the noise of the mtus is less than the paxmans as they have four small turbos rather than one huge one which screamed. the worst thing about the mtus is the heat from the glowing turbos as you pass them somewhere around 400 degrees plus ,
That was great! Wonder whats happened to all the Valenta engines now they've been replaced. Hope someone keeps a couple for preservation at some stage.

In Bristol at an HST depot, I believe there was only 2 paxmans left on the first great western fleet at the time

so would i. i went into an engine of a MTU and i couldent go any further than the turbocharger.

yes,the 125 group have purchased some valenta engines amongst other bits and bats for hopefully preservation of a hst train!
