  • I have always loved the Carter and Cash music. Thank you for this beautiful tribute to Mother Maybelle that had so much God given talent.

  • What a lovely, heartwarming tribute...and from a rather young lad, too! I am most impressed that you posted this, and I know Mother Maybelle and her girls are smiling down on you :~) Truly, this brought a tear to my eye...

  • @whatanightmare1 thank you. I'm glad you liked it. Mother Maybelle (and all of the Carter family) have done so much for the music community and when I heard it would have been Maybelle's 100th birthday I had to do a video tribute. Have a nice weekend :O)

  • @whatanightmare1 Do you know any thing about mother maybelle husband ? I have never heard talk

about him or any thing said about him

  • @freba91 She married Ezra Carter, as you probably know he was A.P. Carter's brother, but Ezra was never involved much in the music, as far as I know, nor was he ever a member of the "Carter Family" as a music group. My grandfather knew them, but Lord, he has been dead since 1975...I would give anything to ask him more about the Carters. You are right, there is not a lot out there about Ezra...but I heard he was a really good father, loved his girls a lot :~)

  • @freba91 He wasn't musical like the rest of the family so he isn't written about much. His name was Ezra J Carter. He was born in Scott county, VA on October 21st 1888 and he was a minister. He was the son of Robert C Carter and Mary Arvilla Bays. He and Mother Maybelle were married on March 13th 1926. He died in Davidson County, TN on January 22nd 1975. Hope this helps :O)

  • @mostlythemusic Thank you so much ! I have always wondered about him now I know

  • im glad you were so inspired by this great woman

  • @bostonteabagger71739 thank you.. its hard not to be inspired by this great lady seen as she was one of the people who revolutionised the autoharp world! have a great weekend :O)

  • Sorry, but it should be "You're Sadly Missed." Contraction of "You are"... But if English is your second language, it is not such a terrible thing. But so many young people today do this ALL the time.

  • @deaddoc to be honest I've only just noticed it since you've pointed it out.. im rather embarrassed by this mistake seen as im an A-level English literature student.. this is something I pick people up on a lot.. and its rather funny that I've made the mistake myself.. its very similar to the their/there/they're argument lol.

  • @mostlythemusic I have noticed that there is an actual documentary tribute to Maybelle Carter available elsewhere for purchase. BTW, I am a Carter cousin - distant with the divergence occuring in the 19th century. Sometimes my love of this music is such a given for me that I forget I must repeat it once in a while online.

  • @deaddoc however.. this is a tribute video to the first lady of country.. she helped revolutionise the autoharp.. and a grammatical error is hardly important.. it would have been nice for you to at least say a kind word about Mother Maybelle before pointing out a small mistake in the video..

  • @mostlythemusic - I thought I had actually decided not to post this, but it looks like it got posted twice. Sometimes it is difficult to see how the utube buttons are working. But it is possible to edit isn't it? I thought that perhaps I was doing you a favor in the long run, while also deflecting any association of poor English with the Carter's and their culture.

I have made some kind comments elsewhere, but I should have also thanked you for putting this together too.

  • @deaddoc I have the same trouble when posting comments sometimes.. as for editing it.. the software i used actually recorded the video with the banner on it.. it wasnt added post-filming so i cant edit it unfortunately :O( never mind though..

  • thanks for a tribute to a great lady and singer and the best mother n law to have johnnys lucky
