  • man, i wish i had this game right now

  • 90s NOSTALGIC, SNIF...SNIF...

  • Fighting game with minecraft graphics.

  • Still the best in my option

  • Fucking moon jump

  • I remeber this game as a kid this was a ok game 3.4/5 the characther were hard to beat but its ok game

  • Is very similar of Tekken, but two are good games.

  • This looks like Tekken 1! :O

  • I was playing this yesterday on Saturn, i actually prefer the way it looks and moves to VF2 on Saturn. I think i prefer the non-textured polygons as well.

  • takový kostičky :DDD

  • I always loved Lau. I think of his laugh every time I time I watch Achmed the Dead Terrorist :D

  • read gwr gamer 2008

  • Where do I get my information? That is classified information... However, I will give you one small hint... Wikipedia, baby! YEAH!

  • AAAGAHAHAHAH the Lau smile made me lose it

  • I know it's the first 3D polygonal fighter but damn... it's like fucking Legos. It looks ugly, and it would've looked better as a beautiful 2D game. And the game is apocalyptically slow, what the fuck..

  • @BurningRaids Its from 1994... think about what you were playing at the time..

  • @erick103

For 1994 this was a great looking game. But when compared to MK2 and SF2 at the time? It was slow and barebones. We'd prefer the faster games and VF was only played when the lines for SF2 and MK2 were too long at the arcades.

It's a landmark game, but it plays atrociously. And we were already wowed by the 3D thing with Star Fox.

  • @BurningRaids I know it looks ugly and blocky, Texture mapping was not introduced until the model 2. It was kind of a test to see what a pure 3D polygonal fighter would look like, and it's sucess let to the better graphics on the model 2 a year later. It also marked the start of games such as Tekken and Dead or Alive. The slowness is also due to the game running at 30 FPS. I mean come on. This was 1993 :D

  • @natman1555

Actually, this particular version of the game was released as a launch title for the Saturn. It is said to have been rushed to make it to launch. The negative reception of this version by fans led to its re-release for the Saturn, Virtua Fighter REmix is a much better port of the arcade and featured better, smoother character models. Not to mention, REmix was completely free, and was sent by mail to all registered Saturn owners in the United States.

  • @Nintendogamr123 Oooh. This Version was made in 1994, right? So it does prove that it was rushed :D Still though I stand by knowledge of that it had a reason to run at 30FPS.

  • Im sure this will run on my calculator at 60 fps

  • 4:01 Epic Fail

  • classic

  • sadly the saturn version was full of graphical glitches, the ring is literally on the verge of disapearing all the time, there was even a bug where the ring disapeared at the start of a round and someone was awarded a ring out victory, on the japanese version at least

  • I Played it First on the 32X but it was fun^^

But way better on the Sega Saturn

  • does lau have the same moveset like kage?

  • compared to the graphics now, the graphics for this game sucks. but come on, cut it some slack! when people bought this game (including me cuz i love this game) they thought this was the future.

  • I remember seeing this in the arcades when it first came out when I was a kid & thinking how awesome this game was. The 3D graphics were nice and so smooth for real 3D. Haha. Now ppl are complaining how bad it is.

  • I thought we all agreed to never mention this monstrosity again.

  • @XxArielXx244 So?

Does it make it a bad game? No. Bit of an eyesore for today's standards but still it's fun and enjoyable game, plus the best you could do with polygon graphics for the time.

  • I still have this game and I still don't know how to play with Akira ;)

  • nostalgic is an understatement, i can remember being on a junior bowling team in between frames trying to play this shit in the arcade.

  • REV UP THOSE POLYGONS.

  • my first game in saturn.my god.i miss my sega

  • mega clasico

  • i remember playing this when i was young. i played it non-stop

  • 1 person disliked the video, so Justin Bieber was here!

  • When I first saw screenshots of this game in a magazine (and later saw it in the arcades) I literally thought I was dreaming... I didn't think they looked realistic - that they never were, but they looked like real figurines I thought. Like they were wooden dolls or something filmed with an actual camera, it was so cool. And the animation was even more "WOW", it was definately one of the most jaw-dropping moments EVER in video games to see the fluid and *real* martial arts movements!!

  • oh how i miss blocky 3d characters:(

  • this game looks hard for its time

  • 4:01 i loved that xD

  • damn i remember all those times, played this game when i was like 5, couldn't even learn more advanced tricks like spinning around enemies with Wolf etc..

  • 1 person! 1 person disliked the video.

