He's avoiding the data mining question. He's talking about "sharing with friends".

We're talking about "sharing with strangers" (meaning advertisers) I don't want companies to know about me and turn me into a consumer and have them use me.

I don't click on ads, I make a note of them if I like them, and a search for the product if I like it and can afford it.

What's the point of me clicking on a System76 ad, if I can't afford one? I want one, but I'm broke.
