I'll be working on storing enough food for several other people. It's good to feed people but you must first take care of yourself, see you have enough, then your family and then some giving and consideration of other people. If food is unavailable there's nothing you can do, to some extent even if you wanted to. Be loving and caring of others but also realistic. You may find sharing might work in your favor and giving can sometimes grease the wheels so people do best.

Reg, my wife wants to shop for a new car, I said we can look but not buy until after the holidays. She doesn't seem to understand when I talk about what's on the horizon. I'm expecting dismal retail numbers and the economy to really spiral down after December, then she will understand. From what I've read the Obama team were acting quickly to keep the stock market from crashing. Which would have been disaster. Obama's spending has not averted anything, and most of it has not been spent; only the banks got the money quickly -> its impossible to say it averted anything and is likely to cause a bigger crash when it is spent and inlflation cycles churn.

I'll be working on storing enough food for several other people. It's good to feed people but you must first take care of yourself, see you have enough, then your family and then some giving and consideration of other people. If food is unavailable there's nothing you can do, to some extent even if you wanted to. Be loving and caring of others but also realistic. You may find sharing might work in your favor and giving can sometimes grease the wheels so people do best.

However, I disagree the way Obama is taking America. I believe he has shown how naive he really is. His ideas, on paper, are OK but he has let the Dem Congress take those ideas and run them into the ground.
An example is the Stimulus Bill. The Dem Congress put mostly 'pork' in the bill that did not create jobs and Obama signed it.

We're storing food for my family and those relatives who live in town. They think my wife and I are too paranoid and are not preparing at all.We plan on feeding them when food becomes scare. We also have weapons to defend our food. We have enough ammo to still conduct weapons training. Further, with silver prices remaining low, we are buying as much as the budget will allow. Suffice to say, my family will get through the rough times ahead, including my ignorant in-laws. Aren't they lucky!

Most of the members in the family can shoot straight. This is good news. Our food stocks are not being advertised and the family will be told to keep a lid on it or else they don't eat. My house is easily defenable especially with multiple 12ga with lots of century rounds (.64 cal ball w/ 6 #1 buck as backup). Keeping a low profile will be key. Last week I bought a POS boat to fish the ICW which is a block away. Cast nets are also handy. We'll survive one way or another. How about you?

I have some food stocked up for myself and my son that lives with me. I have tried to tell my other children to have enough food to last at least 3 months. They think I have lost it LOL I tell them anything could happen a tornado, economy,or hyper-inflation.But if something did happen I will feed them. I know there are racist in all ethnic groups, that will use anything against another human being that is of a different race. .

I would like to think that Obama doesn't have any impact on race relations, but I have noticed that if I speak out about how I don't like Obama or his policies people are quick to call me a racist. In some ways this makes me bitter, but I try to look past color and to see whats within. I didn't think Bush or Clinton were any better than Obama, they are all running with the same agenda and breaking the countries back as they go.

Because I think if you get down into the deeper layers of the reality of politics Obama has to walk the middle of road. Even deeper than that, he's black meaning he has to walk an even finer line than a white male president would have to walk.

It appears that if anything being black has gotten him a lot further than if a guy with the same policies were white. Its as if the media never wanted to question him , and is still reluctant to, just because he is black and they want to appear so 'politically correct'. Yes there was complete kid glove 'vetting' of his deals with Rezko, his 20 years at Trinity (especially that) his statements in his book about being influenced by Saul Alinsky, his Rasid Kahllidi & W Ayers friendship, and that nearly every time his politics were seriously questioned, editors and hacks played the race card to scare his detractors. I have yet to see something that made me go 'oh my god there's no way I would have done that.' Compared to Bush where I was stunned with most decisions his administration made. Iraq should decrease, the American ppl want Afghanistan to continue, with Federal Reserve and deficits I believe that's the only thing keeping the economy afloat.
Bush entered presidency with a surplus and ultimately accrued was it a 10 trillion national debt over 8 years. I think Obama had to try some kind of cpr--

On this patient. We have a about $37,000 national debt per person. That's normal workers, children, elderly, everyone. And that's not counting the unfunded liability of social security and medicare at anywhere from 40 to 100 trillion depending on who you ask. This is very very ugly situation. And it happened mostly on Bush's watch.
That's the reason why it shocks me when people are so vicious on Obama and he's been in office 5 months with one quick severely needed attempt at financial rescue.

Not at all, Bush entered with a one year surplus , not an overall gross national surplus.
Obama's spending habits are not cpr, they are like choking a dying man. That money has barely been spent except what goes to banks, and so I dont see how that is keeping anything afloat.
Obama is a much better salesman than Bush, and the media loves his image, which was not the case with Bush. Obama's sales ability and pop-image is why the banks bankrolled his campaign instead of Hillary or McCain.

I think if one tries to defend Bush's spending habits it's a losing battle. Bush budget did not help us, neither did Iraq, neither did his support of home ownership and the housing bubble.
From what I've read the Obama team were acting quickly to keep the stock market from crashing. Which would have been disaster. Some people have said that letting it crash would have been healthier for the economy in the long run. I don't think the American people want a quick severe crash though. Seriously.

You are absolutely right on that first part. But the Nat Debt has been over $1 trillion since Reagan and only CLinton's last year saw an annual surplus, it wasnt an overall surplus.
Obama's spending has not averted anything, and most of it has not been spent; only the banks got the money quickly -> its impossible to say it averted anything and is likely to cause a bigger crash when it is spent and inlflation cycles churn.
The market went back up on sheer fund manipulation not 'stimulus'.

Reguarding Survival Preparedness:FOOD
I have prepared 3 day food kits to hand out to beggers - If you dont give them something you run the risk of them attempting to take your food.
In the kits are rice, pasta, Bullion cubes, oat meal, hot chocolate and only one protien entree (tuna or can of chile)
Really bland to discourage them from returning for more hand outs - I am hidding the MREs for myself

My 4 kids (10, 13, 14, 15 yrs) all have been told and have been listening/helping me prepare for the last year and a half. They are totally fine with it, since they had time to ingest it all over a period of time before it completely happens. I suggest you do. You want them emotionally and psychologically prepared as best they can be. Just my opinion.

Race relations will worsen because whites are still seen as oppressors and all minorities are still automatically seen as victims of white oppression. The fact that so many people voted for Obama on the basis of his race means that there will definitely be some animosity, but I don't think it will lead to anything like a race war. That's silly. I'm saving up food for me, but I know I'll have to be prepared to give food to my relatives & friends. 1 month's food for those I think will ask.

I think history is a good indication.
Look at every impoverished nation in the world. The bulk of them have or have had some form of civil war involving different ethnicitys. Humans are mob oriented creatures. Humans find security in numbers. The most basic way to identify with each in total chaos is race.
The prison system is a perfect example of this social phenomena. People find protection in numbers. What do they unite along? Race.