  • Yeah It's still great isn't it? Strong gameplay and arcade-y appeal, as you expect from Sega! ^_^

  • This looks so much better on the Sega Saturn than on the Sega 32X

  • LAU CHAN WAS MY FAVIROUTE I ALWAYS USED TO SPAM THE CONTROLLER JUST TO MAKE HIM JUMP AND SHIT GARAGSJGADAJGHDJHJ IM NOSTALGING SO HARD RIGHT NOW HOLY FUUCK!

  • dammm thats freakin nostalgic ..

im now 16 but i remember this game like 10-11 years ago ..

glad i grew up in that awesome time ..

  • 4:01 translation:SUICIDE JUUUMP!!!

  • i remember i used the ninja a lot he was freaking funny when he did those kicks

  • 1:14 lau smile made me laugh :))

  • Epic graps

    FTW!

  • There's no way I can sum up in a comment how I feel about this game. At the time the graphics were breathtaking as was the music and game play. Even now I think that VF1 is the best of all the Virtua Fighters.

  • This is what video games are all about I'd rather ply this shit all day rather than modern warfare shit ima find this game and start playing it!!!

  • virtua fighter 1 was the (lets put it this way) God that created all things good(video games eg. m.k. 4) its great

  • the block cubes of vurtua fighters miss those days

  • This brings back some serious memories! I remember playing it in an arcade in Lanzerote about 12 years ago...that christmas i just had to have a Sega Saturn with Virtua fighter!

    Kage ftw every time!

  • 1:14 Pedophile face.

  • I used to play this on the PC. I like the old Sega games! Maybe I should get a Saturn he he!!

  • dam now how the games are they look soo real back then we were this is the most realest game there was was now were like fuck this is ugly

  • @TheDopeman16

    So you speak English?

  • This help set the level for future fighting games

  • Why Was Lau Laying On The Ground On His Stomach Upside Down When He Died Baby Doo Doo Head

  • Tekken was a great plagiary of virtua fighter.

    Shame on namco.

Not only the combos but the characters are the same.

    Jacky - > Paul

    Lau - > Law

    Sarah -> Nina

    Wolf -> King

    etc.

  • oh man thats way too blocky XD

  • i remember when i when i turned 4 back in Dec 1998 , my mum bought me a sega saturn with this game for me birthday (or xmas one of the 2 haaa) and told me its bran new ... me now being 15 look this up on wiki and it said the sega saturn was released in 1995... so many lies! lol ... still i had great fun playing on it :)

  • 3:13-3:15 - WRECKED

  • This game had better physics then street fighter 4

  • November 95 yes!

  • I like the other graphics better. They look less shitty.

  • the graphics used to look great 9 years earlier!

  • @nupsyyy True.

  • I'm going to start crying...this is seriously bringing back good memories of going to the beach when I was alot younger and spending countless hours and quarters on this game at the local arcade....*sigh*

  • YES! THis was MY game back in the day, when everyone was too busy being hypnotized by the lure of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Who can resist the polygon animation..??

  • at 1:15 Lau looks like Mung Daal from Chowder.

  • All the sounds is perfect.

    The voices...everthing.

  • The soundrack is great

  • people dont realize this was the first 3d polygonal fighter...educate yourself before leaving negative comments

  • @tills1974 Exactly, this was in the arcades about 18 YEARS ago, it's older than most of the people who are commenting, lol.

  • @tills1974 mortal kombat was out before this dude

  • @Subaro0o Wasn't a 3D fighter

  • @Sloomification you got me

  • @Subaro0o i must have been the only one who didn't like MK's animations...

  • @raptros go play MK9

  • @Subaro0o Dude seriously, "go play MK9?" where was MK9 in the 90s idiot? i was talking about the earlier ones in the arcades not the latest ones. i tryed all three and primal rage from the same makers and Primal rage was the game that i dominated and learned every move and fatality and i aways said that people only thought MK was better because primal rage had dinosaurs instead of humans, and even then i always said the animations for MK sucked yet it succeeded and PR died, i still play PR.

  • @raptros no man.. you said you never liked mortal kombat.. im talking in general you should try the new one.. its really good i've been playing the shit out of it lately on ps3

  • @Subaro0o o said i didn't like the MK's animations and i meant to talk about the old ones not the newest one, because in case you didn't know the old MKs were done using actors and motion capture based around stop motion, the thing is that primal rage also used the same technique except for the models where they used clay models for the characters and it managed to get better animations. without still frames or silly looking animations.

  • The music is Saturn-o-rific!!!

  • dont breath

  • DUDE i loved this game

  • Look only at the floor throughout the video.

No wonder Virtua Fighter Remix was free.

  • Avatar sucks!

