OJ opted NOT to take the stand and explain his actions! All the jury had to go on was the audio file and other documents.  The tape and the documents showed his guilt. The audio showed that it was a robbery and a kidnap.

OJ could have taken the stand to explain himself. Instead he tried to "testify" indirectly. That strategy did not work.
