@catking0007 He was a whale that made it into peoples heart when free willy came out. After the movie was over he was returned to the park that owned him where he was malnourished and neglected. A year later after a bunch of people got together and raised over 7 million dollars for him to have a better life. He was donated to the new park where he went from just over 7000 pounds to well over 9000 pounds. He was reunited to his birth place in Icleand where he lived. He died Dec 12 2003 of pnem.

they tried to put him bac into the wild, thinking that he would remeba how to survive as a wild orca, with sum "training"! and it DID work, he lived succsessfully in the wild for a few years, and eventully died from pneumonia, which was caught from the fresh sea water and not the fault of activists!

it is sad, but at least he got to go bac to the wild after all its better to die free than live abit longer in a tank

Keiko was burried on land ( all 6 tonnes fully intact ) next to Taknesfjorden ( Taknes Bay ) in Norway 15.12.2003 wich was the last place he ventured into. He was burried on land after a wish from The Free Willy-Keiko Foundation.

This wish was granted by Norwegian fish attorities ( Normally whales would have been sunked at open seas ) He was burried at night without to much fuss, so that journalist would'nt spoil the moment. His keepers were present as well as representatives from the Free Willy-Keiko Foundation and the mayor of the town of Halsa. A memorial with over 300 persons were held at a later date.

Keiko became ill and had bad appetite. He did not want to accept antibiotichs and he died of pneumonia.