  • Oh yeah i remember that was the first beat'em'up i played on pc, that was some cool stuff i want to play it again now :D

I remember the final boss was a weird ironfighter and i always had to laugh when kage didnt hit with his head-diver attack lol

@4RFD4 i think it appeared 1 year before tekken, yea some characters are reminiscent of tekken characters

    Lau = Feng

    Pai = Xiayou

    Jeffry = Bruce

    Sarah = Nina

    Jacky = Paul

@mariofan587 i think this graphic wasn't bad at all for this time

  • This game appeared before or after Tekken? Because they really look alike!!!...

  • the sound track...actually is quiete good im shcoked not many comments on the soundtrack being well..nice for an old game? u dnt have sound tracks nearly this good in new games excluding Mario Galaxy series. :s

  • i remember getting my ass kicked by the girl with the whip lmfaooooo in a dark stage with ambient lighting... forget her name...i used to use that guy that siad "im faster than lightning" to kick her ass...his combos were so easy...jack i think his name was.

  • I Think This Game Has Terrible graphics but this game is just fucking fun

  • This video reminded me of how much bullshit Kage and ringouts in this game were. I also laughed hard at the 50% damage roundhouse kick against Sarah.

  • i have play this on my sega pc

    i play it every day:P

it was a lot of fun

but how do you record this?

  • I remember something Virtua Fighter had that Tekken didn't and still doesn't. The hats (and Kage's mask) fall off when the characters are hit.

  • what is the name entry screen like?

  • Hahahaha !

  • When I saw this for the first time I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Ahh 1995, or whenever it was.

  • HAha wow. Look at this blocky crap. I loved this game back when i had a saturn. Jackie was my favorite.

  • I'm confident I would beat whoever's playing here :)

  • I miss the 1990s!

  • is it me or Lau Chan look like Tao Pai Pai from Dragon Ball

  • @MalpaPL That's what I thought. Only Lau's a lot nicer.

  • I love the music too. I used to have Virtua Fighter Remix which I adored back in the day. Desperately looking for a decent condition big box copy.

The back to basics 'just really good fighting and gameplay' makes the saturn and VF games hold up where so many 3D fighters after now play obsolete.

  • I miss Sega Saturn

so I am just searching the game play of Saturn

  • THE KING OF 3D FIGHTING GAMES! No othe 3D fighting game ever surpassed VF. VF5 is the best next fighting game, technical, raw, with depth and ARCADE AWESOMENESS!

  • Polygon smoothing?

    What's that?

  • Fuck you guys for using lau, he was so cheap.. i got this for the pc downstairs somewhere.. I used to think i was such a BA for playing it all day :\

  • for a split second, when i glanced at lau chan's hobby, i culdve sworn i saw it read "Chinese Porn" O.o

  • i miss saturn

  • The jet engine accompanying Lau's roundhouse kick brings back so many memories.

  • lau Reminds me Of Mercenary Tao From Dragon Ball

  • 1:14 Pedo smile =)

  • Most of all the music was tooo hot!!!!

  • i miss this game, watching people play it makes me want to play it again.

  • 4:02 Damn that looked painful. >_> Head to stone. lol

  • This is the King of fighting games! When I was younger and saw this the first time it appeared on Arcades I could not believe my eyes! hahaha I was stuck at my local Arcades on the window watching the demo on and on and on...! Didn't miss the change buying of course immediately SEGA Saturn on 1995 just for VF! Saturn.. One of the best consoles ever made...!

  • it was very special back in 1993. Things like motion capture and the dynamic camera were never seen in a fighting game before.

  • we played this way back on the computer.. I think it was in 1996 or so, I was very very young... like 4-7 don't remember it correctly

later we had the VF2 for computer too, and we borrowed the PS2 + VF3 too if I remember correcly

great game though... I actually would like to play it again...

  • I played the shit outta this o the Sega Saturn back in the day

  • cheez!! I thought these were the best graphics at the time

  • qi porra

  • Nice, but VF2 on Saturn look so much better!

  • @Juanknes Well obviously. This is a straight port of the original Virtua Fighter from the arcade. It was released a lot earlier than VF2, hence the lack of textures. I personally think the animations are loads better in the original Virtua Fighter though.

  • i had a hate on sony psx and ps2,ps2 is really great but psx was so blown up at the time and feutred blatant ripps of sonic and mario and the games you'd expect on a sega or nintendo, and n64 just looked a hell lot of better and had 4 player fun,i preferd nintendo because sony had so many ripps, arcade gameplay went to hell etc,we had a saturn and n64 back then.sega was so much better then sony arcade perfect conversion and the fun factor.nintendo is on it's own right now.

