my friends house....man you need to get a life...get some friends...and quit being a dork...god i smash kids at school that are like you
Quake 2 was the first game I purchased in my life, I just liked the cover art and got it, and I was scared shitless for the first hour, after that I was screaming in joy at the uncontrollable recoil of the machinegun. I was 6 at the time :). I pretty much remember this music... after 14 years...
people are thinking to hard with video games nowadays just give me a big gun and a bunch of enemies to mow down and ill be the happiest ive been since quake came out. i always loved quakes fast paced gory action.
Have you people even thought that what FPS games would be without Quake and Doom? There would be nothing without those two games, because they're the fucking milestones of shooting games: Long live Id Software!
@PortalCube funnily enough, the only excuse for those who deny Doom/Quake's existence say that without Pac-man or Pong Doom and Quake wouldn't exist.
Sad, really...you can't really call yourself a gamer if you haven't played Doom and this. This and Doom just has this charm of never getting old...maybe it's because of the ridiculous difficulty. :P
@PortalCube Actually while it is quite accurate to say that Both Doom and Quake brought the FPS genre forward both in terms of new ideas and gameplay it's highly Un accurate to say that there would be nothing without these two games because in fact it was Wolfenstien 3D that was the first FPS!! And dare i Say the best FPS ever!! so with out Wolfenstien you wouldn't have either Doom or Quake!
Yeah, especially Volition, Inc running out of idea about developing and spending so many year try to resurrect the red faction franchise. In the end, they inspiring by this game to work on right now and was a successful although, their vehicle and walker pretty rip off from Quake 4. I am not kidding is true.
Honestly guys, this musics by Sonic Mayhem really, really rocks! I have no words to describe it. This soundtracks give me chills. They are so unique, so amazing, so deep... SO QUAKISH! Thank you so much Sonic Mayhem for this wonderful and amazing quakish musics and also for the Quake3 musics!!! :)

If Call of Duty had a soundtrack like this, it would at least be good in one aspect.

Quake 2 was the first game I purchased in my life, I just liked the cover art and got it, and I was scared shitless for the first hour, after that I was screaming in joy at the uncontrollable recoil of the machinegun. I was 6 at the time :). I pretty much remember this music... after 14 years...

Have you people even thought that what FPS games would be without Quake and Doom? There would be nothing without those two games, because they're the fucking milestones of shooting games: Long live Id Software!

@PortalCube not really, what about half life 1, i found it awesome too;
but yeah, quake and doom are badass when it comes to mindless shooting xD
svenIsven 1 year ago
@PortalCube Well half life 1's engine was made from the quake engine....
So we wouldnt have cs .Also hl1 originated hl2 (source engine) and witouth that we wouldnt have those awesome games like l4d ,cs source and portal.
Doom/Quake ftw :D
DoomMaster307 1 year ago
@PortalCube Exactly. Take it like this: If you never played doom or quake, you don't know shit about games
mardar18 1 year ago

@PortalCube
Yeah, especially Volition, Inc running out of idea about developing and spending so many year try to resurrect the red faction franchise. In the end, they inspiring by this game to work on right now and was a successful although, their vehicle and walker pretty rip off from Quake 4. I am not kidding is true.