  • the music are good in this game

  • KAGE FTW

  • WOW, the voices r so different from vf2, i nvr knew this, but wow its ridiculous o,O; lol

  • The animations were superb, played this when I was like 7, own the shit out of them!

  • Kick Ass Fighting Game,I Remember when I was Like 10 or 11 & I Like Pai & Sarah because I wanna Say Grrrls Kick ass!!!!

  • I always rofl at the ninjas headjump, he has really no doubt about the stability of his neck whatsoever!

  • Seems like the fighting engine for Tekken was based on this. Sarah is like Nina, The wrestler dude like King. etc.

  • The engine is nothng like Tekken. For Tekken each button represents a characters limb and the combos are dialed in, as opposed to Virtua Fighter which consist of only three buttons.

  • I'm not talking about the button arrangements. I'm talking fight animations and dynamics. Look at Tekkens low kick style compare to VF. Identical. King has the exact same throw as the wrestler, animations are the same. Im thinking Namco used this engine as a base for theirs.

  • i think you're right but cam away with it pretty good tought,th thing is vf wasn't aything comercial tekken was.tekken is like probotector to contra, evryone was bragging about tekken.i liked sega allot more childhood eh same for nintendo.when sony cam up i really hated the thing because it was quantity over quality.who remeber ff7 beeing blowed all out of porportion the game stinks graphic wise and is just another ball an chani rpg.same for tekken.

  • i mist...damn why do my sega saturn had to stop working on me???.......*crying*

  • if you have a Mega Drive and one day you buy a Saturn with VF +Daytona USA you think the graphic is great -- it was the most amazing day in my gaming history, because of the tirth dimension. Better Graphic with tekken and ridge racer on the ps1, but better gameplay on sarurn! <3

  • sadly these were the best graphic of the generation lol

  • Not really, this port was very rushed. Virtua Fighter Remix looks much better than this and it's still not the best. Take a look at Virtua Fighter 2, Radiant Silvergun and a few other later Saturn titles for the best graphics of this console generation.

  • Ha ha what? These were the best graphics on the Saturn? You clearly don't know anything about it my friend. If you are talking about the best graphics for the year this port of Virtua Fighter was released check out Robotica.

  • i kno wat im talking about dude inside me breathes the morbidly obese gamer thank god itll never come out how dare u shoot down my opinions lol jeez btw tekken and street fighter will alwas rule

  • I'm only shooting down your opinion because it isn't backed up by any facts. You can't expect to comment like that and not receive any negative feedback.

It's nice to know you like Tekken and Street Fighter. That's great, but I don't care. I love Virtua Fighter.

  • I know...I played this as well at like 5. I would act out the girl with the blue hat. haha. I miss this game. The graphics were terrible. I didn't even realize that back then. lol

  • Man, this was my first game when i was like 7 or something...glad i found out the name

  • Nice graphics.

  • men im worry i like this crap O_o

  • 1:15 lau teeth

  • This game will always be one of the best fighters out there. Akira and Kage were my favorite fighters, and its a tie between Pai and Lau. Kage still has the best music in my opinion.

  • goddamit, you totally let kage beat you ;/

  • lego fighter

i used tomplay this on arcade thinking it was vf2

  • That's cause IT IS.

  • it looks like tekken 2 for Ps1

  • i use 2 think this was the greatest game ever

  • @o0hyphy0o "think"? this WAS the greatest game ever!

  • What is a MDF and MDS on the Sega Saturn emulator? Also the SSF emulator works!

  • man, this brings back memories! the first game i ever played with my dad. I wish they still had this.

  • someone smart please help me

why cant i see the video AB

  • ypu Kage rocks

  • My favorite stage is the one where you roll against Jeffry.

  • This looks a lot better than the 32x version. The 32x version is horrible.

  • I wouldn't say its terrible.

This version is just simply supperior.

  • the 32x wasn't even a real 32 bit system so making a 32 bit game on a system that is not even 32 bit and having it turn out like it did makes it alot superior just in terms of how the systems are so different.

  • the sad part is atleast in the 32X version the stages don't clip... (i'm referencing to the intro here where the stage draw distance must be like 10ft away from the camera)

  • @aj0049 At least this is the closest we're going to get to arcade, seeing as MAME still can't emulate the ROM correctly.

  • The polygon count and configuration is amazing for such an early 3D game

  • is there an emulator for this?

  • this looks like shit for a saturn could have been done much better.

  • Yeah I agree, but even arcade VF1 is a very basic looking game. The irony is, VF2 on Saturn looks amazing and proves just how powerful Saturn really was, but too late.

I think Sega made a big mistake relying on VF1 and Daytona USA for the Saturn launch. Both are rushed ports that do the Saturn no justice... it was capable of so much better.
